A short podcast episode (or segment) by Shelley Hitz offering encouragement to writers who find writing or publishing difficult, using a personal anecdote about making milk kefir cheese to illustrate that tasks often feel hard because they are new rather than intrinsically difficult. Shelley reassures listeners that learning is a process, that God provides guidance and timely insight, and encourages perseverance and community support for ‘Kingdom writers.’

But I just also wanted to encourage you today that if you are feeling like the writing process is hard or the publishing process is hard, you're not alone. How many of you are feeling that right now that, oh, I'm just in the thick of writing my first draft or editing it or publishing it, and it just feels hard? Well, C.J. and I, we've gotten into a whole thing of fermenting food, and that's a whole other topic. But this week I was doing some kefir milk kefir, and I was making it into cheese. And I could not figure. It was the second time. The first time, it started out really amazing. The second time I was like, this isn't working. I don't understand. It's not turning out how it's supposed to turn out. And I, I just went to bed that night. The next morning I got up and I was, I saw something on YouTube and it was about that. And I was like, I forgot the coffee filter. You're supposed to put a coffee filter inside the mesh filter and then that holds the cheese. Well, anyways, I, I, I did that and it turned out fine. But I felt like the Lord was reminding me the, the person that I've been learning from on this whole thing. You can check out her, her site. It's cultured Food life dot com, I think. But she says over and over again, this isn't hard. It's simply new. And I just wanted to say this to you as well. Some of you are brand new. You're just learning. Some of you are onto your third, fourth, fifth book. But some of the things you're doing, it, it may not be that it's necessarily hard, but it feels hard right now. But it's new. And so keep going. Knowing that God is with you, this is a new process. You're learning it. And he's going to keep giving you what you need. He'll keep giving you the encouragement you need or when you need it, the insight, like I needed of just putting that coffee filter in there. And then everything was good. So keep going, Kingdom writers, and we are here for you.
