Siddharth Rajsekar argues that exhaustion comes from tolerating draining situations and people, not from doing too much. When you raise your standards and set clearer boundaries, discipline becomes easier and energy returns. The question to ask yourself: what are you tolerating that no longer matches who you are?

I want to talk to you about something subtle. Most exhaustion isn't from doing too much. It's from tolerating too much. Tolerating conversations that drain you, Tolerating situations that you've outgrown. Tolerating versions of yourself that you no longer respect. Your energy leaks. Not because you're weak, because your standards are unclear. You know, discipline is effort, and I've seen this for myself. Standards are identity. But when your standards are clear, your discipline becomes unnecessary. You don't have to force yourself. You simply don't negotiate with what doesn't align. Your standards decide how you spend your time, who gets access to you, what you say yes to, and what you walk away from quietly if it's not aligned. You know what? Life gets lighter when fewer things are up for debate. And I want to be honest with you. Raising your standards isn't dramatic. It is quiet. It looks like fewer explanations, fewer justifications, and fewer emotional negotiations. It's choosing peace over trying to prove a point. You know, when I raised my standards in some areas of my life, my calendar simplified, my mind settled, my energy returned. Not because I did more, but because I tolerated less. So just want to tell you this, that raising standards feels uncomfortable. Because you disappoint people who benefited from your flexibility. Because you outgrow roles that once defined you and you stop over giving to earn belonging. And according to me, this isn't arrogance. It is self respect that's catching up. You're not being rigid, you're being intentional now. And that is a beautiful space to be in. So I want to leave you with this one question. Not to answer today, but just to sit with the question is this. What am I currently tolerating that no longer matches who I am? As your standards rise, your life will reorganize itself. Fewer things, better days, calmer days. And this isn't about being in control. It's not even about control. It's just about alignment. And alignment always brings peace.
