Lip Basting 101. Because I hate having dry, chapped lips, I constantly lick my lips and it's a struggle. Step one of lip basting is an exfoliating acid. I use L' Oreal's 10 glycolic acid. It's probably way too strong if you have a history of cold sores, so just beware. But a small amount will go a long way to buff your lips to perfection. Once your lips are buffed, you want to seal it in with a really rich ointment. And I go for Weleda's skin food. However, beware because it does have essential oils. So if you have sensitive skin, you might actually react to this. I do put a ton of this on. My lips look white, and it looks white on purpose because I want it to melt into my lips, offering long lasting hydration throughout the day. And I let them melt into my lips as I do my makeup routine, which is really a very simple routine of four steps. There's my eyeliner and then I put on my mascara. But once I'm done, by the time I'm done, they're perfect.
