#150: 🔥 When Writing Feels Impossible, God Can Light the Fire!
3 Feb 2025 · 4 min
Shelley Hitz uses Elijah's story to tell stuck writers that God can light the fire when your project feels impossible. Ask for help, stay humble, and wait for His timing. He brings ideas, motivation, and wisdom when the work looks humanly impossible.

God gives me pictures sometimes, but this time it was a picture from his Word. And I got a picture of Elijah and all the prophets, the battle of Elijah versus all the prophets. And what did Elijah do to the wood before he. He wanted to see show if God could light that fire. What did he do? He doused it with water. And I feel like some of you are sitting here right now with wood, and it's been doused with water, and God's telling you to light the fire.
And you're like, what? This is impossible. God, you just made it 10 times harder for me. I can't do this. Anyone feel that? Right now you feel like you're staring at your book project, and it's like these pieces of wood that you want to see lit on fire, and they are soaking in water. So here's Elijah with just water overflowing. He had a trench around. It's just an obnoxious amount. And looking at the impossible. What did God do? He brought fire from heaven, and he lit that fire. And I'm speaking to somebody right now. I don't know if it's one of you, if it's all of you, but you're looking at your book project and you're saying, God, no, I can't do this. I. And you start, you stop, you start, you stop. And it just looks impossible. But God wants to come down right now from heaven and light that fire and give you the God ideas, give you the words, give you the inspiration, give you even the motivation to sit in the chair. We always say, get your butt in the chair, right? But God can bring his fire from heaven to give that to you. How many of you want that fire from heaven today to. To light your fire? That project that you're working on and see come to pass, See him finish the work. Moses said, when he finished building the tabernacle, I finished the work. Let me pray for you, God. Thank you so much. That when something looks impossible to us, you don't see all of the obstacles. You don't see all of the water soaking that wood. That would make it literally impossible humanly to ever light a fire with that wood. You don't see that. You see how you can be glorified. You see how you can receive the credit. You see how you can do that even when we can't. And then we step aside, we say, God, I can't do it. And that's when you step in. We just have to humble ourselves and say, God, help. Jesus, help. I need your help right now. And if you need God's help with your book project right now, just put your hands out and say Jesus help me. Show me, give the give me the ideas. Help me to market this book. Help me to connect with the right people. Show me what to do. And you know what? He is faithful. James 1:5 says if you lack wisdom, ask God and He will give it to you. If he doesn't show up and tell you today, keep meeting with him. Keep coming to business meetings with God, keep asking, Ask and He will receive. Seek and you will find. Keep showing up. Kingdom writers keep asking and he will answer. He will show up. Maybe not in our timing, maybe not right this minute, but he will come through. And so Lord we thank you already for every book that's going to be birthed through your power, through your fire and we pray this in Jesus powerful name. Amen.
