Hey, Hit Splits. This is Shelly Hits, the owner and founder of ChristianBookAcademy.com and the host of the Kingdom Writers Conference. But today I wanted to talk about, like, what can you release in order to allow something new to come forth? This is kind of a deep question, and you may have to take some time in prayer and journaling to really get to the root. But we've been talking about some deep things lately. But also, it might just be something simple. And I was recently asked this question, and I was thinking about it and praying about it, and it was just for me, I think I just want to release worry and fear and expectations. That's a big one for me. Expectations. Because expectations, when you have this certain fat, hard and fast expectation, then if that does not happen, you get disappointed or there might be anxiety or other things that result. So releasing that fear, worry, anxiety, but also releasing expectations to allow to bring forth God to do what he wants to do. In my life, I feel like lately the Lord has just been saying to me, shelli, I just want you to step aside. Step, step aside. And I am really good at connecting with the Lord, listening to him, following, you know, what. What I believe he's saying to me. And yet, you know, sometimes I get it wrong, but he always brings me back. And yet there is still that tendency in me. I say, I'm a redeemed workaholic. There is still that tendency in me to say, what do I need to do? And I was talking to CJ the other day, and I said, you know, I think I have this lie that if I don't do something, then I don't deserve the result. You know what I mean? Like, that's. I don't even like saying that out loud, but it's kind of true. Like, I've. I've had this built into me since I was young. Both of my parents were workaholics. Let's just get that out in the open. And my mom, you know, she admits that, and she's different now and has changed. But I was taught hard work. I was taught to work and, you know, even not pay attention to my own needs and my own self. But over the years, the Lord has shown me, what does it look like to work with Him? What does it look like to not push and strive and all of the things. So. So, you know, I've been learning that, and I'm pretty good at it. But, you know, something happens. And it's. Sometimes when you're in a stressful situation, it's easy for your previous habits to come to the surface again. Have you ever been in a family gathering with, you know, your family of origin? Maybe it's a holiday, some something, and all of a sudden something comes out of you that you have not experienced or expressed for a long time. You know, it's. You've. You were used to, you know, being with that family and having those kind of reactions. But God has changed you. You're different. But there's still sometimes a tendency to revert back, especially if it's a stressful situation, it's a traumatic situation.
Or whatever. Maybe it's just a busy time in your life, but it's easy sometimes to revert back. And so the thing that it's easy for me to do is to revert back to, what do I need to do? I need to do something more. I need to do, do, do, do, do. And the Lord's like, no, I will show you what to do. Yes, you do need to do things. You know, can't have a business without doing something. But you. You don't have to be in charge of it, right? Like, step aside. Almost like, I just keep getting this picture of, like, being on a stage and just stepping aside behind the curtain, off, off to the side, you know, in the. The waiting area where you can see the stage, but you're not on the stage anymore. And it's like God, Jesus, he's the one that. I mean, he's the main character, right? He's the one that gets the glory. He's the one that will do it. And. And in these stressful moments or these hard times, these difficult seasons, you know, sometimes we just have to be reminded, let's just step aside. Let's allow God to do his work. What does he want to do? And so that's what it is for me. But what is it for you? What do you need to release in order, you know, to allow something new to come forth? What do you need to do? What is it? Or maybe it's just. Maybe it's just a thought. Maybe it's just changing your mindset. A lie, you know, changing a lie to a truth like we talked about in a recent episode. But let me just pray for you, Lord. I just pray right now that each person listening would take this to heart, that they would truly ask you, lord, what is it I need to release in order for something new to break forth, to come forth to. To. To create room for you to do what only you can do. So just pray. You would give them wisdom, insight, and that you would help each one of us just to continue, let go, to continue every day to die to ourselves. Take up our cross and follow you. It is a daily thing. The scriptures say take up your cross daily. So it's just a reminder that this isn't a one and done thing. We're going to continue to grow. We're going to continue to have challenging circumstances. And so we want to continue, Lord, to die to ourselves, to let go of the things that we need to let go of so that you can move, so that you can receive all the glory. And Lord, we just thank you. We thank you for what you're doing. We just thank you that you are on the throne, you are in control. No matter what's happening in the world, in our own personal circumstances, you are in control and we can relax and, and release our worries and anything else that we're. We're carrying into your hands. In Jesus name I pray. Amen. Amen. Friends, I hope this was encouraging to you of just and maybe even a little bit challenging. You know, as a coach, that's my job sometimes is to push you a little bit, to challenge you a little bit and say, okay, let's dig a little deeper. So I'd love to hear what came up for you. Go ahead and post in our private group for Christian Book Academy if you're a Christian Book Academy member or email us. I'd love to hear from you. All right, I'll talk to you in the next episode.
