Okay, so what is the Daily Biz Growl? Who am I and why should you care? I'll answer all three of these questions on my very first episode of the Daily Biz Growl. Well, hello there. Hello there, everyone. My name is Brent Kelly. I am the CEO of Biz Grizzly and ecstatic, excited, pumped up, whatever word you want to give to be kicking off this Daily Biz Growl podcast. So let me just start by giving some background. I know there are some people who may be listening to this or other podcasts I'm doing and have either followed me or known me for a period of time. And there may be others who have absolutely no idea who I am and. And what I'm doing. So again, my name is Brent Kelly. I am the founder, the CEO of Biz Grizz and that we focus at Biz Griz on growth, development, communication, relationship building and influence for insurance leaders and insurance producers. So why am I so passionate about helping insurance producers and insurance leaders? Well, because I spent 15 years of my career as an active insurance agent for two agencies in the Midwest and love the insurance profession, love the insurance business, love the people in the insurance business, love serving customers and clients and company partners in the insurance business. But what I realized about myself and how I could best add value to others is by doing what I'm doing today. My true calling, my true passion is helping others reach their potential. And it's been an ongoing process for me to really discover this and own it and understand it. But over the last couple years, in starting Biz Grizz, I do training, I do teaching, I do private coaching, I do group coaching. I also do workshops for insurance agencies and have really been able to see others see more in themselves and see agents and agencies grow and change and develop and evolve and become more of who they desire to be. Now, I'll be open and honest that my style, my approach is not for everyone, right. And I've got to understand that. And I'm cool with that. You know, I. And I'll talk a lot about this in the. In the Daily Biz growls that I do and you'll kind of get to know my content. But I really believe that growth and development potential occurs from the inside. And for a long time I thought that was kind of woo. Woo y. That's the word I'll use, you know, inside. Because I do believe and I've trained and I still do and teach on, you know, certain processes and systems and marketing ideas and all those things are very, very important. And you'll you'll hear me mention those things throughout in my daily biz growl. But I also really firmly believe that significant change comes from within. Right. Real fundamental, long term change in processes come from within. So just to give you a little background, when I started doing some teaching and training, I was an active insurance agent. This was in 2011, about five years ago, or six, I guess five years ago, almost six years ago now, now that we're in 2017. And I started doing some things on the side. I started, I started a blog, I started writing. And it really, when I first started, it was really to kind of grow my own book of business, right? To get known in the industry, get to know, you know, my clients, get people to know me better, get a feel, kind of build a personal brand. And it evolved very quickly that I had a lot of insurance agents, insurance agency leaders, other agency professionals start to kind of follow and connect with me, which was, which was awesome. And over that period of time, as I started biz Grizz in 2015, I've also served some people in different industries. Banks, car dealerships, financial, you know, service type businesses. So very much related to insurance, but some other businesses as well. And I do do some work outside of the industry. But my focus and my passion really is adding value to the insurance industry because as I said earlier, I firmly love and believe in the industry and it's, you know, be very transparent. There's been many times, I mean, really over the past several years that I thought, you know, I can kind of detach myself, you know, from the insurance world. Not that I didn't like it, but because I didn't have to be fully embraced or committed to just serving that industry. And I don't know where my future will hold, but I do know right now, and in my journey to add the most value to other people, it's me focusing on the industry that I know and love the most, and that's the insurance industry. So in a nutshell, here is what I do from an overview. I work with insurance professionals to help them achieve massive results in business and personal growth. I help them build powerful relationships with those people that they serve and gain greater influence with their company partners, their clients and their community. And I mentioned earlier, I do a lot of different things. But what are you going to get on a biz growl? Why is it worth you taking time to listen? Well, I'll leave that up to you whether you, whether you listen or not. But these biz growls every day are going to be short. In fact, this is probably the longest one that I'm going to do. They're going to be around 5 minutes per day and they're based off writings that I do every day. But I've had a desire to start a podcast to do audio for several years and people that know me probably know that, like, are you going to start one or not? And I've always struggled with how I was going to do it and was I going to do interview based, was I going to do myself, was it going to be long, short? And again, understanding how I can best deliver and understanding the market is. I felt that a quick five minute daily podcast, five, five minute audio that hits something, addresses it, makes you stop, think, reflect, hopefully make some changes in your life and in your business is the best way that I can affect change. Because I don't know about you, but I admittedly after 20, 30 minutes I can lose focus. Maybe after 10 minutes I can lose focus. And I also know that I serve a lot of people that are like me, that are maybe hungry for change and growth, but they're also very busy and I'm busy as well. And for those that don't know me, to give you a little personal background, not only am I a trainer and speaker and I coach, but I'm also first and foremost, I'm a husband, I'm a father of four children. So I understand the busy lifestyle. So what will I be doing on this bizcard? And every day I'll submit Monday through Friday, releasing a new five minute podcast. On top of that, I'll also be doing ongoing programs that I'll mention throughout. So just a few things that I do just to throw out there if people want to connect with me and learn more. First of all, I'm starting this year the Insurance Producer Growth and Development program. This is for insurance producers, insurance agency and its owners as well who sell. It's all about reaching their potential and growing their book of business. I'm going to talk a lot about internal things of growth and development. To grow your book of business, you've got to grow yourself. And I'm going to help people along that process to make significant changes where people are really going to see things go, wow, I haven't thought about that way before. Why am I doing it this way? And you know, again, them being able to self reflect, to think through their situations. Yeah, I'll say this, there are a lot of insurance agency owners I work with that say, you know, I need help developing my people. Well, if you tell people what to do, all the time, right. They'll do it for a while and they'll do it for potentially their reasons or because they have to. But when you can really connect and coach with people and find their potential and have them tap into it and seek it out, that's when phenomenal change and growth occurs. And I want to help people think through their situations. I don't always want to tell people what to think. I want to help you learn how to think. And there's a significant difference in that and I've seen that in my life and I want to share that with others. In the insurance industry. I also do what I call agency growth Catalyst workshops where I come in with insurance agencies and I do a customized training as well as facilitate One of the coolest things that I've been, I've been doing the last several months, something called the Leadership Game. And the Leadership Game is part of the John Maxwell program, which I am also a certified partner with the John Maxwell team. So if you know John Maxwell and like his stuff, I have access to all the John Maxwell resources which really works well with some agencies that I'm working with. I also do my have a peak performance one on one coaching program. So I work with some clients one on one. And that's something else that I do call my peak performance coaching program. And then finally I speak. I go to events and speak. So those are some things that I do. Again, there's four main things. The insurance producer growth and development program, the agency Growth Catalyst Workshop, my one on one peak performance. And then I also speak. But let me just close with this. And again, this will probably be the longest podcast I'll do is I recently read, I mentioned John Maxwell. I read the book Intentional Living by John Maxwell. And in this book John discusses there's a real difference, a real difference between success and significance. Right? And he actually says in the book, I love this quote. He goes, once you taste significance, success will never satisfy. Isn't that powerful? And I agree with that because I want insurance leaders, I want insurance producers not just to have success. Of course I want you to have success. I want you to have significance. I talk to people, I speak with groups, and you can see it, they want more than just writing policies. There's nothing wrong with writing policies. I did it and I love it. But there's also more to it. How do you really find your true significance and grow your book of business? I mean, it's exciting stuff. So here's the credo that John mentions that I want to follow and I have been following and will use throughout this Biz Growl podcast. I want to make a difference doing something that makes a difference with people that make a difference at a time that makes a difference. And I, I truly believe that this podcast, you know, my, my heart of heart is going to be something that makes a difference for you. And I know I'm going to connect with people that I can help and serve and also maybe we can collaborate with to make a better, a bigger difference. And I, I, I fully believe that this, this is a time to make a difference. And I do. Speaking engagements, I often say, listen, the insurance industry is hungry for leaders, right? Good leaders that want positive influence and change, not just on the outside, but on the inside. Because when you make those changes in your life and in your business, it shows up, right? And you're able to help your community or help to help your clients, help your co workers, help your company partners achieve more and add more value. And that's really what I want to do. I look forward to serving insurance leaders like yourself to make a difference this year and beyond. So enjoy. I look forward to delivering this every day. And as I always will say at the end of every biz growl, I challenge and encourage you to go face your grizz.
