B-Model Confusion | Great Plains Bow Company

Great Plains Bow Company explains why so many of their bows share the B-model name. The company makes B-model recurves in one-piece and three-piece versions, a B-model reflex-deflex longbow, and the Kiowa which uses B-model limbs, each with different limb shapes for different shooting styles.

Have you ever looked at Great plains bows and wondered why they're all called B models? Well, today I'm going to kind of show you the differences here and try to help relieve some of that confusion. We have a bunch of B models here at Great Plains. And I'm going to start here with the one piece B model. It's very easy to pick out the shape. It's kind of got this flat area right here and then it goes into the recurve. So this is the B model one piece recurve. Next I'm going to show you the B model three piece recurve. Pretty well known bow if you know Great plains bows. Doesn't have the same limb design at all as the one piece. But that's the three piece B model recurve. We have the Kiowa and we call this our B model limb. Because you can see it's really, really close to the B model one piece recurve. So this is the Kiowa. But if we ever talk about that it has the B model limb. That is because on the Kiowa it has a very, very similar limb to the B model one piece recurve. And it performs almost identical. The two bows perform almost identical. But it's marketed as the Kiowa. The original long curve has a little bit of the B model limb. We don't call this really a B model limb, but it kind of looks a little bit like our B model limb. It's quite a bit different though. Now moving on to longbows. When Great Plains started, they started with this bow. When they started the longbows. This is our traditional longbow. And we also call this the A model longbow. It's more of a straight limb. It is a D shaped bow. When it's strung for the most part, real smooth shooter. It's a great shooting bow. Next we have the B model longbow. You can see much more reflex deflex in this bow. And this is on the website as a reflex deflex longbow. But this is also our B model longbow. I'm going to hold these up side by side. And you can see A model traditional longbow here and B model reflex deflex longbow. So hopefully that helps the confusion there. And. And finally we have the B model pup. We had a German shorthair for about a year. He was an awesome dog. He really had a lot of character. You can see him on some of our social media. He was killed on the road about six weeks ago. And so we just picked this guy up about 5 days ago just for kicks and giggles we named him B model. So this is the B model the German shorthair and the A model is no longer with us. Hopefully that relieves some of the confusion with the B models at Great Plains. It's kind of turned into almost a joke here because we have so many B model bows but also it's probably pretty confusing if you've never shot Great Plains bows and you want to get into it and everything's named B model. To go over it real quickly we've got the B model three piece the B model one piece. Then we've got the A model or traditional longbow and the B model or reflex deflex longbow right here and then of course the Kiowa with the B model limb but a Kiowa and I think that's all the B models at Great Plains. However we are talking about naming another one B model or maybe a C model just for fun. Now we won't do that. Thanks for watching.
