5 Stages Of True Influence
15 Jan 2024 · 8 min
A short podcast transcript in which Siddharth Rajsekar explains his model of "true influence" as a five-stage process (intention, intuition, faith, action, impact). He contrasts superficial social-media popularity with deep, life-changing influence rooted in pure intention and contribution, and describes how intention activates intuition, which requires faith and leads to action (impact discussed earlier in metadata).

So what is influence? What does it really mean? Is it like you're going to be on social media and influence a lot of people? Are you a creator who's getting millions of views and likes and followers on your content, or is it something else? Now, what is influence? In this podcast, I want to share with you my perspective on the five stages of influence and how you need to really go through these different stages to truly influence somebody. So an influencer, according to me, is not somebody who's popular. An influencer is somebody who's able to have a deep impression on a person who can shift their way of thinking and their life. Okay, they may not be a creator creator. Like, there are many people who are, you know, talking so much online, but who have very less impact on their listeners. So according to me, an influencer is somebody who can have a deep impression on their audience and to such a point where the person's life can actually shift, that is an influencer. When you go back in time, there are many people, many saints in our time who have come in, there have been moments where people have had just minutes of interaction with them and their life has completely transformed and shifted. Now that, according to me, is true influence. Because they are coming from a space of purity, they're coming from a space of contribution. They're not having their own issues or layers or filters. They're, you know, coming from a zone of such transparency that what they say, what they do, the way they interact with a fellow person, it really impacts their life on a deep level. And I've experienced this with my own spiritual master and who's had a huge influence on me and the way that I think and my whole perspective of life with just few moments of interaction with him. And many of you from the spiritual paths and different paths that you've been following, you might have had these experiences. And even if you come from a non religious, you know, background, that could be, that could have been moments in your life where.
Some person, or let's say nature, or you experience something that really shifted you internally and, and that influenced you to think on a totally different paradigm. So if you have to be a true influencer, I'm not talking about the creator influencer. The first stage is intention. Like, even if you go and see the different kinds of ceremonies that normally we do, let's say before a marriage ceremony in a traditional Indian wedding is, we do something called as a sankalpa, or before you're doing a prayer or a havan or any kind of, you know, any kind of spiritual activity, we normally set the intention. And actually if you see in our Indian Vedic traditions, they also take the Sankalpa and you have to give the name of your lineage, what we call as a gotra, what is your lineage and then name of the person and the Nakshatra of the person and the star of that particular person, what was the star that they are born. So to that extent you can actually set an intention which is pointed towards a specific person in a specific lineage born under a specific star. Now how does it work? I do not know, but it's been something that's been going on for thousands and thousands of years where before any family function, or any function for that matter, intention is very key. Now the same happens even in business. Right. If you want to be an influencer, you need to know why you want to do this. I've had a friend of mine who's a very renowned astrologer and he has mapped out charts of countries like when India was formed in the year 1947. He actually mapped out the chart for India based on the time of its incest perception. And he was able to correlate and come up with the traits of a country as compared to say Pakistan, which was, you know, they had their independence maybe the next day or a few hours later. And its chart was different. So it is going through a different set of challenges as compared to India. Okay, so why am I sharing this with you? Is.
Intention has such a huge role to play in the way that you influence somebody? Intention is everything. So Sankalpa is why are you doing what you're doing? Is it for your self interest or is it for contributing and giving back? At a very core level, this is something that, I mean, you can't bullshit yourself on this. You got to really get real and, and find that. And the best part is even if you start with an intention, just with, you know, with a self centered intention, it can be purified over time. Once you're able to understand that, for me it was, that's the case. I want to just make money, make money, make money. And then when I came in contact with my mentor, Blair Singer, and he really drove in the point that it is not about you, it is about them and how teachers are leaders and all of that stuff. It really shifted my whole paradigm view of building a business and teaching and leading and so on. It's a very different school of thought. The second stage of influence is intuition.
I think I've said this in a few of my other colleges. When your intention is pure, your intuition gets activated. It's not that your intuition won't be there if your intention is not pure, but then it won't be the right. It's not a guided intuition. It's not an intuition where it's really going to make a difference and so on. Okay, let's put it this way. When, when you have a child, let's say you have done a conscious conception where you consciously think about what kind of a child that you want and you go through the conscious pregnancy process. And then when the child is born.
The mental makeup and the spiritual makeup and the overall what the child is made of, it's very different compared to a child that might have been born in ignorance. Let's say the parents, they conceived the child and they did not plan the child, but the child just happened. And, and that child or that soul that's coming in it has a different, you know, thought process. Okay? Similarly, when your intentions are clear, your intuition gets activated on a whole different level. It's not that the child is bad or good, it's just that the clarity that the child would have if it's brought into this world consciously, it would be far different compared to the know children are bought, brought into this world without that, that kind of conscious conception. And that's how I want to, you know, decode intuition. Intuition is like giving birth to new ideas. And these are all guided intuitions. Okay? The third stage of influence, when your intention is pure, you'll start to get downloads from different places. By the way, even this, what I'm sharing with you, when I was in mysore for like 15 days, I was just thinking about what is influence? And these five points came. Okay. It was just like a download. And I'm just sharing that with you in this podcast. The third stage of influence is faith. Sometimes we get the intuitions, but we don't believe in it. We'll be like, oh, whatever, you know, and life is too, what do you say? Life is too noisy. That we don't really listen to our inner core. So we need to have faith in ourselves. We need to have faith in our own intuitions.
And then comes the fourth stage is action.
When you are guided internally and you believe in yourself and the message that comes to you because you have the right intention. And when you take action in that mode.
That'S what will create an impact. That is stage number five. An impact is it may just be a few things that you're telling somebody, but it just lands, just goes really deep into somebody's. You know, into their tissues. Okay. When they hear it, they just feel what you're saying. Now that is influence. But if you look at most of the influencers today in the digital world, intentions are all over the place. I'm not sure they guide it intuitively. I don't know if they even believe in themselves. They just wanted. They're just taking action for the sake of something. They are having an impact, they are having reach, they are having views, they are having, you know, the popularity and they're going through. They've understood the science of the game. But is it really making a difference to the person's life who's listening to it? That is questionable. And it can vary from person to person. Okay, it can vary from. To what? To what depth is that person working on themselves. So in other words, the deeper you work on yourself, the wider your impact can be true. Influence is only when you go to these five stages of intention, intuition, faith, action and impact. I hope you found this podcast useful.
