How To Create A Certification Program In Your Community?
27 Apr 2023 · 0 min
Podcast episode (Freedom Business podcast) by Siddharth Rajsekar explaining how community-run certification programs motivate action and track progress. He outlines a simple framework with three certification levels — task-based (completion), result-based (measurable outcomes), and superstar awards (major milestones) — and describes an alternative point-based system for membership tiers; also covers verification and using certifications to identify and empower community leaders.
The best way to get people to take action is to have some kind of a certification within your own community. In this podcast, I'm going to be answering the question on how to create a certification program in your community that inspires them to take action. Let's get in.
Hey there, Sid here. Welcome to yet another episode of the Freedom Business podcast. And if you'd like to know more about this, and if you're not yet subscribed to this, please make sure that you subscribe on Apple and Spotify for more episodes. So let's talk about gamification here and certification more specific to community building and inspiring people to take action. See if you see the day and age that we're in right now, where there's ChatGPT, there's Google, there's YouTube, there are so many different channels where people can actually go and get information. The most important part of today's day and age is that people don't lack information. They have so much of information. And in fact it is information overload. And what people lack is focused implementation, implementation and mentorship. And when it comes to mentorship, it's about, you know, systematic learning and systematic implementation. That's what people lack. So for that to happen, there has to be some kind of a certification. And this certification is not like, you know, a university certification where you take the certificate to go get a job or something like that. Like, even if you're running a community that is brand new, you can give a certificate just from your side, you know, just a certificate of completion where you do your own evaluation and criteria based on, you know, what are the different milestones that your students are going to be completing. So how do you create a certification program in your community? The way that I have done it is what I want to share with you right now. I keep it really simple. There needs to be three levels of certification. The first level of certification is more of an action based certification or a task based certification. Let's say you design a 30 day challenge, or a 60 day challenge, or a 90 day challenge. And if people complete all the tasks that you're giving them during that time frame, then you can give them the first level certification which is more of a completion of the task. And these tasks completion can be also evaluated. For example, in my community we have something called the Freedom Finisher award. It takes 90 days to complete and there's a 10 point checklist that they need to complete. They have to finish some assignments, they need to get clear on their product, they need to launch their Course, they need to launch their website. So that checklist of items that needs to be completed needs to be defined first. And the duration of the challenge also needs to be defined, whether it's 30, 60 or 90 days. And then you launch this challenge. The second level of certification is more of a certification where you can give an award to somebody who's achieved a result. The first certification is a task based, the second one is a result based. So if you're teaching, you know, weight loss, then if they lose so many number of kilos of weight within a particular time, then you can reward them for that, that becomes a certification. The if you're teaching business coaching, if they implement these things in different business and if they're able to get a business result in terms of profitability revenues, then you give them a certification. And in my case, if anyone makes over 3 lakh rupees in revenue, I give them something called the hall of Fame award. And this is not like a typical certification, but I actually give them a physical award on stage when they attend my live event and my program. And besides that they also get spotlighted in front of hundreds of members in the community in our hall of Fame spotlights. So the second form of certification is more to do with a result based certification and the third one is a superstar. So I give an award called the 1 crore champion award. And of course I have a 10 crore champion award also. So the 1 crore 10 crore champion awards is the ultimate certification to show that somebody has crossed tangible milestones in their knowledge business. Now besides this, I also have my diamond certification. So these three certifications are more to do with the milestones in terms of actions and achievements. But in my membership, if you look at membership based certifications, I have a diamond certification where currently we have set a rule where if anyone attends any of those calls, they get points. If they achieve any of these milestones, they get points. And we have a point system based evaluation criteria where if Somebody scores over 10,000 points over a span of a year or within a span of a year, they get certified as a Diamond Club member and we've extended the certification to three years. So if they score 30,000 points over a span of three years, which also includes attendance points and achievement points, they they get a master certificate. So certification can be in two parts. One is like the three step approach where I shared with you which is a task based, result based and superstar based. And another one you can have a certification which is point based. So if they score so many number of points.
Within a particular time of time frame that is there, then they can be certified. So certifications like these does not need any accreditation or connection with any university or anything like that. You just give the certificate from your side and like how I do it from my side. And I have an internal evaluation process. So if somebody has to apply for a 1 crore champion award, I have, my teams will actually evaluate. They get on a zoom call, they check their bank accounts, they check their payment gateways, and only if everything is clear, only then the award is given. And we also do a double check whether they have followed our system and they have implemented exactly what we have taught, not just because they made some money through other means. And then they just want to get the award on stage just for visibility. So we check those things when before we're giving the award. So coming back to the main point is certifications are, you know, very powerful to inspire people to move forward, to make progress and to take action. And certifications also is a, it's a merit based system that allows you to also look at which of your students are performing well, to give them the spotlight. And if they have achieved specific certifications, you can empower them to again lead the tribe, to facilitate calls and stuff like that. So I also choose many of our facilitators in our community based on if they have done the diamond certification, if they have been committed to the process, if they've been attending all the calls and if they've achieved results. So that way it becomes an easier criteria for me to empower the second line leaders in a community building format. So overall this is the way on how to create certification program in your community based on your topic, you can tweak things around. So if you want to do like a three, three month certification or a 30 day certification, or 90 day or a one year certification, you can define various parameters to ensure the certification is rolled out. But keep in mind that if you want to truly get the best result of your students.
They need to see the end goal certification. If it is designed purely based on just the information or consumption like in the formal education system, the more you can mug and vomit in an exam, then you get certified. But in additional coaching process, your whole certification should be around their skills building part and their results getting part and of course the checklist of, you know, what actions that they need to take towards the end goal. So the end goal has to be defined and then you set the milestones before that. And then for each milestone you assign a kind of a certification, you know, that can be evaluated also by your teams. So I hope this has given you some clarity. If you're not yet a part of our community and if you'd like to experience this, please go to sidzsids co join. You can join our community. Or if you'd like to know more about how I do this in a free webinar, you can go to sidz co sids co live attend my next webinar. And if you're already a part of my community, I would highly recommend that you upgrade your membership to diamond membership. Because in our diamond membership you'll be learning some advanced, you know, systems on how I gamify. Because that is where I've actually implemented the entire certification process where I give a Diamond membership Diamond Club certification to our members across 10,000 points within within a year's time. So to see that in action, you got to be in a Diamond membership to really make this happen. Cheers. God bless. I'll catch you in the next episode.
