They have located their exterior wall studs on 16-inch centers while ours are 24-inch on center.
This provides approximately 23% less area for thermal bridging on your exterior walls. As demonstrated in this thermographic image of a home, wood studs are a poor insulator. The areas shown in red and yellow indicate loss of heat. So the more insulation you have, the more energy efficient your home will be and the lower your monthly energy costs are.
