Make your vision board with me!

Sidhika Goenka walks through making a vision board with her kids Miraaya and Rianchi. Start with a photo of yourself in the center, write five words you want to be known for, then list concrete habits like chanting 10 minutes at 8 am or drinking 8 glasses of water daily. The idea is that seeing your goals every day programs your subconscious to make them happen.

Hi everybody! Hello, Mirai, you want to say hi? Hello! Hi! So it's 1st of January 2022 and we're here to make a family vision chart. Are you all ready with me? Are you all making your vision charts? So we're gonna start with our boards that we have ready. We're making our vision charts today, guys! Vision board! Get your children involved. Mine are here. Mera hai Rianchi. Rianchi, you can come here and say hello. We're all going to make our vision charts today and we're going to really, really follow this and we're gonna make it come true. So are you all ready? Great. So let me start by asking Miraaya, my little daughter here. She's gonna tell us. Miraaya, what is a vision chart?
A vision chart is a chart where— a vision chart is a chart where we write all our things that we want to achieve this year.
So what are some things that you think you'd like to achieve, Miraya?
Um, I think I want to get some time for myself instead of playing the whole day and getting busy in classes. I want some time for myself too.
What would you like to achieve, you know, physically, mentally, academically, socially, spiritually?
Academically, I think I would like to achieve like all the things which I'm not good at, the subjects that I'm not good at. Improve them more. And the subjects that I'm good at, even like 15 minutes a day is okay because I'm good at those subjects. But the ones I'm bad at, we need like half an hour, 40 minutes a day.
Absolutely great. So you're going to be doing that, right? Awesome. Rianchi, what would you like in your vision chart? You'd like to be politer? Spend more time studying. Yes, yes. All right, so in our vision chart today, there are a few things that we're going to be doing. What I have done is take a board, and you can just kind of paste different color papers on the board. I want to kind of divide my life in different aspects. So for this year, for 2022, I want to grow in all the different aspects. So what I'm going to do actually is I'm going to take a picture. I'm gonna take my picture to remind myself of myself every single day. So when I see it, I get inspired and encouraged. And I'm going to paste my picture in the center of my vision board. I'm gonna paste my picture on the center of my vision board, right? Are you all doing it with me? Is there anybody who's making the vision board with me? If you are, let's do this together. Get your children involved, get your husband with you, and let's all make it a family vision board day. We're all doing it here and we are super, super excited. Yeah, so we're all going to be sticking our picture on the center of our vision boards. After sticking this in the center, I'm going to write 5 words that I want people to recognize me as in this new year. You know, everybody has their own way of making vision boards. A vision board is something that you want to manifest. It is, it is basically a positive affirmation on paper that you want to see every single day. And instead of saying it to yourself, because there are times we forget, right, you want to just see it. And your brain has photographic memory, right? So every time it sees the vision board it kind of imprints it in the subconscious mind, and then your subconscious mind starts working to make it come true. So what I'm going to do is I have my picture in the center. Now I'm going to just write about 5 or 6 words that I want to really, really be known for in this year. So it could be something like, I want people to, you know, perceive me as thankful. I want to be thankful this year. I want to come across as blessed this year. I want to come across as very happy this year. So what are some words that I really want to achieve this year? I'm going to write those words down. Okay, so let's get on with it. You can take different colored pens and you can just write 5 words that you want to be known as, that you want to remind yourself of every single day. So my first pick is grateful.
I really—
wow, I really want to come across as grateful. I want to be extremely grateful. I want everybody to think that I'm always happy, I'm always grateful and in full gratitude with the universe and with God. I want to be grateful. I want to be more grateful. So the first word that I've written is grateful. The next word that I really think I honestly want to be is humble. Humble is an important quality that I want to imbibe in my life because I feel humility is a great way to really feel rooted, to feel that you're counting your blessings twice. And to feel content with yourself. Because honestly, success is never enough. Whatever heights, whatever heights you go to, it'll always be, oh, I can do more, oh, I can do more. But I want to be humble. I want to— I want people to feel that I'm humble, I'm approachable, you know, I am relatable, I can be of help. So humility is a quality that I want to imbibe in my life. Successful. Yes, successful is good. So my kids are also writing it themselves on their own. This is a great activity to do. I will show it to you once they've done it. After humble, it's u-c-c-e-s-s-f-u-l. The next word, the next quality that I want to imbibe in my life is I want to really be It's okay, you can write it. I want to really be adventurous. I want to really be risk-taking. I want to take risks. I want to knock on new opportunities, and I really want to, you know, try new things. I don't want to just get defeated by failures. I want to always be open to new opportunities. I want to be relentless. I want to be fearless, and I want to keep trying. So I'm going to write fearless. And honestly, in this year of COVID In this year of the third wave, I think fearless is a great, great quality that we all need to write in our vision charts. We all need to be fearless because honestly, we're again scared by the virus. We're again scared by, um, the ill effects of children being at home, not going to school. So one thing that I want to constantly tell myself every day that I am fearless. I can handle this. I can do this and I will do it. So the third quality I've written is fearless. I've also written fearless. Oh, nice! The next one, um, can you all give me any ideas? Anything that you would like to add in your vision board? Anything that you would like to add in your vision board? If you can give me some ideas that you would like to add, that would be great. I would love to add those. Um, what else would I like to be? Miraiah, can you think of something? Humble, grateful, fearless. I want to be, um, I want to be really spiritual. You know, that is something that I've always wanted to gain in my life. You know, I feel Spirituality is something that, um, you know, you feel you're spiritual but you don't do it every day. You know, I— so I really, I really want to chant, I really want to do a lot of meditation, and what happens is I do it 4 or 5 days a week and rest of the days I kind of just get lazy. So one thing that I want to do regularly is chant daily. Okay, that I'm going to add in my habits actually, sorry. Those are really nice. Resilient. So resilient is great. Resilient is again, you know, want, um, being resilient. Nothing can really put you down, right? Positive, polite, great. So optimistic. Yes, I would love to be optimistic. I think that would also come in fearless, um, you know, fearlessly handling situations, optimistically handling situations. Very nice. Would you like to show it on the video? Could you Can you show it to everybody? So this is Miraya's. These are the words that she has written by herself. So it's a great way. It's a great way of making children, reminding them what they should be and what they are. So grateful, humble, fearless. Yes, I'm going to write positive. I want to always think positively. That's a lovely one. I want to think positively. I want to always be positive. Right, positive. And one last one that I would like to also be remembered as is impactful. You know, honestly, as a counselor, as a coach, I want to come across as impactful. I want to make sure I'm doing meaningful work. I'm actually making an impact and I'm really doing something meaningful to to the people around me. So impactful is my 5th word. Now these are the qualities that I want to be reminded of every day, and these are the qualities I want people to remember me of always. Now the next thing that I'm going to write in my vision board— you can actually do anything. You can write these words, then you can also write habits that you want to add, habits that you want to make sure, habits that you want to inculcate every day in your life. My 6-year-old has done this. Rianchi, come here and show it. So this is again a great way. See, Rianchi, she has done this vision board. She's written these words by herself. So get your families together and do this. It's a super, super family ritual. It'll make you feel fantastic. It'll make you feel positive. Do it. Now the next thing that I'm going to write is habits. Habits that I want to inculcate this year. So I'm going to write, um, habits here. Habits. Now I'm going to write some habits that I would really like to inculcate this year. Can you all tell me some habits that you would like to add in your year? Some habits that you would like to really implement? The first one that I want to write is chant daily. I want to make sure that I do some kind of chanting, whatever it is. It could even be I believe in myself. It could be Om Namah Bhagavate Vasudevaya. It could be Buddhist chanting. It could be Hanuman Chalisa. It could be whatever I sow is what I reap. Every cause has an effect. Just anything. I want to make sure that I spend 10 minutes of chanting every day. Now let me tell you a trick. When you make your vision board, something that is important is you need to be very specific. So now, um, Deepti, here you have written wake up early. That's great. What I would request you to do is put in a time and put in how many times a week would you like to do that. So if I am saying chant daily, because I'm making this like a goal-setting vision board, I'm going to make it very specific. So I will write chant 108 times or chant for 10 minutes every day at 8 AM. Yes, so I'm going to write that. Chant. Chant for 10 minutes At 8 AM. So now I have written chant for 10 minutes at 8 AM daily. Every single day I want to make sure that I chant at 8 AM. Now this will just give me direction. Correct. Yes. I want to make sure that I actually follow this and every day I am chanting, every day I am doing it. Right? So chanting for 10 minutes at 8 AM is one habit that I want to follow. Wake up early. Yes, wake up early is another one that I would like to do. So maybe I would write something like, I want to wake up at 6 AM every day, right? Another habit that I would like to inculcate is I want to spend 15 minutes of communication and bonding with my child every day. So spend 15 minutes of communicating with my family. Now this doesn't mean just playing with them or sitting with them. It also means actually talking to them and asking them what are their highs, what are their lows, how do they feel when I did something, how did it make them feel, Really getting them to communicate, getting them to understand their feelings, and making my children really understand, you know, what was the intention of any action. So communicating feelings, I want to start doing that more with my husband, with my children. Yes, very nice. I would really like to do that. That is the next habit that I have written. Any other habits?
I want to write working hard. Good.
Can you think of any other habits? So my children here are busy writing their own habits. And they're really doing very well. I hope you have got your 5-year-olds, 8-year-olds, 10-year-olds to do this. Another habit that I want to actually inculcate that I have not been doing is the habit of reading. So I have stopped reading completely, which is something that I want to start again. So I'm going to write, I want to read at night every day. Read at night. Can you all think of any other habits that you would like to inculcate? Any other habits that you would like to put in your vision board? It can also be habits of, you know, saving money, or habits of appreciating the other person. It could be, I want to compliment my friends more. I want to praise my family members more. So those are habits. Next column, maybe a column here, you can write how you want to enhance your physical health, what you would like to do for your physical health. So I'm going to be writing physical—
can I try?
So this can be physical and mental health. Actually, it can be health in general. How you would like to enhance your health. Now here you can write anything about whether you want to lose weight, how much weight do you want to lose, and how you're going to do that. It can be things like exercising. I want to exercise daily. It can also be, um, I want to say positive affirmations to myself every day. So positive affirmations. Anything that you can do to enhance your health, you must write it down. Honestly, the vision board will guide you in all aspects of your life— physical, mental, um, personality-wise, professionally, personally, as a parent. Also habits that you would like to inculcate. Drink at least 3 liters of water every day. That's great. Why don't you go here and show it to everybody? Come here. So I would also— that's a great one. I'm going to write that. Drink 8 glasses of water daily. Okay, so this is what I would like to do in my health. Now comes a very important one. I'm going to write some things I want to be as a mother. You know, sometimes we just become a mother very unintentionally. We don't even think about How we should be a good mother or what we should do to be a good mother. So I'm going to write this as a mother, the characteristics that I would like to inculcate in myself as a mother. Can you tell me any? I'm sure we have a lot here.
I want to.
So my first thing is I want to be more patient. How many of you agree? Yeah, so I want to be more patient. Especially when my children are getting extremely cranky and they're saying, "Mama, mama, mama, mama, mama," I want to be patient. The next thing is I don't want to scream. I want to resolve not to scream. Anything that I say, I'm going to think, frame it in a better way, and then say it. Does that make sense? I want to think and then talk. I don't want to scream. So I'm going to write that. Think and then talk. No screaming. Thank you, mothers. Y'all are amazing. I'm loving the comments. Jaswinder, I love that. Be a good listener and connect before complaining. So this is really, really great and it's so important. But how do I actually implement it? You know, when I'm angry, I forget to become a good listener, right? When I'm really angry or when I'm like, my child is being so unreasonable, you know, we have to go out and my child is constantly doing cha cha cha cha cha, doesn't want to eat, I'm troubled, I'm tired, what do I do? I can't connect. I get angry. I start screaming, I lose my cool. I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to stop, I'm going to take a deep breath, and I'm going to just explain it to them calmly and tell them, you have 5 minutes, we are getting late, we need to leave. I will turn on the timer on for 5 minutes and I will wait at the door. And I'll make sure they come, right? Because nothing happens by screaming. So I'm going to be a good listener and I'm going to connect with my children more, be more tolerant. Absolutely. Be more friendly with teenagers. Yes, that's great, Maima. That's great, becoming more friendly. So I'm going to think and then talk. I'm not going to scream. I'm going to be more patient. I'm also going to try and put myself in my children's shoes. How would it feel if I lost my favorite toy? How would it feel if my friend stopped talking to me? How would I feel if I had not done my homework and my teacher screamed at me? So instead of constantly complaining and shouting at my children, I will really understand from their point of view. Does that make sense? So these are some things that I'm going to inculcate in myself as a mother. Any other things that we can put in our vision goal? Any other things that we can put in our vision board? So Miraya, would you like to share the habits that you have put in yours? Can you read it out? Come here, come here, come here.
Exercise daily, wake up at 6:40 AM. 5 every day. Work on subjects that I'm bad at.
Excellent. Try not labeling them. Great, very nice, Jaswinder. This is something that we end up doing a lot. Oh, my child is very lazy. My child is very cranky. She's always crying. She's always stubborn. She just doesn't listen. Wo baat miri sunti hi nahi hai. Wo tangi karte rehti hai mei ko usko toh kuch, you know, usko acha hi nahi nahi tha hai kuch. Wo kuch nahi khaati. Wo pure time TV dekhi hai. Things like that. We need to stop doing that. Instead of labeling them, show children a better personality of themselves. Show them when they are good, what happens. See, I'll tell you something, children don't want to be bad. Poo jaan much ke aapko tang nahin karengi. Poo tang tabhi karengi aapko jab unhe kuch ho raha hai ander se. When they are uncomfortable from inside, When they are not feeling good from inside, that is the time when they will trouble you or they will be irritable. Try and understand that. Ap usse samjo ki kyo hai, why is she behaving like this? Esa kya ho gaya hai? Why is my 3-year-old hitting? O kisko dekhe mar rahi hai? O kyo mar rahi hai? Or main usse kaise help kar sakte hain? If you can have some questions in your mind like that, ki how can I help my children? How can I help her become the person she wants to be? It'll really help you, trust me. Let's get back to our vision chart. So we've written our health, physical and mental health. We've written how to be a better mother, and we've written some habits that we want to inculcate in ourselves. Um, Nichi, you can also write some books that you would like to read. You can name some books that you would like to read. You can also write your goals. So I'm going to go ahead and do that. My next point in my vision chart are my goals. Let me tell you something, I think most of you know this because we're all kind of focusing on the law of attraction. Aaj kal all of us are really behind the law of attraction. Whenever you write your goal, jabhi bhi aap apna goal likhte ho, the likelihood of the goal to become true is more, right? Agar aap man mein kuch bhi sochenge, toh woh badalta rehta hai. So it doesn't always come true, but agar aap mujhe likhte hain and likke roj apni koshish karte hain, goal ke taraf bharane ki, toh we definitely make it true. So I'm going to write my goals. My first goal is I am publishing my book in in 2 weeks. So my first goal is to market my book and to make sure it reaches as many people as it can and they benefit from the book. So I really want at least, I don't know, 10,000 people in the beginning to read my book and benefit from it. So my first goal is 10,000 people to read my book. The second goal is I want to genuinely, um, do more live sessions, which I really enjoy, and do more sessions to benefit people. So I'm going to write more live sessions is what I want to do. The third thing is I don't want to be lazy. I want to make sure that I fulfill my goal, I stride towards my goal, and I really, really accomplish it, and I do it consistently. Consistently. So my keyword here is consistency. Yeah, for Tuesday break, for Wednesday, Thursday break. So I want to be consistent. I also want to grow on Instagram consistently. So everybody watching me, if you're liking my life, if you're liking my vision board, please, please, please go share it with your friends, share it with people you love, tell them about me. Only if you benefited from it. It'll really help me grow and it'll also help me make my goal come true. So this is my vision board. These are the things I've written. Now I'm going to also, I can use crayons to put some words, I can put some pictures in it, I can draw pictures, I can stick pictures of my family, I can stick pictures of me, me teaching. I can also use the magazine and write anything that I feel, any pictures I want to stick. One thing that I'm going to do in it is I'm going to write a quote. Very nice. I'm going to write a quote on my vision board. So the quote that I'm going to write is, your thoughts— this is something that I believe in— your thoughts become your feelings. Your feelings become actions, and what you do will determine how far you will go. So mind your thoughts. Whatever you are thinking is going to become how you feel. If you think you are happy, you will feel happy. If you think God has given you enough, you will feel grateful. If you think that God is kind to you, you will feel blessed. Control your thoughts. That is the only thing you can control in this world. Control your thoughts. Your thoughts become your feelings, and your feelings then become your action. Because if you're feeling happy, you start doing things that actually make you happy, right? When you feel happy, you have coffee, you meet your friends, you go out, you pay You draw, you read, you do everything that makes you happy because you're feeling happy. And then when you're actually thinking of the happiness, when you are doing something, that actually determines how far you will go in life. You're— at the end of the day, it is your actions that are going to determine how far you go. Your actions are influenced by your thoughts and your feelings, right? So this is my vision board. I hope all of you enjoyed listening to me. I hope you all enjoyed creating your vision board with me. You can make it as creative as you want. These are the vision boards of my daughters. Go ahead and show it. Miraya, show yours. Yeah, no problem. Show as much as you've done. This is Miraya's vision board, and this is my little 6-year-old's vision board. Yay! So I hope you all enjoyed listening to me and listening to our family vision board time. See you next year. I mean, no, sorry, see you tomorrow. The next year has already started. Wishing you a very, very, very happy 2022. Get rid of all your fears. Live a fearless life. Live a grateful life. Live a life full of humility, positivity, and try and create impact wherever you are. You don't have to be working to create impact. You can create impact in your family, you can create impact with your children, you can create impact with your friends, you can create impact at your workplace. Wherever you go, resolve to give your 100%, not 90%, not 95%. Wherever you are, if you are at a party, give your 100%. If you are in a lunch, give your 100%. When you're with your mother-in-law, give your 100%. It's difficult to give your 100%, but don't compromise because you're worth it and you have all the potential in the world to feel happy to feel fulfilled, and to feel at peace. You have it in you. You don't need anyone else to make you happy. You can do it, and you can create and spread happiness wherever you go. Bye! See you! Happy vision board making! Happy vision board making! Say bye! Happy vision board making! Get your children to make their own vision board. See, Miraya is really pretty. Miraya, see Riaan, she is— it's amazing if you make your 6-year-olds also do it, they will do a superb job. Thank you so much, Deepti. So sweet of you. Let's be absolutely open with compliments. Let's give compliments to everybody around us because when we are feeling good, we make others feel good, right? Let's not wait for others to make us feel good. You feel good from within. And make everybody around you feel good. Thank you. Have a blessed day. May God bless you. May you realize your potential and shine from within. Thank you so much. Y'all made my day. Bye.
