29 Jul 2022 · 4 min
Siddharth Rajsekar traces how thoughts become destiny through a chain: thought to action to habit to character. Your inputs matter most. What you read, watch, and who you're around shapes your thoughts, which drive your actions. He suggests listening to Earl Nightingale's "Strangest Secret in the World" for 30 days to shift behavior.

I thought I'll do another short episode podcast today, and this is more about thoughts and how thoughts can actually become things. One of my favorite quotes back in the day is by Emerson where he says, you sow a thought, you reap an action. You sow an action, you reap a habit, you sow a habit, you reap a character, you sow a character and you reap your destiny. So it all begins with a thought. So I would like you to think about this today and also share your thoughts below on what do you think about this? Like, let's look at each of these different elements. You sow a thought. Where do these thoughts really come from? Thoughts are influenced by videos we watch, courses we consume, podcasts that we listen to, books that we read. Society, religion, community are so many different aspects, right, that influence the way that we think. So don't you think we should really be aware of who we are giving our mind space to? Don't you think we should be aware on who we allow to enter our intellectual zone? Because these thoughts.
Can change our destiny. Right, let's go look at the second part. You know, you sow a thought, you reap an action. Actions. You know, we take actions influenced by thoughts, right? So the actions could be.
Driven.
By emotions such as to gain more pleasure or to stay away from pain. Like if you look at anything, any. The two most prominent human emotions are desire and fear. We take actions either to overcome the pain, overcome fear, or to pursue desire to get something more desirable. And these thoughts that go into our mind actually influence us.
In different scenarios. Like, for example, if somebody is watching the whole, watching the news all day long, so much of fear is pumped into the head, they're going to be so skeptical on every small thing, and they will actually not take action because they don't want to, you know, experience pain. It puts people in a state of limbo, as they say it, right? So this inaction state also is created by thoughts. So you sow a thought, you reap an action. You sow an action, you reap a habit. So what actions you are taking or not taking on a repeated basis, on a daily basis ends up becoming into a habit. And usually habits are formed over a span of many days. And I think there's some research that says 21 days, you do something and it becomes a habit. Like, for example, this podcast, I'm on day number 51, and it's become into a habit. And I'm just trying a different format right now, not my regular format. I'm just Going free flowing in this just to see if I can connect on a deeper level and keep it even shorter and if I'm able to add value to you within, you know, five minutes.
So habits are formed through repetitive actions or even repetitive inactions.
You reap a habit. I mean, you sow a habit, you reap a character. You know, your character actually gets formed based on the habits that you have. And that's why even in my community, what I do is I tell people listen to Strangest Secret in the World every single day for the next 30 days. So what I'm trying to do is not really tell people about my courses and content. My focus is not just about giving them knowledge on the subject matter, but my focus on changing behavior. It's not about giving information, it's about changing behavior. Because if I can change somebody's behavior, if I can change the patterns, then I can install all the right programs into their head. For example, if you, if you have a hard disk that is, you know, with all kinds of junk and it's corrupted when it has a lot of viruses, you got to first device the hard disk, you got to device the system before you can install any new programs. And that's why as an educator, if you're a knowledge giver, you need to first think about what can you do to change people's habits and behaviors before you can install the content into their head. That's why for me, you know, Stranger Secret in the World is one of those habits that change the character because character gets remolded when you are.
Continuing to, you know, do a particular thing for a long period of time, and it sets into your system.
And then.
As you are living the new reality, your character gets redefined. For example, what I was two years or three years or four years back, I'm a very different person right now because my thoughts changed. Those. Those thoughts led to different actions, those actions led to different habits. So that those habits has changed my character. And I can clearly see how my destiny has changed. I was just a geeky sound engineer, you know, tapping behind my laptop, making music. And today I'm doing something totally different. And some of my old friends are still doing the same old things because their thoughts did not change. Their actions were the same, their habits were the same, their character remained the same, and the destiny is the same. I hope this podcast has given you a totally different perspective on that one quote. So what I would like you to do is, if you're listening to this podcast on my blog, siddharthrajekar.com I would like you to share in the comment box. What are you going to do to change your destiny? Give me at least five or ten different ideas on how you plan to change your destiny. I would like to read your comments. This is not a podcast where I would like you to take notes and share what you learned from me. I want to learn from you on what you want, what you plan to do to change your destiny. You can also share in the comments. What are your current patterns? What is your current character that is not allowing you to reach the destination that you desire? So once again I want to sum up with the same quote. You sow a thought, you reap an action. You sow an action, you reap a habit. You sow a habit, you reap your character and you sow your character and character reaps your destiny. I'll catch you in the next episode. Cheers. God bless and.
