Shelley Hitz records a short episode of the Hit Splitz Podcast from her car while waiting at a chiropractor appointment, sharing practical strategies for writers to capture small pockets of time for writing, self-publishing, and marketing. She recommends using phone recording apps (Twisted Wave), automatic transcription (Otter AI), dictating emails or manuscript sections while walking or during brief waits, and emphasizes taking "tiny actions" rather than getting overwhelmed. The episode closes with a call-to-action to join the Training Authors Facebook group.

How can you capture the small pockets of time in your day? Hi, I'm Shelly Hitz. Welcome back to the Hit Splitz Podcast, Private podcast where I'm sharing wisdom for writers. Whether you're writing, self publishing, or marketing your book, we are here for you and we are in this with you. So right now I'm actually sitting in our car in the parking lot of our chiropractor's office with, waiting for my husband. He had a little bit longer appointment today because it was his day to get an evaluation. And so I'm sitting in the car and I thought, hey, I had a couple ideas come to my mind of what I wanted to share with you on this podcast, and I thought, I can just record it here. Now, part of this strategy that I've been doing with this podcast is just to keep it easy, make it fun, but. But it also allows me to capture these small moments. So right now I'm using an app on the iPhone called Twisted Wave. And it's just something I purchased before. But you can use any recording app on your phone, and I am sharing this with you in this pocket of time. But maybe for you, it's. You're still working on your first draft, so maybe you have something that you can work on with your outline or you're speaking your manuscript into your phone. If you're working on marketing, you could take a few minutes and type up your next social media post or work on an email. I have occasionally. I was going to say often. I have occasionally dictated emails while I'm walking. Now, you have to be careful about this. I usually do it when I know I have a really smooth sidewalk and I'm not going to have issues. But something that can work well is there's an app called Otter AI and you can just record yourself. You don't even have to be watching it or anything. You record yourself and it automatically transcribes it for you, and then you can go back later and work on the editing and stuff. So that's a great option if you're somewhere where you can't really be paying attention to what you're saying and. And make sure it's kind of capturing it correctly because you can always listen back to it. So there's so many ways to capture your tiny moments of time. I like to say take tiny actions. So, you know, there's so many things. There's so many things we could do right when it comes to writing, publishing, and marketing our books. And it can get overwhelming. But how can you capture your tiny moments, take tiny actions and just move forward, do something and capture these small moments of time. So today for me, it was recording a couple podcast episodes for you while I was in the car waiting for cj. What will it be for you? I'd love to hear. Let us know in our Facebook group. You can join@trainingauthors.com group. We'd love to hear from you. And I will talk to you in our next hit splits episode.
