Welcome to Kingdom Writers, where we help equip and empower Christian writers of all genres to share your unique gifts with the world. We're your hosts, C.J. and Shelley Hitz.
This podcast is filled with spiritual encouragement as well as prayers to help you overcome the resistance you face as a writer. Your story matters.
Do you have a book that you started but you've struggled to finish? If so, keep watching. We have a training for you today on 3 Ways to Renew your commitment to finish your book and click that publish button. And we are excited to share this with you over the next five minutes. My name is Shelly Hitz.
And I'm CJ Hitz.
And we're your author coaches and mentors inside Christian Book Academy.
We.
We have been mentoring writers for the last 10 years, and we have personally, between the two of us, written and published, pressed. We've pressed that publish button 68 times. And so we are just honored to be here with you today and share with you these three steps to renew your commitment to write.
Yeah. So we want to share three of these, as we mentioned in the first one is that you want to remember the reason that you write. In other words, what is your why? What causes you to get up in the morning in terms of your writing? And you know, when you've got that strong purpose behind your writing, it's going to help you overcome the resistance that every single one of us as writers face and all those difficult days that do come. And as we've said before, we're calling BS on resistance because we know that the enemy is already coming. But we're also saying we're not going to just cave in. We know it's coming ahead of time, but we have a deeper reason that's going to keep us going through all that resistance and difficulty.
Yeah. So to find your deeper why. A lot of times I'll say, you know, I want to help women that are da, da, da. So that. And then you find that answer so that you keep asking the question so that. And it helps you get to that deepest why. So, number one is.
Remember the reason you're writing. What is your why? Number two, who are you writing for? So I find that it's so easy as a writer, and correct me if you think I'm wrong, but a lot of times we're writing in isolation and it's easy to forget that there are going to be real people on the other side of these words at the other side of this book that we're writing. And so who is your target audience? And this is a little tip that I give all of our coaching clients and the members inside Christian Book Academy. But I actually want you to picture a single person that you know who. So not just this make believe person, although we do teach that in our target audience training, but I also want you to think about somebody, you know, that would fit the demographic of who you're writing for and if possible, someone that actually has benefited from what you're going to share in your book. So maybe it's somebody that you've discipled, maybe it's somebody that you shared the content with before and they have benefited from, from it. And if possible, print off a picture of them and put it in the place where you write. So if you don't have a picture or if that's kind of weird, write their name, write their name on a sticky note, put it up. And then every day you're seeing that you're reminded, this is why I'm doing this. This is why I'm pushing through the resistance. This is why I'm doing this. Each day, each week I'm moving forward is because of this person. And so it'll serve as a reminder. And then you can also start praying for your future readers. So start thinking about who will be on the other side of those words, who God will bring to read your book. Start praying for those readers now as you're writing and that will get you excited as well.
So those first two again.
The first one can be subbed up with why. Yeah. Second one is who.
Yeah.
What's your why? What's your who? Who's your who? Why?
Who? And then the third one is to write out your commitment to God and yourself and your future readers. So I have my clients and my members inside Christian Book Academy do this as well. I want you to actually get out paper and pen and I want you to post this somewhere where you'll see it every day. Maybe the mirror on your bathroom. Okay, you ready? I am committed to writing and publishing my book. And insert the tentative title by, and insert a tentative date. Now, this can change, but I want you to make some kind of deadline, some, some kind of commitment, and then sign it. So I want you to do this. Get out your pen and paper and then post it somewhere where you'll see it every day. So as a recap, it's why are you writing? Who are you writing for? And then write out this statement of commitment and begin praying for your future readers.
So we're going to close in prayer and Father, we just thank you so much for.
Calling us as Kingdom writers.
Yes.
And I do want to ask that you bring clarity to each and every writer that's listening here, that they would be able to know their why, they would be able to know their who, their audience, and they would be able to write out that commitment that keeps driving them forward. And we know, Lord, that you are the one that empowers us to write. You're the one that inspires us to write. You're the one that actually called us into this endeavor. And so he who began a good work will be faithful to complete it. And we're asking you do this specifically, even with our books. And we're going to give you all the glory and the honor for the things that are finished. And we ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
Amen. So if you do this, if you write out the commitment, leave me a comment or email us@supportrainingauthors.com so we can pray for you, so we can celebrate with you. We are so excited for what God is going to do in and through your life as you take these courageous steps to write your book, self publish it, and impact lives with the message God has given you. We'll see you next time.
Love you guys.
