In this motivational talk, Shrenik Shah, a stage‑4 vocal‑cord cancer survivor, recounts his 26‑year journey from a life‑threatening diagnosis to becoming a global speaker, counselor, and author. He describes the nine‑and‑a‑half‑hour surgery, 35 rounds of radiotherapy, and the transition to speaking with an electrolarynx, including the initial public rejection of his new voice. Shah explains how he turned that adversity into a new career path, beginning with counseling a fellow patient, then delivering his first public talk at a book launch, and eventually accumulating over 8,000 speaking hours and reaching more than 100,000 people worldwide. He highlights key achievements such as a Times Square feature, talks at IIM Ahmedabad, U.S. and U.K. medical colleges, and a 2,500‑person virtual conference. Shah shares practical mindsets—acceptance, courage, confidence, patience, perseverance, empathy—and a step‑by‑step approach to converting challenges into momentum. He illustrates the power of his voice with a case study where he secured a critical appointment for a pregnant thyroid‑cancer patient at Tata Memorial Hospital. Finally, he mentions his biography published on Amazon and his vision for future talks, urging listeners to adopt a “laser‑focus” mindset and become unstoppable despite disabilities.

Hello friends, this is Shrenik Shah from Ahmedabad, India, and letting you know me in my 27th year leading Invictus and Redefine Life 2.0. As a professional global speaker, storyteller, thought leader, and mentor, currently in Toronto, Canada. Today. I'm going to share my journey and illustrating the power of self, the limitlessness of the human spirit. As you already know me, making impossible possible as a speaker after the loss of natural voice and going back to work with my differently enabled voice. You are listening now. 26 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 vocal cord cancer, and cancer surgeon Warned me that I am not having much time, and he has given me choice of life or voice. And my wife Neelam and I. Gracefully examined life as against voice. I underwent 9 and a half hours long surgery followed by 35 rounds of radiotherapy. And for 3 months, I managed my life using pen and paper, which was quite frustrating as an international marketer where speaking in those days was essential as there was no digital platform, no internet. And it was rather quite difficult to manage communication simply by using pen and paper. I was then advised to use integral larynx, and in those days The speech-language therapist trainer was not available, and I learned speaking while using electronics by practicing in front of mirror for one week, and fortunately I could found Sweet spot from where I am audible. When I started speaking in public for the first time, it was quite shocking and disappointing moment. As my voice was rejected, people were scared, people were running away from me as they were not accustomed with this new voice. Instead of giving up, I accepted that rejection, that challenge, that adverse situation wholeheartedly, and I continued speaking simply by making sure that I am Profoundly audible, and I continued speaking, and my life started flowing once again like river. In 2011, my cancer surgeon asked me to counsel a vocal cord cancer patient, and I could successfully convince him for undergoing surgery. And that particular incident ignited a new spark in my career apart from international marketing. To human counselor, and I delved into one-to-one and group counseling till date. Few years later, my journey was published. Under the title of I Am Pierre Donsley in the first chapter of the book. And during the book launch, I was invited to deliver a talk, which was quite a surprise for me. But I could adequately deliver my talk in front of 500+ audience, and that particular incident given me and opportunity to become public speaker. And since then, I am super fortunate to deliver over 8,000 hours of wisdom globally. And quite lucky to touch the lives of over 100,000 people as a speaker, mentor, and storyteller. Friends, It is not much important who I am, but important is adding momentum, adding relentless momentum despite speaking disability. And empowering the life of the people, particularly cancer patients, survivors, and supporting caregivers through counseling and public speaking. What is important here is You need to have an attitude of accepting the challenge, understanding the challenge, and troubleshooting the challenge with courage. Confidence, unwavering determination, and commitment. Let me add few more things here. You need to have patience, you need to have patience, and you need to have perseverance. Combining all these factors Believe me, you can make impossible possible. Ideally, you need to show up confidently and consistently, and this is what exactly Ever in my life. Imagine a vocal cord cancer survivor featured on the iconic Times Square, New York, on 23rd of July, 2023, throughout the day. Every hour, and if I can do it, you can do it as well. Important is you need to have the laser focus mindset. You need to build your own image beyond boundaries. You need to build bridges between head, heart, and gut. And when you manage these factors, nobody can stop you. I am not, not a doctor, but I was invited to deliver talk in medical colleges and motivating graduates, undergraduate, postgraduate, and faculties. In medical colleges, invited to deliver talks in U.S. and U.K., and there was an instance I was invited to address 2,500 global attendees through my case study presentation for 40 minutes in U.S. I had a privilege. To address over 1,000 attendees at India's number one B-school, that is IIM Ahmedabad, in the last year. My clear strategy is When challenges come, don't think about why this has happened, why me. No, you need to break the cycle of the challenges. You need to troubleshoot the challenges and find the way out. And don't ever run away from challenges. And for that, you need to have courage, you need to have confidence, and you need to have patience and perseverance, and things will start flowing. Gradually, for sure. One more point I would like to add here is be remain empathetic instead of pathetic, and once you become And by that, you will become people's person. People would love you. And the best part is you can make Your age. You want to already know me as a simply number. Stay seatbelt fastened. Get ready to take off. Give your friends, relatives. And all your wear visors on your wings and get ready to take off. And you can most certainly touch horizon for sure. And this is how You can lead quality life. It will not be out of place to share my 2 different experiences. One of my friend introduced me to a young author about my journey, and he talked to me for half an hour over phone, followed by some call, and that young author proposed to write my biography. And that's how my book, My Biography, Shrenik Shah, is published. And is available globally on Amazon. On the different note, I would like to give an example of the magic of this clarion voice. At 26 weeks, thyroid cancer survivor contacted me through Facebook and she wanted an appointment in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, which was very difficult to get instantly. And I told her, don't worry, I will do my best. I contacted the head and neck cancer surgeon in Tata Memorial, and now look the benefit of this voice. When I called him, he could immediately understand that there is a Shrenik Shah on other end. I explained him the entire scenario of that 26 weeks pregnant lady. She was needing the appointment very badly, and you know what? That cancer surgeon was too kind, and he has given appointment and asked me to talk to the Lady. To come the other day, that is the third day, at room number 12, 9:30 AM, and things. And she, she could— she was very well examined and she could relieve because, you know, everything was quite normal. So it's all about using Your voice has the power to make things impossible possible, and that is the beauty of life as a little gnomie. Trust me, life as a little gnomie is not End of the life, but it is altogether new chapter of the life, new chapter of the divine life 2.0, where you can be unstoppable. Don't permit your speaking disability, don't take control of your life. And remain a major force like Airbus A380-800 and touch horizon. And make sure that you become people's person and you can inspire countless lives globally. Thank you so very much, and I'm sure you will like listening to me. And maybe one day, with my friend Dr. Wojtek, I will be in Poland to deliver my talk in person. Thank you so very much. Have a great time. Have a great 2024. And many, many more years to come. Bye.
