V is for visualize. Mental imagery drives goal achievement and builds self-esteem. The presenter shares how nightly visualization of herself as an assistant professor made it real, then walks you through creating a vision chart to display where you'll see it every day.

Hi, you're watching the A to Z series of increasing your self-esteem. Yesterday we spoke about unique selling proposition. What is your USP? What makes you stand out from the others? What makes you different? I hope you have identified that. Today I have the letter V, and for V I have visualize. The power of visualization is really manifold. When you actually imagine something in your head, you try all means to make it come true. Take a minute right now and think about your dream 5 years from now. What do you want to do? Where do you see yourself? How do you see yourself? Are you working? Are you not working? Are you looking old? Are you looking young? Where are you going? What are you doing? Doing. Once you have imagined that in your head, picturize it. Picture it in your mind. Fill it with colors. Draw it out. Make outlines and imagine that and smile. Then draw it on paper. So any goal, dream, ambition that you see yourself 5 years from now, draw that on paper. Make it nice. Draw it out with details. Write down things. Draw it out. Visualize it. Once you draw your dream, you can stick this paper on your cupboard somewhere where you see it every single day. Your brain works like magic. We have vision charts. When you draw your dream, you can— and you keep seeing it every day, your brain actually imprints it. It's called a vision chart. And once you keep seeing it, you make it come true. You believe in it, you make it come true. So visualize your dreams, visualize your strengths. A great way to enhance your self-esteem is to visualize yourself the way you see yourself perfectly, how you would want your ideal self to be. So visualize your strengths, write down, okay, I would like to be strong, so maybe draw some muscles, or I would like to be intelligent, so draw a brain, write down intelligent, or I would like to have good logical thinking, so, you know, maybe you could draw a light bulb. Draw the things that you want in your life. Draw the things that you want in your personality. Visualize it, create it, and then you will make it come true. I want to end with a small example. In my life, whenever I have wanted something, I have strongly, consciously visualized it in my life, and it's happened. In university, I wanted the position of a professor, um, at the age of my postgraduate time when I wanted a teaching assistantship. I actually visualized it. So the night before I went to sleep, I visualized myself dressed up as an assistant professor walking into a classroom of around 30-40 students, you know, wearing glasses, having my hair tied, entering the classroom and teaching confidently. And that dream came true only through the power of visualization. So today Visualize what you want 5 years from now and how you want to be tomorrow. Have a great day. See you next time.
