7 Jul 2021 · 7 min
C.J. and Shelley Hitz encourage Christian writers to find peace through the Holy Spirit instead of giving in to fears of failure and criticism. They cite Romans 15:13 and John 14:27 on God's peace, then pray for listeners to call on Jesus for stillness in their writing.

Hey, Kingdom writers, You wanting to find peace in your writing? If so, over the next five minutes, CJ has a word of encouragement for you from the word of God that will help to bring calm to your chaos and peace to the panic when it comes to your writing. Hi, my name is Shelly Hitz, and I'm here with my husband, C.J.
Hey, guys.
And we are your author coaches and mentors inside Christian Book Academy. And we have been publishing for years. We, between the two of us, have published over 68 books, and we have just been pouring our lives into mentoring Christian writers like you over the last decade. So today, we are going to help you take a deep breath in your writing, because how many of you know there can be a spiritual attack at times that comes against us in your writing? So let's go ahead and dive in. And cj, we're to going. Why don't you share this word of encouragement for us? Maybe like five minutes to get us going in our writing today.
Yeah. So I want to look at Romans 15:13, and I'm reading from the new living translation. So it says, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confidence, confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. So I want to point out two things quickly there. We are told that we will have joy and peace, which is what we're talking about here in this episode. Kingdom writers have access to a peace that can't be manufactured through human means. It's actually a fruit of the Holy Spirit. And so this isn't something we just conjure up. This is something we get directly from the spirit of God. We have access to something, as Kingdom writers, that just the rest of the world doesn't have. Those who don't call themselves believers in Christ don't have this kind of peace.
Yeah, it's like our secret weapon, the Holy Spirit that fills us and empowers us as we write.
Yeah. And Jesus confirms this with his words in John 14:27. He says, I am leaving you with a gift. And. And that gift, peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. Does it get any more clear than that right. And he finishes that verse by saying, so don't be troubled or afraid. And so I guess a few really key questions that we want to leave you with, really contemplating and having you bring these things to the Lord would be the have you been troubled or afraid regarding your writing? And be honest with yourself. Are you afraid of failure? Are you afraid of what others will think about your writing? Are you afraid that you're actually going to give up before your book is even finished? Now, if we're completely honest, most of us can relate to these feelings. We've been there, we've done that. We have doubted. I know personally that's been an area that I had struggled with. You know, is this really even going to be something that's worthwhile? Is it something that people really want to read? And these doubts go through your mind. And I'm 100% sure that these are darts that the enemy throws our way and continues to try to sidetrack us with. And so if your heart and mind are feeling like that storm that's on the Sea of Galilee that we read about in Mark, chapter four in Matthew, there's another description of that. Then I want you to cry out to Jesus just like those disciples in the boat with him did. They cried out. I want you to ask him to speak the words, peace, be still over your life and your writing. And you know, we can be conduits of this supernatural peace through our writing. You and I can actually be conduits the Lord works through to encourage others around this world.
To basically put out little chaotic wildfires that are all around us and we see it in our world. And so again, we can be writers that help bring calm to chaos and peace to panic all around us as people get a hold of our books. Then they'll see that there's something different about this peace that Jesus offers. And so we can be authors and writers that have peace, true peace in our writing as we write well.
Yeah, so not only to have peace while we're writing, but to also be conduits and deliver that peace through our books, through our writing. And so kingdom writers, do not give up, keep going. We are in this with you. We feel the same resistance that you're feeling. You know, it's hard at times to just keep going and so just want to pray for you as we close. So, God, I just pray for every single person that is listening right now. I pray that you would pour out your holy spirit on them, that you would just fill them with an encouragement that comes from you God. I just pray that they would know and that they would know. That they would know. That they would know that you are the one that's doing the the work. That they are just the priestly pens in the hands of the author of life. And so we thank you Lord, that you are the one doing this. And we praise you. We will give you all the honor and the glory and praise. And I pray that your peace would fill each person right now. And we pray this in Jesus name.
Amen. Amen.
Amen. So I pray that this encouraged you. If it did, tag a friend or share this episode with them. We love you guys and we'll see you next time.
