Siddharth Rajsekar argues that responsibility comes before power. Start small: make your bed, take responsibility for your choices, then expand to family and community. Each level of responsibility you master earns you greater influence and capacity.

We've all heard this famous quote from Spider man that says, with great power comes great responsibility. But my take on this is with great responsibility comes great power. To have great power, you got to be responsible first. Let's get in. I'm sure the first time you heard this quote was in a Spider man movie, or even quoting it back to Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, who speaks about this concept that with great power comes great responsibility. Now, my take on this is that it's actually the opposite, because when you are responsible, that's when you'll be given more power to do things. Like if you remember in school days, those of you who have been in the good books of the teachers, you've been good prefects in your school, or you have really, you know, showed your commitment towards your academics, then you are given the powers to do different things. If you remember the school captain in your school, he was not just randomly chosen like that. It is because he or she, whoever was the school captain, happened during your school days, demonstrated responsibility in their younger days or in their academics or in their extracurricular or everything else. Only then they were given the power. So school captains, cricket team. If you look at Ms. Dhoni, he was not given the power of captaincy just randomly because he demonstrated responsibility in his own career, in his own performance for many, many, many years, he was given the power to then lead the team. So this is the same concept even in life. A lot of us think that in order to have a lot of power, we need to do a lot of things. But it all starts with the basics of being responsible. And I want to just break it down into what are the areas of responsibility that we need to be aware of and work on. If you have to really attract that lifestyle of power and power here is not the negative power which you're going to be misusing, but it is more about a sense of control and abundance in your life that you would never even thought would be possible. So let's get in and let's break down the different areas of responsibility. It all starts by making your own bed. If you remember in your school days, your parents might have told you, make the bed, make your bed, you know, put your things in its place, keep your room clean. All of this stuff is something that we've been growing up with. And there have been moments where some of us used to keep our rooms like a junkyard. And I remember my rooms, my room used to get a junkyard from time to time. And then of course, I used to clean it up myself. But I think the first step to response ability, if you break the word, is your ability to respond to a situation. So it starts by how can you do the most basic things in your own life without you having to depend on others? Where you, your ability to respond is, is at the highest level, making your bed, cleaning your own stuff, making sure that whatever are your basic needs are met and you don't have to depend on others for too many things. So this is an aspect of responsibility in your personal life and personal things that are around you. Now let's look at personal decisions. This is like one level above. Are you responsible for your decisions or are you somebody who feels that, okay, whatever happens, this happens, it's okay, and you don't take responsibility of your decisions or responsibility of your actions. These have a direct implication in your life, in your personal life, in your career, in your business. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who take full responsibility of their actions and decisions without blaming others or complaining others or just, you know, passing the buck onto others. So let's look at which areas you need to take responsibility when it comes to your actions and connecting into a digital business. Number one is, I've heard this is a, you know, beautiful quote that you can have many, many coaches, trainers, mentors, you can go through many courses, videos, YouTube videos, podcasts like this. You can learn as much as you want. But ultimately you have to take action and take responsibility of the knowledge that you have with you. So the first thing is taking responsibility of the knowledge that you receive, the ability to respond to the knowledge that you receive. That's what is responsibility of your knowledge. That's the first aspect. Now the second aspect is the responsibility of your actions. How are you going to act based on the knowledge that you have just received? There's going to be one category of person who listened to this, listens to this podcast. They'll be like, okay, whatever, and I'll get back to life. And they have another category of person who listens to this podcast and is like, yes, I need to do a mental audit and I need to really be the person who I need to be in order for me to attract the lifestyle that I want. See, there was a long time during my initial days in the carrier where I was depending on others. I did not take personal responsibility of my life and my financial situation. And my financial situation was not very good. And I was blaming others, complaining others, and, you know, pointing fingers at other things where the actual reason why I was not growing in my life and my business was because of my own actions and my own thoughts and my own beliefs. And the day that I took personal responsibility, where I healed the past and I healed all those people who I felt were enemies in my life, they were actually disguised angels who were helping me on my journey and helping me progress towards my goals. So when I blessed them and when I took responsibility and put the hat back on myself and took charge, that's when things started to change. So the first level is responsibility in terms of the knowledge, ability to respond to knowledge. The second is responsibility in terms of actions. What actions are you going to be taking? And these actions are more to do with your own personal actions and for your personal life. Now we have the next level of responsibility. Responsibility to our family. Now many of us, we may be so busy with what we are doing in our business, in our life, and sometimes we neglect our family. We neglect the quality time that we need to give our kids, especially when they're growing up. Now that is also a responsibility. Having children you know intimately, connecting with your spouse and having a deep and intimate relationship or on a deep level of friendship with your spouse or your partner. This is also an ability to respond. It's a responsibility in not your own actions, but responsibility in your family and relationships. A lot of people who struggle in business, they don't realize that it is not a business problem. It is a personal problem that's showing up in their business. We normally don't have business problems. We have personal problems that show up in business. So please understand that. Responsibility in relationships, relationship with yourself. Starting with that relationship with your family members, your near and dear ones and relationships with your friends circle. How are you keeping that relationship? All of these factors also determine how high you're going to be growing. Now there could be some people in your life who are not aligned with your goals and visions. It's not that you have to be a people pleaser and say yes to whatever they say. But if you feel that there are some people are not aligned with your visions and goals, you don't have to be in their purview. They don't need to be in your aura, in your energy. They can be wherever they are. You just bless them and let them be where they are. You don't have to really mix two chemicals to create a reaction. You can keep them far away. You know what I'm talking about. So responsibility in relationships is also awareness in terms of where you know your relationships are with yourself and others around you. And how far or near to keep people based on your goals and visions. And then we have another level of responsibility, responsibility towards society, responsibility towards our community. If you see a piece of paper in the airport, fallen on the ground, are you going to take it, pick it up and put it in the bin or are you just going to walk past it? You may be thinking, oh, it is just after all, another just a small piece of paper. So what? Somebody will come and clean it. Now that is also your ability to respond to a small thing. Let's say it's 11:30pm in the night, you're driving in your car and you come to a signal light where the signal light says stop and it is in red. Now what are you going to do? There's nobody on the road, there's nobody watching. Are you going to just cut that signal and go or I just going to stay there and follow the rules and respond to the laws irrespective of whether it is late in the night or early in the morning. Now that is a question that everyone needs to ask themselves. That's the question that you got to ask yourself is, are you being responsible when nobody's watching? That is a true test of responsibility. So responsibility to society is this part is where you can uphold the values on which you're living your life, whether somebody is watching you or not. Because if all of us do this, follow the rules and regulations of the land, we also follow pay our taxes on time, we are living our life with the highest values and ethics and morals that is going to be contributing to the greater good of society. If we are aligned in that way, that is your direct response and contribution to the growth of society by large. You know, Gandhi says, right, be the change you want to see in the world. You cannot change others, but you can change yourself. And the best way to change yourself is to be in an environment that propagates this change, to be in an environment that supports this change. In fact, my mentor, Blair Singer, he also says that you can't change people, but if you change their environment, they will change. So by helping people create their own code of honors, so let's say you're building a community of your own and you're going to be helping people craft their own value system and their codes of honor. And when a situation arises in their life, they will go back to identifying what their values are and that will help them respond in the best possible way. So we have responsibility in terms of knowledge, responsibility in terms of personal actions, responsibility in terms of personal relationships around us, our near and dear ones and our responsibility towards society. And of course at a universal level, a responsibility towards mankind as a whole and towards our Creator. Whichever path or religion or process that you follow, we have the Supreme Being, the Supreme Creator who controls multi universes. And how are we being responsible to our Creator? How are we responding to our Creator? Do we have the ability to respond to our Creator's signals?
Now that is a question you got to ask yourself. Do you have any kind of spiritual grounding inclination? Because only when you have responsibility in all these different areas, you will be given the power to do great things. You want to build large communities. You want to impact a million lives. You want to inspire 100,000 people achieve their goals. You have created your own mission and vision statements. You want those to come true. It all goes back to you making your bed every morning. You eating on time. You're eating healthy. You're taking care of your body. You're taking care of your relationships. You're taking care of the soul that is inside you. You taking care of every single thing that is going to help you move towards your goals. I hope you found this podcast useful.
