In this segment of the A‑Z series on cultivating high self‑esteem, the speaker focuses on the letter D, defining it as “direct.” She explains two complementary meanings: (1) being direct—open, transparent, and straightforward in speech, thoughts, and opinions; and (2) directing one’s energy—consciously channeling mental and emotional resources toward personal strengths, positive attributes, and daily goals. Practical tips include affirming one’s appearance and mood each morning, setting a clear intention for a good day, and maintaining a positive, productive focus. The talk concludes with encouragement to apply these principles and a preview of the next letter, E.

Hi, you're watching the A to Z series of how to inculcate a high self-esteem. Now yesterday we were talking about compliment. I believe that when you make others feel good, you start feeling good. Your self-esteem, you know, takes a step further because you're making everyone else feel good around you. When you're complimenting others, you start feeling good about yourself, you start complimenting yourself. Anyway, today I'm going with the letter D, and for letter D, I have the word direct. So now, I believe the word direct really helps in inculcating a high self-esteem. Direct here can have two meanings. One is to be direct, to be open, to be straightforward. Any opinion that you have, whatever you feel, I think it's always good to be transparent, to be clear, and to be direct in your speech, in your opinions, in your thoughts. The other context of direct is to direct your energy. Now, I believe when you have to feel confident, when you want to feel good about yourself in the morning when you're going to work, you want to feel confident, you want to feel like you have a healthy, high, and strong sense of self and a strong self-esteem. Then if you direct all your energy Towards your strengths, towards all your positive attributes, and kind of channelize your energy towards the positive line rather than the negative side. In the morning when you're going to work, direct your energy. Tell yourself you're looking good. Tell yourself you're feeling good. Have a very direct focus that today I'm going to have a good day. I'm going to feel good. So direct all the energy that you have around you into your goal. Into your positive attitude and into what you want to do today. So all the best. Direct all your energy and make today an extremely fruitful day. Remember, be direct, be open, and direct all the positive aura around you into something productive. Have a great day. See you tomorrow with the letter E.
