Hey, everybody. I'm Darren Christenberry. I'm the pro staff coordinator for Elite and the Outdoor Group. I'm here today with Mr. Josh Sidebottom. Josh is the VP of, of New product Development and he's also one of the finest engineers in the archery industry. Josh, I've got to spend some time here at the factory this week. Took a plant tour, saw the changes, saw the new machines, the new fixturing, all the investments that the company's made. There's been a lot of anticipation about our new bows. This year we're going to pass on a lot of good things to our dealers and to our customers. This year I think we've got a great, great product offering and we're set up to have one of our greatest years ever.
Yeah. Yeah. Target archery is a big part of what Elite does here at the Outdoor Group. And we've invested a lot of money and a lot of time to be able to bring target archery to everybody. You know, it should be an all inclusive sport and we want to make sure that everyone can participate. We've got a great product here to show you guys today.
Which target bow do you want to show everybody?
First, why don't we start off with the Victory X?
Okay, when you say Victory, I've been shooting a victory 39 for a lot of years. I've had one in my hands as long as anybody, probably. And when I think of the Victory, I think of smooth, simple, easy, accurate aims. Great. You know, all those features. So what's different about the Victory X that we haven't had before?
Well, all those things you mentioned you're going to find in the Victory X. Also, the Victory has by far been our most successful target bow platform we've had at Elite. And we wanted to continue that and extend that platform into a new bow, the Victory X. This is a super forgiving target bow. It's 37 inches axle to axle with a 6 and 3 quarter inch brace height shooting up to 327ft per second. It's got all the features that you think of from an Elite. Like you said, the smooth draw cycle, the holding weight, the let off the feeling. The bow just aims for days.
Now I shot this boat today for the first time. If I had a blindfold on, I couldn't tell it any difference from the 37 we had last year side by side. I really can't tell many differences. I know we're refining our processes, we're making higher quality products, and this bow looks just like a victory 37 to me?
Yep. You're going to find a lot of similarities. Really. The engineering process with this product was, how do we make this bow? How do we build this bow more efficiently so that we can pass that savings on to our dealers and to our consumers? So, really, what we did, we took a deep dive into how the riser is machined, how it's fixtured, how we assemble it, and how can we make these bows more efficiently. So the Victory X has Elite's two track cam system on it, which gives you the traditional Elite feel. And when I say that, what I mean is it doesn't hold peak weight deep into the draw cycle. It comes up and gradually rolls off into the valley, which is what people are accustomed to when they shoot an Elite bow. It also includes adjustable draw stops. This is a limb stop bow, but it is adjustable. You can run it all the way out and get a ton of let off and hold 8, 9 pounds, close to 90% let off. Or you can adjust it in. I know. Like, Darren, what kind of let off do you shoot on your victories?
I don't know what the percentage is, but I like 16 pounds of holding weight. That seems to be the magic number for me.
Yeah, so £16, that may be about 75% let off. So it's adjustable over a wide range, depending on what your preferences are. The geometry of this bow, the axle to axle and brace height measurements give you a really forgiving platform to shoot off of. The length of the riser and the amount of bend in the limbs gives you a really stable bow at full draw.
As I said before, I've shot the Victory for a long time, as long as anybody. And this bow has had quite a list of accomplishments. You know, I've made some podiums. Chance won shooter of the year this year. Rio's had some fantastic years with the Victory. This bow is proven.
Yep. Yeah, it's been proven on every different type of archery also. And when we decided to come out with this bow, we did not want to stray from what's been proven and successful over the years. We wanted to keep that traditional Elite feel and what people know from this victory platform of bow.
So, Josh, what's this bow going to cost the consumer?
This year we're going to bring this bow in target colors at an MSRP of949.949.
So how many colors are going to be available, do you know?
It's three colors. It's a cobalt blue, our black, and a new color for 2018, the graphite gray.
Josh, how did we get this bow down to that price? Did we cut, cut corners? You know, are we using lesser quality materials? You know, how are we passing on the savings?
Yeah. So a couple things you touched on there. We did not take any cost out of the material. This is still a double laminate. Solid limb on this bow. Same riser material, winner's choice, strings and cables. Where we're able to save on this bow is the efficiency that we can build this bow. So riser machining was a big area that we focused on in order to order to take time out, which we can pass along as a cost savings to the consumers and our dealers.
Josh, this looks like a perfect bow for a lot of archers out there. When's this thing going to be available?
This bow has been in production. We got them on the shelf. They're ready to ship right now. So go see your local elite dealer and check it out.
Perfect. This is the 2018 Victory X. Stay tuned on Facebook. Later today, we're going to tell you all about our new flagship Target bow.
And.
And we're really excited to show it to you.
