#177: Quarterly Planning in 5 Minutes
9 Apr 2025 · 3 min
A short guided podcast/transcript by Shelley Hitz leading listeners through a two- to five-minute reflective planning exercise framed as a ‘business meeting with God.’ The host guides breathing, asks listeners to record one quarterly accomplishment or gratitude from Q1 2025, then spend a minute asking God for direction for Q2 (Apr–Jun). Brief announcements promote Christian Book Academy (CBA) workshops and a longer ‘Clarity Call’ training, and members get workshop passes.

We are ending the quarter one now and I thought it would be good to start off this next steps call. Just spending two minutes. So we're going to do a quick two minute business meeting with God, just reflecting on quarter one and asking God about quarter two. So if you have a pen and paper and a journal, get that out. And the first thing I want you to do is take some deep breaths. So just breathe in.
Breathe out.
I always like starting with deep breaths cuz it calms your nervous system. Breathe in.
Breathe out.
And one more. Breathe in and breathe out. And then I just want you to take one minute just say God help me to reflect on quarter 1 20, 25 and just write down at least one thing that you accomplished in your writing or one thing that you're grateful for. It could be that you joined cba, now you have a community of kingdom writers. It be that you started a devotional book on our workshop last month and if you didn't see you are getting a workshop pass now as a Christian Book Academy member. Yay. So we're going to be doing more workshops and we're excited. I'm going to probably take off July and December, that's middle of summer and then the holidays. But yeah, be looking because we're at. We have a lot of fun workshops coming up for you and as a CBA member you get them for free. So stay tuned on that. But I'm going to give you one minute. Go ahead and just write down one thing you accomplished this last three months, this quarter or one thing you're grateful for. And if you feel comfortable share it in the chat box afterwards.
Foreign.
We're winding down. Just finish up and your list can be long or it can be one thing. Just at least come up with one thing that you accomplished that God helped you with, a breakthrough that you had something you're grateful for. And now we're just going to spend one minute asking the Lord what does he have for your writing in quarter two? 2. So that's April, May and June. So go ahead and just spend one minute and just say God, what do you have for quarter two? It you're not going to get probably the entire plan, but just ask for kind of some general things. He may just say you're on the right track, keep going. Or he may have something specific he says to you. It often surprises me what God will reveal to me even in just one minute. So I'm going to go ahead and start the timer and go ahead and ask him for direction for quarter two.
All right, start winding down. You can always do more later.
So how many of you felt like that was a benefit? Just two minutes. It was like a literally like a two minute business meeting with God. Yeah. Jennifer says yes, it was helpful. Christina says yes, that was so helpful. Good. I'm glad. I encourage you to do this. Even if you don't have time to do a full planning session for, for each quarter, set aside five minutes and just do the really quick like down and dirty. Let's say what I'm grateful for or accomplishment and God, what's the direction for this next quarter? And we do have a full training in Christian Book Academy in the bonuses section called Clarity. Call if you like this kind of thing. I love to plan. I don't know any other planners here. I love planning. I love doing all the things. But it is a longer training, about an hour and you can go through. We have a workbook for you and a step by step process of setting a 90 day goal. And so you, if you want and you have the time, you can go through that training later. But you know what I'm realizing? You don't need to do that full hour if you don't want to or if you don't have the time, do five minutes. Everyone has five minutes, right? We can do five minutes or even 15 minutes. We always say do things in 15 minutes. So anyways, I'm excited for all of you.
