In today's Biz Growl, I want to ask you a couple questions. The first question is fairly common and you should be able to come up with some answers pretty quickly. However, when I add the second part to the question, if you're like most people, it'll probably make you pause, reflect, and do a little soul searching. Hello there. This is Brent Kelly of Bizgris with my daily Biz Growl 5 Minute podcast. So I mentioned there's going to be a couple questions. Let's get right to it. First of all, what are some things you really want to achieve for your business and for your life? Is it more money? Better relationships? Bigger house? Paying off some credit card debt? Taking more vacations? Giving more to your favorite charities? Or hey, let's be honest, maybe it's that fancy new sports car. So take some time and you can just think of some things that you want to accomplish in your business and your life. But now I want to ask this question with a caveat, right? So think about this for a second. Now, what are some things you really want to achieve in your business, in your life, if. If you knew you could not fail? What are things you really want to achieve in your life if you knew you could not fail? Now, I'm guessing your answer may be different if you stop and think about it. When I asked the first question, which is what are some things you really want in your life and business? To agency leaders and insurance producers, I generally get answers like, well, I want to grow my book of business X amount of. I want to add more clients, better service. You know, all those are decent answers. But when I add the second part to the question, which is if you knew you could not fail, I am often met with pause and reluctance. Why is that? Well, listing the basic things you want to do often relegates you to your comfort zone, right? I want to do this and that and whatever. We typically answer with things that we've already done, or at least we know that we can consciously achieve. But when I ask, what would you do if you could not fail? It requires you to think bigger and beyond what you view as realistic. It challenges your rational thinking. See, this was a question that was asked to me a few years ago by one of my mentors, and it continues to challenge me personally today. Now, I've learned that as humans, you and I have unlimited potential. Okay, understand this. We, as humans have unlimited potential. Yet the desire to feel safe and secure prevents us often from accomplishing things that we never thought possible. So why do so many of Us hold ourselves back from our true potential. Why do we often settle for good things instead of great things? Well, I think there's many reasons. But too often we're afraid of making mistakes going beyond our current level of awareness. If you want to improve, you've got to first admit that you don't have all the answers, right? You must be willing to do things that may make you feel a little bit silly. You must be willing not only to make mistakes, but fully embrace them as part of your journey. And here's the big one. You must also be able to think. Think beyond your current life level of awareness. See, when I ask the question, what would you do if you could not fail? Your conscious mind will try to limit your true potential. Your conscious mind only allows you to either choose to agree with or reject ideas. Your conscious mind will look at your past, your past performance as the main indicator of your future success. Now, my mentor told me something that I will never forget. I still have it written down right in front of me. And I want you all to hear this. He said, your existing results are not a representation of your true potential. They only represent your current level of awareness of your potential. I'm going to say that one more time. Your existing results are not a representation of your potential. They only represent your current level of awareness of your potential. What does this mean? Your existing results, they're not a representation of your potential. Just let that sink in for a moment because that phrase has rocked my world and I really hope it'll do the same for you. The results that you've experienced up to this point, again, they don't represent who you are or what you're going to become. Yet that's often what we use to shape our goals or dreams or aspirations. It's a cycle of producing average, mediocre results. So here's what I want to hopefully inspire with you today is I want you to challenge yourself in your thinking. It's time for you to challenge your current level of self awareness. It's time for you to challenge the limiting beliefs that are sabotaging your future success. So let me ask this one more time. I know this sounds like a repeat, but these are important. I'm going to ask it one more time and I want you not to allow your conscious mind to prevent you from really exploring what it is you want to accomplish. What would you do if you could not fail?
