Siddharth Rajsekar argues you don't need formal courses to learn. He walks through 10 sources of lessons: nature, your own mistakes, other people's failures, children, colleagues, public places, challengers, videos, podcasts, and blogs. The key is documenting what you find and actually using it.

It's not about learning, only from courses or videos. You know, you can actually pick up lessons from anywhere and everywhere. In fact, in this podcast, I'm going to be sharing with you 10 different places where you can find lessons and learn from. Let's get in.
So my son and I were on the way to the airport to catch our flight. And halfway through the airport, I realized that I forgot his ID proof. If I turn back, I would miss the flight. If I go forward, I'm not sure if he could make the flight. So I told the driver to just pull over and I needed to take a printout of his ID card. Within a few minutes, I found a print shop, went there, logged into my email id, took the printout, came back. And the interesting thing is, from the time I took the printout, for the next 20 minutes, as we reached the airport, I saw at least 10 other print shops. I reached the airport, we made the flight. But the point is this, if I had taken his ID proof at the start of the journey, getting into the car, I would not have seen those 10 to 15 different print shops. I saw that because I had activated the reticular activation system, meaning because I was focused on a print shop, I saw more of it. Now, this analogy I give to my students, when it comes to the importance of goal setting, when you know what you really want, you will start to see those opportunities right in front of your eyes. Now, this lesson.
I learned by experiencing it and then connecting the dots and sharing this as an analogy and sharing this with my students. Now, just like how I went through an experience like this, I'm sure you have gone through so many experiences in your life and different situations, just that you have not decoded the essence of that. So in this podcast, I want to let all of you know that you don't need just to go through courses and videos to be successful. You can pull lessons and draw lessons from anywhere and everywhere for you to truly create an impact in your own life and to make a difference to others. So I want to share with you the 10 different places from where you can draw lessons out of. Okay, so the first place is out of nature. Like, if you just observe nature, go into a park or just sit in a beach, or go to some lake or go to some mountain, just sit there for a long period of time, or even if not long, even if it's for a few days, you would be able to draw so many lessons from nature itself. In fact, some of the greatest inventions in today's world, they are all derived from nature. You know, the helicopter is nothing but an adaptation of the, the Dragonfly. And like this you can see so many examples. You know, how ships are created, how airplanes are made, how bridges and buildings are built. They're all adaptations of inventors or adaptations by inventors who observed nature and who modeled nature. So they got their lessons from nature and they integrated that and they created something new, which is many of us take it for granted, you know. Now the second area where you can draw lessons from are from your own mistakes. Look at your own life from the time that you're born till today. You can make a whole list of mistakes and there are some mistakes that you keep repeating again and again and again. So see if you can break that pattern. And it's better to be a one mistake learner. But if you are able to pull out the brilliance of the mistakes that you have made, be able to better improve and you can get a lesson from that. The smarter thing to do is to learn from other people's mistakes. This is number three, the third place where you can pull lessons out of are from other people's mistakes.
Yeah, there are some super successful business owners. They've made some catastrophic decisions, I mean decisions, and their business started to go down. So study those things or analyze those things. You see the news. There's so many things going on. See if you can pull out patterns and just document those ideas. Okay, something went down. Okay, what mistake did they do? So then that becomes a new learning for you. Another, the fourth area where you can get lessons from are from your own children. You know, children today are more evolved than you can ever think of because they're born to technology and they know so much more than many of us. So this whole concept of reverse mentoring is something that I'm really, you know, happy about. And my son has a podcast also to called Connect the Dots with Rishabh and Vanita. You can just search for it on Apple, Spotify. It's called Connect the Dots with Rishabh. R I, S H A B H and Vanita go check it out. And that's what I'm making my children do. I'm wanting them to teach me. I listen to his podcast to learn from his perspective and they launch around three episodes every single week. So you can learn lessons from your own kids. Don't think that just because you're an adult you are, you know, you know everything. No, some of some of the children and our next generation, I'm talking about Gen Z, they are more aware and they're more, you know, in tune with the world as compared to many of the baby boomers, many of the Gen Y millennials and so on. Okay, now the fifth area where you can learn from are from your colleagues, like people in your own peer network. So if you're an expert in a particular field, you can look at other people who are in the similar space. And I'm using the word colleagues, not competitors, because ultimately there's nothing like competition. So see what they're doing, how they, how are they improving, how you can, you know, take the best practices from their side and then implement it into your side. So that's number five. Number six is you can learn from public places. Like I'm talking about, you know, you're driving the car, you walk into malls, you get on a flight, you open a magazine, you can learn so much. Like I was just on, on an Indigo flight and I opened up their, their magazine that was kept in the front and I was just looking at, you know, some of their marketing material. It was kick ass, like how they're, you know, selling offers and how they structured the headline, the sub headline and how have they given the, you know, the special offer for the, for people to scan the QR code and get. I, I got some superb ide on how I can design my next workbook for my event and stuff like that, you know, so you can pick up lessons. You don't have to attend a course again, you don't have to watch a YouTube video, listen to a podcast to get lessons. Yes, I'm giving you some structure over here, but you can learn. You can pull lessons out of anywhere and especially public places. If you're a marketer, you want to grow your business, you can get a lot of ideas from, you know, by just traveling and looking around, looking at billboards, walking into malls because, you know, these big brands that are in malls and the big brands that spend on billboards, they're spending lakhs and crores. Okay? All you have to do is just be receptive to understanding how are they doing it. In one sense, you have free access to lacks and crores of research done right in front of your eyes in the form of marketing messages. Just that you need to be smart enough to decode it and not just be a, you know, a consumer of that ad, but be an analyzer of these ads, be an analyzer of the messaging. That's what I mean by, you know, getting lessons from public places.
Number six, we spoke about nature. One own mistakes, two others mistakes three Children, four, colleagues, five public places. Six. Number seven, you can pull lessons out from disguised angels in your life. Okay? Disguised angels are those people who come into your life just to trigger you and to induce some pain in your life so that you can level up your game and move to the next level. There could be some naysayers, some people who put you down, who feel that, who don't resonate with what you're doing and they make your life tough, basically. Okay, so these people are required and you can pull lessons out of them on how you can level up your game. And then finally, the last three know, 8, 9 and 10 are you can pull out lessons from courses. Okay, if you're not a part of my community, go to SIDS Co join and join my community. We have over 26,000 people as I'm recording this podcast at this point. Learn from videos. I'm talking about YouTube videos. You can learn from podcasts. That is, I would. I'll combine videos and podcasts as one. That's number nine now, which is a combination of audio and video. And of course, you can learn a lot, even from blogs. You can go to a platform like medium.comm e- dash-I u m.com and just search for whatever topic interests you. And it's a very premium network of, you know, high quality written articles and written content. You can find some really good articles and some excellent writers over there. Like, I like to just go spend, you know, a few minutes, maybe 20, 30, 40 minutes in a week, just go skim through and pick up some ideas from there on headlines, on hooks, on copywriting style, on engaging on, you know, direct response format of blog writing. So you can pull out lessons from anywhere. If I include podcasting into this, that will be 11 lessons that you can pull out from nature, own mistakes, other people's mistakes, from children, from colleagues, from public places, from disguise angels, from courses, videos, podcasts and blogs. I hope you found this podcast useful. The only value of this podcast is if you can integrate all of these lessons and, you know, create, put that into an action plan, meaning now that you have the list of 11, create an action plan on how you can start to document your ideas on a daily basis based on whichever media you're getting the lessons from.
