Podcast episode by Siddharth Rajsekar (Freedom Business podcast) addressing how to overcome the fear of sales when selling digital products. The host shares his journey from being an introvert to selling millions, locates the root of sales fear in childhood-driven fear of rejection, and reframes selling as a service — a transfer of emotion and energy. Practical advice includes detaching personal identity from offers, strengthening conviction in the product, establishing proof of concept (pain → solution → offer), practicing selling to build confidence, and using community/mentorship (Diamond membership/webinar) as accelerants.

How to get over the fear of sales. That's a question I want to be answering in this particular podcast. After selling over five plus million dollars in digital products, in spite of being an introvert. Let's get in. Hey there, Siddharth Rawshek here. Thank you for tuning into yet another episode of the Freedom Business podcast. And if you have not subscribed to this podcast, please do that on Apple and Spotify to get more of this awesome content. So this topic is going to be more about how to overcome the fear of sales. Because selling is a totally different ball game when it comes to the knowledge business, and especially me. My background, I've been a super duper introvert. I've just been a sound engineer. Never knew that I could sell like the way that I've been selling digital products in the last four years. All thanks to understanding that selling is actually a form of service. Selling is a transfer of emotion. Selling is a transfer of energy. Selling is also. It has to do with if you can sell something to yourself and if you believe in something, only then you can transfer that belief to somebody else. And selling is nothing but a value exchange that is happening. So if you don't have anything valuable to give others, or if you don't believe in what we are offering to others, then you're not going to be good at sales. So for me to overcome this big challenge of fear of sales, I had to face the fear on the face and, you know, go through the different stages of, you know, building that thick skin in terms of selling without worrying too much of whether people are going to be rejecting my offer or not. So let's first understand where does this fear come from and what is this fear? It all comes down to fear of being judged, fear of rejection, fear of people saying no. And because we are, most of us, we are brought up in a schooling system or our education system is more about not failing, okay, or being perfect or being on the good side. And failure is a taboo. That is why most people, they fear getting into selling because they don't want to be rejected. So the rejection or the fear of rejection comes from school days because we do not want to be rejected in front of our teacher's eyes or we don't want to be rejected in our family also. So we have to fit into it so that we don't get left out of the pack. So this is a very deep core human DNA, which is probably one of the biggest reasons why most people, you know, get. They go crazy, okay? They're not Able to really.
Be in their zone of highest impact. So the root cause of most of these fears come from our childhood and the feeling of being accepted in society. And rejection is the opposite of that. Now how do you overcome this fear? First, you got to understand that when it comes to sales, people are not rejecting you as a person. They. They're only rejecting the offer that you're giving them. So first step is you got to detach yourself from the product. Okay? Even though you may believe in your product and you know that the product can help them and whatever, but still you have to detach yourself from the product because then people are not rejecting you, they're only rejecting the product or the offer and they're not ready for it at that point of time. Okay? So you should be okay with people saying no, because it's not saying no to you as a person. That's the first part. And the second thing you need to look at when it comes to sales is if you are afraid of selling, it means that you may not believe in yourself or you may not believe in your product. Like even in webinars. There are many of my students, some of them, not many, but some of them come and tell me that, sir, I've tried many webinars and webinars have not really worked for me and I'm not able to get enough sales. And the same would apply even in a one to one selling. There are some people who are not very good at one to one selling. Some people are not good at one to many selling. But the point I come back to is I say, I tell them that have you worked on yourself?
Meaning do you have the conviction within yourself that what you're delivering to your audience is going to make a difference in their lives? Because even at a very subconscious level, if you don't believe in yourself or the product that you're selling, then you're not going to be converting. So conversion happens when there is a transfer of emotion and energy where the other person is able to perceive at a very subconscious and a conscious level that what you're offering them is going to make a difference to their life. If, if they're not able to get it emotionally, they're not going to make the decision. Because buying is an emotional decision. It is not a rational decision. We rationalize it only after we have purchased the product. But the whole process of buying something is very emotional. Think about anything that you bought, whether you bought a camera or you bought a latest iPhone, or you bought a car or whatever, it's an emotional decision. So when you're able to understand that selling is, you know, it's a transfer of emotions, then the whole game changes. So then you will start looking at sales as a way on how you can share your emotion of what you feel about your product and service. And the more you do it and the more you start to see that other people are benefiting from your product or service, okay. Then selling will become a form of service itself. Like for me right now, when I'm selling my product, when I'm selling my silver membership or gold membership or my diamond membership in my community, I know that anyone who's going to make that decision and buy that particular membership, their life is going to change, provided they're able to completely implement whatever I'm teaching them. Okay? And hundreds and thousands of lives have been changed over the years because of the person surrendering to the process and taking action on what is being taught. Okay? And for me to sell that idea to them in the first place, I had to establish proof of concept. I had to reveal what pains that people go through, and then I had to reveal the solution and the path, and then I give them the offer. Okay? So when you are able to establish proof of concept, tell them what are the pain points and what's the solution and then give them the offer, then there is always going to be a point where they will decide to buy your product. So in other words, to overcome fear of sales is to first face this head on and start selling more by detaching yourself from the product and by definitely working on your mindset and working on your product and ensuring that your product or service is able to deliver a result for whoever is buying that. So when all of these checkpoints, and the more you do it and the more you practice and once you go through these checkpoints, you will be able to sell with more confidence. You'll be able to overcome those fears. You'll be able to better communicate your idea. You'll be able to sell with emotion, whether it's a transfer of your emotion to the other person and where the other person feel will definitely believe in what you're offering them and they will make that decision to buy. So the conversion happens at a very emotional level, not at a logical level. So with that being said, I want you to share in the comment box below.
