Siddharth Rajsekar presents a podcast on "7 Hacks Of Effective Communication," drawing on his extensive webinar/video/podcast experience to teach practical communication skills for digital contexts. He frames communication across offline (one-to-one, stage) and online (YouTube, Instagram, podcasts, text) formats and emphasizes that words are the core building blocks. In this chunk he introduces three hacks: (1) listen effectively (listen more than you speak; observe tonality, modulation, accent; read/watch aligned topics), (2) process and digest information (recollect, revise, use mind maps, maintain a scrapbook of ideas), and (3) begin strong on writing (copywriting) — the third hack is only introduced here.
Communication is key. If you're not able to communicate your ideas effectively, then there's no way that you can actually get ahead in a digital world, especially with so much going on online. So I'm going to be sharing with you my take on good communication skills.
You know, words have power and you can communicate in so many different ways through text, through video, through audio. And in this format I'm doing an audio podcast. You know, I've done more than six to 700 webinars, like multiple hundreds, find 600 videos and currently as I'm recording this podcast, over 170 podcasts. So I think I know a little bit about communication based on my own experience. There are so many videos you may see on YouTube, so many, so many courses that you may have come across on communication skills. I'm just going to tell you what works for me and I want to share with you like seven hacks that I apply for myself that has really helped me a lot. See, there are two ways or the two domains in which you can communicate. One is the offline communication. Online communication offline is like one to one speaking to a person or even one to many speaking from a stage. Online. There's video format. When you're communicating through YouTube slightly you need to understand how to deliver that when you're doing it on Instagram, Instagram, small reels, short format, long format, different rules that are there in communication over there. And then when you're recording audio, in this case when I'm doing podcasts, I have a slightly different style as compared to how I would do it on YouTube. And of course textual communication. Text is your written word, stuff that you write. Long form emails, long form sales letters, as well as short form text. Like right from the kind of messages that you would post on WhatsApp and messenger based communication versus social media based communication. So the fundamental is words. Okay? Words are the building blocks of any form of communication. Like, just like how our body is made up of 80% of water. The entire planet Earth is made up of 80% of water. Similarly, 80% of your entire communication is built around words that you speak. So the first hack to become a good communicator is to listen effectively. You know, God has given us two ears and one mouth. Use it in that proportion, okay? Listen more than you speak. So you can listen by reading books. So when I say listen by reading is when you're reading a book, you can actually listen to the sound of the, of the author who's writing every single word. So that's One way, or when you're watching a video on YouTube. Or of course.
Don'T just listen to the content, but also observe the tonality, observe the voice modulations, observe the accent. All those things actually connect, okay? And also.
You can become a better listener by learning things that you love, okay? Topics that align with you. So that's the first hack. The second hack is once you're learning and once you're listening to stuff, you got to digest that information, right? So to become a better communicator, you need to learn how to process your information. Like in my case, I like to recollect whatever I've learned. I like to reinforce and share that. I like to revise. I use a lot of mind maps to document my ideas. So mind mapping has helped me a lot to digest the information. And I also maintain a scrapbook of ideas. Be it, you know, notes or buzzwords or hooks or headlines or things that are very catchy. I have a scrapbook of ideas that I always go back to to get inspiration from, to come back to as I'm doing more. So the more videos I record, the more audio podcasts I record, and the more I write emails, that whole process becomes much better. Okay, so now let's come to the. The third hack is writing.
Writing. I'm talking about actual copywriting.
A lot of people don't under, don't understand the importance of this. Some of the best marketers in the world who are good communicators are great copywriters. They know how to construct the words in a written format or even if you're typing it out. Okay? So for that, like I mentioned, maintenance, care, scrapbook of ideas, maintain a set of power words that you use and also keep saving attractive ads, attractive messages, attractive hooks. Like sometimes when I'm driving, going in a cab, I see a really attractive billboard and I was just going on a flight, Indigo, from one city to the other. And I just opened up their magazine and I saw the way that they constructed their headline, their buttons, their description. And I took a snapshot of that, okay? And then I started to use that in my own style of writing. So you can get ideas from everywhere. So writing is such an important hack to become an effective communicator. Number four is the creation part. Like once you have listened and learned, once you have digested the information, once you start writing now, how can you create your written word into other media? Short form videos, like reels, long form videos on YouTube, podcasts, like what I'm doing right now, emails, long form Emails and also creating graphical content. Okay, we are going to be doing quotes and posts and stuff. You can use tools like Canva where you really take the essence of, you know, an entire article or an entire concept and make and simplify it into an image graphic as a quote. That also requires skill. Sometimes less is more and less is tougher to create then you know, because it's easy to just ramble and go on and on. So that's the fourth hack is to create. The fifth hack, if you want to become a good communicator, is connect. Connect with people, listen to people, have conversations with people. You know, you'll get different. You'll start to improve your vocabulary by speaking to people outside your network, outside your domain of expertise. You know, if people come into the coaching world, the digital coaching world, the vocabulary we use, funnels, we use, you know, opt in, rate, show up, rate, CPL Roas, ads, you know, we use all. This is the common vocabulary in this world. You should go completely out of this world to a totally different world. Go into a sporting world, let's say go and connect with cricketers or connect with hockey folks, connect with gymnasts and understand the vocabulary in that. So when you connect with people from outside your domain, that will help you also understand, you know, it will help you improve your vocabulary on other things and you can start to bring that back into your domain. One way I like to connect is also through comments. Now if you, if you're listening to this podcast on my blog, I would highly recommend that you share your comments below. And if you actually notice all my blog comments, I'll, I also read them and I respond to them. So I've been able to improve my communication with my audience through conversations, through connection, replying to emails, replying on social media posts. Many people don't under, don't think about this as also a way to improve communication. Communication is a two way process. True effective communication is a conversation, it is not a performance. Like my mentor Blair Singer says, it's not a performance, it is a conversation. If you want to really communicate at a very deep level, then we have point number six. The sixth hack is analyze, you know, analyze content patterns, analyze topic patterns, analyze frequency, analyze platforms to see what kind of content works better in which kind of platforms and then start to do more of that and that's going to help you improve your communication. Some of the biggest creators and influencers today on YouTube, on, on Instagram and others, they understand how that medium works and they do more of what the medium is asking them to do so. Step number six is analyze yourself, analyze your the way you communicate, analyze platforms, analyze your content, analyze the topics, and also analyze the frequency. Like how often do you need to post? How often do you need to communicate your ideas in whichever media that you are communicating. And finally, number seven, if you want to really build an effective communication skills for yourself, the seventh hack is by building trust, by communicating in a way where you're authentic, you're presenting information with a strong logic, and you have empathy, you care for people, and you're able to really connect with people based on what their needs are. Okay, so I just want to like close this podcast by giving you like five actionables. Okay, so number one is I want you to pick a topic that you want to really learn. Second is I want you to assimilate the topic and put that into mind maps and stuff. Number three is I want you to write something about it. Like, even if it's a scrapbook of some bullet points of whatever you want to convey, and once you've written it down, then share it in the form of a short video or a long video. And then I would like you to practice this for the next, you know, three months. Give yourself like a 90 day challenge. Okay, so 90 days, 90 pieces of content. Go one reel a day or go one post a day. And then if people are engaging on your posts, reply back to their posts. You know, connect with them, comment below their posts. And if you are able to connect with like 10, 20 people per day for the next 30 days, I mean, you, even if you have three to 400 new touch points every single day, you'll start to get amazing at communication and you'll start to build a rapper with people like, like never before. So these are my hacks on how to become a better communicator. I hope you found this podcast useful. If you want to share this with somebody else, please do that.
