Hi, my name is Brittany Woodworth and I own Timeless Moments in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Timeless Moments is a bridal and prom store located here in Sydney. We strive to offer like the biggest selection of prom, bridal, bridesmaids, basically to be a one-stop shop for the biggest day of your life. I always knew that I wanted to own my own business. I didn't know what I wanted to do. Anyway, the girl who had previously owned the store had hired me to help with some finance and marketing, and then the day that I sold my first dress, I was hooked, and I was like, this is what I want to do. I don't care about anything else. And anyway, fast forward, it was 6 months after I sold my dress, I bought the building— or bought the business from her. We moved here, and I bought a building and expanded and all that kind of stuff. I think that we bring a lot of, like, young and fun energy when the girls are shopping when they come in here. We try to really treat them as friends and not customers, so we try to create an atmosphere where they're comfortable. We have girls that come in every single week to try on dresses just because they're excited that they're coming. I mean, it's obviously stressful at some points, but to help girls feel like their most beautiful self, I mean, you're helping them find a wedding dress or a prom dress. It's a day that most girls dream about their whole life, so to be able to be a part of that is just It's undescribable, really. I first got involved with CBDC from the previous owner, Michelle. When she started her business, she had a loan through Coastal, and she had so many great things to say about them. So it was natural for me to go there and to work with them, and they've been, they were nothing but fantastic this whole entire time. When I first met with Coastal, they really helped me with my business plan. I have a business degree from St. Evex, so I had a general understanding of what I needed to do, but, you know, the parts with the financials and the breakdowns of the monthly expenses and all that is a little bit more challenging, I think, for anyone. So they were really great to help me finish with that. I've taken a number of classes through a program that they offer, which has helped with bookkeeping, marketing, human resource, all that kind of stuff. So they've really been a great resource. They just give you that sense of security that you don't have to worry about anything because they're there to kind of help you through the whole process, so you can take risks, you can do that kind of stuff because you know that they have your back. It's the biggest day of someone's life, so whether it's prom or bridal, they're stressed. So you kind of have to be that person that they can vent to, that, you know, if there's an issue, that we have to deal with it, all that kind of stuff. But I mean, for the most part, it's a pretty fun, pretty rewarding job. Just doing what I love, which is nice.
