The Letter H

The letter H stands for Highlight: consciously emphasize the strengths of yourself and others, just like a highlighter marks important text. Praising strengths in your spouse, kids, and friends raises their self-esteem and boosts your own, creating a cycle of confidence.
Chapters
Hi, welcome back to the A to Z series of inculcating a high self-esteem. Yesterday we were talking about giving up, giving up any habit that is affecting your self-esteem in any way. Today we're talking just the opposite of that.
We're talking about H. H for highlight.
Remember when you were in school? You used to highlight things that were important to you in a textbook. You used different color highlighters—
yellow, pink, blue, green—
to highlight all the important facts that would register in your brain. So when you actually highlighted a fact which you wanted to remember, you realized that it would actually register in your brain because you were highlighting it.
Similarly, use this in your adult life. Highlight people's strengths. Highlight, highlight, highlight.
Your spouse—
highlight his or her strengths. Anything that's good about them, highlight it, elaborate on it, talk about it, praise it. Downplay his or her weaknesses, but highlight the strengths.
Highlight your children's strengths.
To increase and enhance their self-esteem, highlight their strength, highlight the things they are good at. Highlight the situations, the accomplishments that they've had.
Highlight their qualities. You will notice once you highlight their qualities, you will diminish their weaknesses.
Highlight your family members' qualities. Remember the times your mother-in-law, your mother, your children, your friends, your parents were there for you. Remember those times. Highlight those times. Highlight all the positives, highlight the love you receive, highlight the appreciation you receive, highlight everything that's good about the other person to increase their self-esteem. And remember, when you increase their self-esteem, what happens? In turn, you increase your self-esteem. So highlight their strengths, highlight their good points.
In turn highlight your good points and eventually have a super strong, a super healthy, a super confident, a super bright you. I'm so excited to see the new you.
So today, highlight. Imagine you have a highlighter and you're highlighting your strengths.
All the best, happy highlighting. See you tomorrow with the letter I. Bye!
