Host a 2 Hour Cocktail Party Challenge- Using Nick Gray's book

YouTube live kickoff (Stacey Lauren) for a ‘Do the Thing’ challenge to host a Two-Hour Cocktail Party based on Nick Gray’s book. Stacey explains the challenge structure, the Do the Thing “I’M GAME” formula (Identify, Mindset, Goal/dares, Accountability, My people, Educate), logistics (pick a date 16–22 Oct preferred), community support, prize incentives, and guest appearance by author Nick Gray who reviews party basics (15–22 guests ideal, in-person, name tags, icebreakers, simple snacks, invite scripts, triple-reminder RSVP flow). Stacey will run weekly check-ins and provide dares, resources, and a JotForm to record party dates.

Stacy, Lauren, and I am the host of the do the Thing podcast. And we are doing the kickoff right now for the do the thing host your two hour cocktail party challenge. We're doing it off of.
Nick Gray's book. So I'm really excited to be able to help you guys host your to our cocktail party. So I'm going to go ahead and just do a couple technical things right now just to make sure that you guys are seeing what I am. That I am live. I'm actually, for the first time ever, trying to do two screens.
So we'll make sure that you guys are. See how that works. What I am that I am live. I'm actually for the first time ever trying to do two screens.
So that works. No. Why are you still playing I am live. I'm actually, for the first time ever trying to do two screen pause there. There we go. I got it. Okay. I'm going to pin this right now if it will let me. For some reason, it won't let me do it that way. Okay, let's go ahead and try.
Let's see. And we are right now in the singles group, and we're also in the regular challenge group. Oh, I know what to do. I'm going to go into the groups right now and pin it that way just to make sure I'm live. Okay, there we go. Perfect. And so this group is going to be held in the challenge group, but we're streaming the live in both groups just to make sure that everyone that wants to participate can participate. Because sometimes people want to start a challenge, they hear about it and they hear about it late. This challenge is one that we'll want to have you guys all be on time for. So really, every. In order for us to all host our parties together, we have to start this week. So a lot of do the thing challenges, we actually are okay with waiting until like, let's say you start week three. Sometimes it's okay to do that. For this one, we actually, in order to host the parties together, we're going to all start at the same time. So let me just make sure everyone sees it. We are live with the kickoff.
For the two hour cocktail party challenge. We are going to be.
Doing this challenge in the other group. I wanted to do the kickoff here.
Okay. So we're doing that in the singles group. And I've got another screen. So this is exciting. It's my first time doing this, so you'll just have to bear with me for a minute as I like kind of navigate this New thing that I'm trying. I figured this was the perfect time to try this. And why don't I see you in the challenge group? It is having trouble.
Going there. I think it's not.
Oh, there I am. I see me. Okay, cool. I'm going to pin it. Awesome. And I see you guys. Yay. Very cool. Okay, let me just do it quick. Everyone.
We are live.
For the kickoff for the two hour cocktail party.
Challenge. Okay, technical stuff is done. Hi, guys. I am so just thrilled. We have been working so hard on the back end of this challenge because this is the first time that I've done a challenge off of a book. So what happened was I met Nick Gray through my podcast. I had interviewed Katherine Lavery, who is the founder of the Best Self company. And on that, on that podcast interview, she had said that she had gone to a two hour cocktail party and she had met Nick Gray through that. And Nick Gray is the author of this book, the Two Hour Cocktail Party. And so she said it was one of the best parties she'd ever been to in his life. And so I asked her to connect us together so I could interview him on my podcast. I interviewed him last year and it was incredible. It was so cool to just hear how a simple party could really be this connection point for so many things. Because what it is, it's not just about the party. It's about being confident, being a host, but also not in burning the energy that a lot of people can burn when they're hosting new things and when they're doing new things. And so it's just a great opportunity to be able to meet people in a different way, connect people together. And so it's just. Just a really. It's just a really unique experience. And so at the time, I didn't. I didn't do a party yet. I had gotten the book, I wanted to do a party, and I didn't have time or whatever, insert excuse of whatever it was that came up. And then what happened? I'm trying to even remember what happened. But anyway, I don't even remember what spurred it. But then all of a sudden I decided to. To do the party and then I got excited. So I actually recorded my whole experience of me doing the party and then I decided to do the challenge and then here we are. So it's like really cool that we're here. It' fun to be able to do something together. For some of you, this could be a comfort stretch. Maybe you've never hosted a party before and you could be nervous about doing it for the first time. For others of you, you could be like a really confident party host. You might do this all the time and you're just looking for a different kind of party. And I can tell you, for both of you, this is going to be great because he has a formula that he does in his book and he shows you just a really easy way to be able to do it. And so he's going to be joining us at some point in the middle of this session, so he'll just.
Hopping on. So. Perfect. Just checking you guys out right now. I see some of your comments. So good to see you guys. Awesome. Hi, Neil. Hi, Nicole. Awesome. Hi, Leanne. I'm from South Florida too. It's funny, I live in San Diego now, but that's where I. That's where I grew up. Okay, I'm gonna try and see the chats here. Okay, perfect. We are good. All right, guys, well, I'm gonna go ahead. This is the kickoff. So we're gonna give you probably the most information today and then we're going to be meeting on Mondays, same time, same place while the challenge is going on. So I could be here to answer any questions, help you solve any problems.
And be able to really just help you kind of like give you this great space to be able to host your party. So I'm going to go ahead and share my screen. I'm using a new platform today, so I bear with me on the technical side. I figured this was a great time to try. It was when a lot of you are going out of your comfort zone. So let me know if you guys can see my screen right now just so I can be sure that you are seeing me.
You guys can just let me know. And today I'm actually streaming on YouTube also.
Let me see if share this tab instead. I wonder, can you see me? Can you see. Can you guys see my screen? I wonder.
You can. Okay, good. Thank you. Appreciate it. Okay, good. Thank you, Lala. Okay, awesome. Okay, so here we go. Congratulations for joining the do the Thing to our cocktail party. So we are going to have so much fun together, you guys. So the whole thing with do the Thing is just all about not waiting for opportunity. We want you to be able to create it. I've heard so much from people that like, they want to be able to meet new people and, you know, or even like they haven't found people that like, connect with them at a certain level. And this is a great way to be able to just curate your own experience and your own friend group. And so, anyway, I'm just really excited that you guys are here. I do have a couple podcasts. The do the Thing podcast is the big one. That's the one that, like, helped me dissect a formula, which I'm going to show you guys in a minute, which helps people do the thing. So there's specific action items that I've been able to kind of put together, which are going to be able to help you get through all the things that you're going to be kind of coming up against. And then I also have a little experimental podcast I'm playing around with called the do the Thing Dating Experiment and the do the Thing formula. So this is really at the bottom of everything. This is kind of what got me to start. The challenges that I've been doing is I wanted to test the formula. I uncovered it through my podcast, and then I wanted to test it. And the reason why I'm telling you guys this is because I'm going to ask you to do certain things through this challenge, and it's really important that you do them because it's going to be how you're going to be able to do it. I'd love to kind of know. Do you. Have you guys ever had something that you've wanted to do and you've signed up for and you haven't completed it? Feel free to comment in the chat about that, because that's something that the do the Thing formula basically is able to help you with is I've been able to combine these elements together. And so with every challenge that we've been able to do, as long as you follow the steps, you're going to be able to follow through on the thing that you want. And then what's cool is when you learn.
When you learn how to use the formula, it's something you can actually use in your life, too. So the formula is an acronym, and it's I'm game. So. So the I is identify the why. So you guys actually did this. A lot of you, when you posted your pledge card in the group saying that you wanted to join the challenge, and you basically were able to say why you wanted to join the challenge. And so for those of you that haven't done that yet, I would encourage you to do that or comment right now and just say why you want to. Why you're here. Why do you want to join the challenge? And for those of you that are watching this in the singles group and you're still kind of Checking it out because I do have a not to confuse things. We're only going to do this once in both groups that I have. But I just wanted to make sure anyone that wanted to participate in the challenge was able to. So that's why it's streaming in both groups. And so for the singles group, you guys have the dating dare challenge starting middle of October and that's a five day challenge. This is the two hour cocktail party challenge. So just to make sure we're clear on that. But just say why you want to join the challenge. What are you looking to get out of it? What do you hope will come for you as you go through it? And so identifying the why is a really important part of the formula. And then the M in I'm game is mindset. And you guys got to see this already as well because we did a mindset dare.
Basically with what are your excuses and how are you wanting to overcome those excuses uses and so many of you already posted that and it was incredible to see how you were able to tap in deeper to figure out what could really get in your way. And this is a really important piece of the do the thing formula because what happens when you want to do something new? Sometimes you get tired, right? Or you're exhausted or you have other things that you need to do. You know, maybe it's not a want to do, but you have to do all these things. Life gets in the way. You could be an introvert for this challenge. That could be something that you might have to come against. You could have. I've heard Lala actually when she did her post earlier today, hers was she's traveling so she's already decided to have this party be a virtual party because that's the only way she's going to be able to do it. And she wanted to be able to have a community to be able to do a new kind of party. And so the mindset piece is really important. So for those of you that haven't posted that yet, I'll show you how during this call, I'm going to actually show you how we're going to give you the things that you're going to do and then what to do with it. That's something we're going to get into. But first I wanted to explain the formula. Then the G and I'm game is goal. The goal is in this challenge specifically we do dares. The three words that really just make everything happen is called I dare you. And it's just a really simple dare that I'm gonna get you to do because you might not be ready. There's going to be a couple things on this live today that I'm gonna ask you to do, and you're gonna be like, oh, my God. But I need to know and this and that, and I need and I need and I want and whatever gets in your way normally, I'm gonna kind of be here for you, walking you through it so that you'll be able to actually do it. And so the goals that I do in this challenge are dares, and they're not typically other than there's one today that could be a little bit scary. They're not typically so scary. They're usually micro dares that when compounded, they kind of compound over time. And then you're like, what happened? I just hosted a party. Like, you'll look back in a month and be like, oh, my gosh, that was the coolest thing. So you get to kind of work through the pieces of the formula as we go through the. As we go through this challenge. But the A in game is accountability, and that's what you guys are going to be doing together. You're going to be really holding each other accountable by showing up, because the more you post and the more you share what you're doing with your party, the more it's going to inspire and encourage another person to do it as well. And so I'm really excited for you guys to see this idea of just, like, how much having each other to hold yourselves accountable will do for you. And then the m in game is my people. So my people is you guys. So you guys all want the same thing. You're doing the same thing, and that's what gives you the opportunity to get connected and to grow. And so by you being in this community and you all wanting to host a party, we're going to really be able to just tap into the my people part of it. And then educate is also a really important part of the do the thing formula. I'm game. Educate is from you learning, right? I'm going to go through things, through this challenge that you're going to learn about. We're going to be using Nick Gray's book. I don't know if you guys can actually see me. That's okay. You're going to be holding up his book right now. You're going to be using Nick Gray's book, and we're going to be working through that, through the challenge. And then also here's what's so freaking Cool. And you can hear it from our other community members that have been through do the thing challenges before is with the second part of the E. And educate. You're going to get to educate others. So some of you are going to find a hack for doing something in this book that you're going to be like, oh, my gosh, this is so cool. This is how I just invited someone to my party and they said yes, or, oh, I just found this out. You're going to be able to then educate people, and then I'll eventually help other people host their own parties. So it's really exciting. I'm going to kind of like, as the challenge goes on, I'll be showing you how the pieces of the formula will integrate. But that's why it's really important. Whereas sometimes when you're in another program that you might not finish or you're doing another kind of, like, thing that you might procrastinate on would do the thing. The reason why I think so many people get the results they want is because you understand that the combination of all the pieces of the formula is what's going to help you take action on the thing you want. So you're basically, by being in this challenge, you're not going to only learn how to host a party. You're going to learn how to beat procrastination because you're going to realize, like, you were able to do it with this challenge, and you're going to be able to use that in your life as well. So I'm really excited just to give you some ideas of.
The different. Sorry, I'm just checking. Making sure I'm good here. Okay, good. Just to give you guys an idea of some of the other challenges that we've had through do the thing is the dating dare challenge. We've done that actually, a few times already. We did a find your voice challenge, and right now we're in the middle of an on demand find your voice challenge. And that's going incredible. People are having really amazing transformations in there. And then we have done a start a book challenge. We did a vision casting workshop. We did a startup podcast challenge. Many people in this community are from starting their podcast. Hi, Fern. I just saw you in the singles group. So exciting. And then. Cool. I'm liking my. My two screens. And let me just take a minute too. So.
So good. I am. Oh, interesting. I have to figure out how to see all the comments, but I'm getting there. This is just a new platform. So great. So Neil said, enjoying Learning new things. I'm very curious about everything. And then Star said, I'm here because I want to be more social. And then Lala, my heart with you, all of this. I lost both of my baby sisters in January and my life has changed and my perspective is totally different. Just do it, do the thing. And Lala is amazing. We've done an interview. She was my first Instagram interview actually, after the Go Live challenge. And you guys will learn a lot from her through the challenge as well. We also did a startup podcast intensive, which is a one day intensive where we help people start podcasts, a get fit challenge. And one of the most fun challenges was Go Live where we all just went live together on different platforms and just got to just have fun together. So yeah, we like to have a lot of fun in the do the thing community. And the goal is for so many people is just to build confidence, get out of your comfort zone and to meet new people. And, and so I made a note of like all, not all the reasons, but these were some of the most common reasons you guys were here. You know, when you joined our Facebook group and you joined for the two hour cocktail party challenge, you said connection, more self confidence, gathering with lots of friends. I want to network and be able to create a new circle of mature women focused on growth, to grow a better social circle. And so, so many, so many amazing reasons and that's why you guys are here. And so it's just amazing to be able to have this opportunity to do it with you. I'm going to go ahead and just share. Just for those of you that might be new to the community, I'll just share a couple of videos of people talking about the do the Thing community because the first thing I want you guys to do is feel safe in this community, to be able to really express yourself and how you're feeling. So this first kickoff we're doing on where this is on YouTube, this is on both of the Facebook groups, and then I think it's on LinkedIn also. So I'm streaming it on a lot of platforms today. But after today we're not going to do anything out in the public. Everything's going to be private in this group. And so you're going to feel like the people in this community are going to be encouraging you and rooting for you along the way. And so I want to give you some ideas of what people have said in the past so then you can feel that, like safety through the people in this community.
Can you guys hear that if you don't mind letting me know. Sorry, I'm so new to doing this this way, but I'll. I'll play it and then just let me know if you hear it.
And then let's see.
Oh, can you guys not see my screen? I just realized you guys can't see my screen. Hold on one second. Sorry.
Can you see me now?
Okay, I don't know if you can hear me or not. We'll see. Okay. Lala said this community is full of love and support, great connections and new relationships. Okay, I don't think I'll. Sorry, I can't understand. Randy, you're gonna have to just tell me if you guys can hear it or not.
I don't hear whatever I'm supposed to be hearing. Okay, so I think what I'll do then is. Oh, you can hear it. Okay, I'm gonna play this and tell me if you can hear this. All right.
And if you're not nervous, then you don't need to be there, basically because you've already mastered whatever it is that we're challenging. When you're nervous and you reach down in your gut and you get past that nervousness, that's when you start gaining the knowledge that you need and achieving the goals that you want and stuff like that. But if you're not nervous, then you don't need to be there.
Okay, great. So we're seeing. You guys can hear me. Can you hear the slide? Were you able to just hear Jeremy talk about the. The community? It looks like yes. I'm going to play Cindy next. And that's a really good thing that you've had throughout all the challenges is it's a very comfortable, safe, open, inquisitive, supportive community, and it is active. So you do get the give and take within the group and whatever the topic is and the motivation that people provide outside of your dares. Okay. All right, perfect. Thanks for cooperating, guys. So this is my first time using this particular platform in this way. So, anyway, now, of course, my dog's freaking out, so we're having all the fun today. Okay, so why do we do these challenges for free? Okay, so I like to do research for my book. I'm writing a book right now. I like to do the application for the formula. I also get to promote my podcast for do the Thing and for do the Thing dating experiment. And I love it when you guys share your growth experience in the group and then on social media at do the Thing formula. I also get to promote my products and Other people's products. I have a kitchen brand, the E Commerce brand, I've just been messing around with. But we're about to put something out that's really cool, so feel free to follow the store. It's called Kitchen Pixie. Madeline, one of our community members, she created the podcast. It's All Creative. When we did the podcast challenge, she did a whole episode on one of the products that I have in there. So it's fun to be able to just sort of. Sort of play around with that a little bit. And then I get new followers on my podcast. I get Instagram, and then YouTube is the big one that I'm really wanting to promote now because I guess you can monetize your YouTube channel. And I am far away. But I would love you guys to follow my YouTube. It's do the Thing formula. I do a lot of stuff on there. I do street interviews. I do. What else? Comedy routines. I also put my people on my podcast on there. So it's really. It's been. It's just a really eclectic group of stuff. And we're going to be using Nick Gray's book through this challenge and through this process. We would love you to.
Check out his YouTube and Instagram and you'll. I'll kind of show examples of that along the way. And then also, if you have not gotten his book yet, please buy his book because we're going to be using it through the challenge.
And so I was just watching your interview with.
This was something that Vicki Poole, she created her podcast through the do the Thing podcast challenge and.
The do the Thing podcast challenge. Oh, Neil said he loves dogs. That's so great. And she's the host of Today's Dream and Tomorrow's Reality. She heard the expert panel from Nick and I when we were talking about the cocktail party. And I'm just sharing what she said.
The guy that wrote the book for the next challenge. And I want to say, one of the things that I've always said I wanted to have is a house where people gather and people feel comfortable there, and people love coming there. And I've never had that because it seems like when I schedule things, people don't show up or it becomes kind of odd. I don't know. So this just really scares the shit out of me in one way, because it's like, well, what if I do all this and then I get the same response? Then I'll know it's just me kind of thing. But on the other hand, it really, really excites Me of having this hand holding to make this thing that I've always wanted in my life to be there. So just wanted to add that in. Thank you so much.
So good. And I did an expert panel on my podcast. It's episode number 180. Definitely encourage you guys. Check it out. Nick and I talked about the challeng and why we want you to host the two hour cocktail party and you can get the book on audible. But I actually accessed his book a lot while planning my party. I just did a little quick show of me doing this. I feel like Nick Gray knows people and just how easy it is to get distracted and he is a master. Here we go. I have a shopping list. It's funny. I got this emailed to me too. But there's something about just having the book that's exciting. Anyway, I'm basically saying to buy the book. Um, and then. Or you can actually lala just put up a good point. Um, the book is on Kindle as well so you can get it instantly. So there's just a lot of ways. I also have a full video of me on YouTube planning and hosting my party. So it's a full on like I think it's like an hour and a half. Yeah. So an hour and a half. That's actually all I spent on the prep for my party because every time I touched anything other than inviting my guests, every other time I actually recorded a video on it. So that's actually kind of interesting. So if you ever want to see the full on thing, feel free to to check it out. And then I have Stacy. I have a little video of Lynn Cruz. She's in the find your voice challenge right now. And then she also did the go live challenge with us as well. And she did a little recording on like when she watched the video. So I just had to share this as well.
Girl, you are the bomb. I just love the way you show up so raw and real and just taking us through it as you're going through it. That was absolutely amazing. Would I do it? Oh, heck yeah. Oh, heck yeah. I would do a cocktail party like that for sure. I think just like I said, what I loved the most was you taking us through the whole process all the way to the party. That was just freaking amazing. It is one of the best ways to connect, to make connections, to connect on a human level, on a more personal level, on a more intimate level. The whole charcuterie board thing.
That was hilarious.
That was hilarious. But so real. So absolutely real. But Stacy, girl, you Just keep showing up for us. I love this group. We just pop in for each other. It's so amazing. True connections are being made. I just love you guys. I love you guys.
So good. And then it's great because Nick actually has videos for everything. He has a video on his, on his YouTube that shows how to host a party in a small apartment. So pretty much any objection you guys have, he has something for it. And then I just encourage you to visit his to our cocktail party site because he has a lot of info. I was able to like ask them questions throughout mine. I had a problem. I mean it's a good problem but like people were wanting to invite people. I had one person that want to invite five people. So I was like trying to decide what I should do and they basically were telling me to keep the guests between 15 to 20 and like so they're, they're really good with like giving advice as well because their mission is to actually help 500 people host parties. And I think he's at 300 now. So I would love to see you guys help bank the last couple hundred. So. Okay, now I'm going to go through how to do the challenge. Let me just check in with you guys. Hold on. Let me figure out how to not share my screen.
Okay. I love new technology.
Okay, there we go. Am I, can you see me?
Okay, can you guys see me or am I still sharing my screen?
Okay, so.
Okay, great. And then you guys, Randy put the, the two hour cocktail party into the comments as well so you guys could see, see how to buy that. Let me just close. Okay, good. You could see me. Thanks you guys. Okay, awesome. I'm gonna just check and see, make sure. So yeah, I love getting together with my friends. You have the book on audible. That's amazing.
And then. Oh, here's a good one. Stacy is great at just jumping in and showing us how it's done. It shows you that you can do it. Shaking your boot. What can you lose? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I love that. So good. And then great. This will be awesome to do during the holidays. That's the other thing that's really nice you guys, is.
Once you learn how to do it, then you could do it again and again. So like my second party that I did, so the first one I showed you, it took me an hour and a half for like the whole time that it took me to plan like so over the four week period or three week period that I used to plan the party, it took me an hour and A half the second party, it took me, like, 10 minutes because I already had everything. I didn't have to think. I just, like, knew exactly what to do. So that's the other thing that's nice is once you learn his formula, I'm the person that tends to like to go overboard. I talk a lot about it, a lot in that hour and a half video. So I won't make. I won't talk about it again because I think some of you might want to watch that. But I'm an overboard kind of person. So then the problem is that.
When I want to do something again, I don't want to do it because I'm exhausted because I just spent all this time doing it in the first place. And so that's what I really like about this is there. You don't have to go overboard. Everything's pretty much already laid out for you, so. Great. Well, I'm going to go ahead and. Go ahead and share my screen again.
Let's see if I can.
Figure out how to do this. Okay, we're going to try it again. All right. We're just going to play together, and you guys are just going to tell me how I'm doing if you can see me. Okay, so we should be seeing the screen that Ash basically. Oh, no, I think you don't see this. I think I figured out what I did. Okay, can you. Okay, good, thanks. Okay, great. You guys see the screen with Ash? Basically. Okay, good. Thank you, Brandy. I appreciate it. Okay, here we go. All right, guys, we're good. Download our challenge packet from your email. So we. If you signed up for the challenge, we emailed you a challenge packet, and it's a PDF, so find it in your email, and then you're going to post your pledge. And then we also are going to be giving you guys out prizes. And what I forgot to mention right now is Randy, who's my cousin, is in the background, and she is the prize giver outer. Also, in addition to these prizes, she gives out raffle prizes during the live videos. Because every week during this challenge, we're going to be doing a live challenge. And I just think I heard Nick. Come on. So let me stop sharing for a minute. So I just. Hold on one second. Figure out how to go back to him. There we are. Okay, great. Oh, good, he's here. Yay. Okay, so we're. So Randy's in the background, and she is like, every time you guys do a comment, when the timer goes off, she's going to be basically picking a winner and Then you'll get a multitude of things that you win between. Do the thing. Swag. Somebody still might get a book, although you should already have the book to read it, but you might get a book that you can give to a friend. And we have some other things that you guys can have as well, like Amazon gift cards and things like that. And so. Oh, my gosh, you guys, guess who's here.
I'm waiting.
We have the author of the book, the Two Hour Cocktail Party here, Nick Gray. And so I'm so excited because I wanted to bring him on. So that way you can.
Ask him any question that you think is going to stop you from hosting your party. Because today we're going to have you pick the date that you're going to do your party. And I'll explain what that looks like a little bit more. But we're going to go ahead and bring him on, because I see him. Okay. Yay. Hey.
Wow. Holy smokes. Did we do it? Hello.
We did it.
We did it. We did it. What's up, everybody? Hello. Greetings.
So exciting. Thanks so much for joining. I really appreciate it.
Thanks for hosting me on the do the Thing challenge. Stacy.
I feel like this has been such a long time coming. Like, we've been talking about, like, wanting to do it since, like, last year. And then finally I'm like, finally I hosted a party, and I'm like, oh, my God. It's like this secret, like, networking tool, friend tool, comfort zone tool. Like, any kind of tool you could possibly want in your life is what this is, you know?
Yes. And we're doing it at the perfect time, too, because, like, now it's a little more hosting season. Do you know what I mean? It's like there's more parties and events and, like, people are back from summer travels and things like that.
So good. Well, okay, so how about you guys?
How about you guys tell us, Is there any. Cause what's. What we're going to be doing today is. And I haven't gotten there yet, but I'm going to get there at some point. But pretty much we're going to literally have you pick the date for your party. And some of you are like, wait, what? I don't even have the book yet.
And some of you have the book, and you're like, but I don't know this and I don't know that, and I don't know all these things. And I want to encourage you that we're going to help you through this challenge, figure all that out. But there's this one part in your book, Nick, that I love, and it's like, it talks about. It's like a challenge, and it basically, I have it on the PowerPoint, but I'm not going to share my screen right now because that's hard. But it basically says, like, pretend like you, like, know everything and then just schedule the day to your party from three weeks from now. And so, and I love that because that's basically we're going to ask you guys to do. But the nice thing is this challenge is going to be here as a guide, and then, of course, you have your. Your book alongside of you. But I'd love to hear what you guys have for him as far as, like, your concerns. Is there anything coming up for you that you want him to help you kind of, like, work through? I know some people said, like, so one person had said, hold on a sec.
Can I call some of these people out? I see the comments going.
Sure.
Who is going to do a September 28th nacho summer anymore? Tailgate party? I have so many questions about this. Number one, I love nachos. Number two, you really should plan it at least three weeks out. Yes. Like Leanna's saying, because if your friends show up to a nacho party and you hit them with name tags and nachos, they might be a little surprised. And so we should just strategize about it. If you haven't told them that they're doing name tags and icebreakers, it's great to do this as a specific party just to network and meet new friends. Anyhow, Stacy knows what's up. I'm going to shut up and give it back.
No, do it. I love that you're engaging. It's great. I didn't even. We didn't even prep, so I didn't even know if you would know how to see the comments. I love that you, like, already know that. Okay, here's an amazing one. Okay, you ready, Nick? Yes. I can't wait to hear what you say for this one. I don't know a single person in this whole city.
Wow. I have to be honest. It's going to be difficult for that person. It's going to be difficult. And it's going to be a turbo challenge. They're going to have advanced level challenge. And so for those people who doesn't know a single person, I would set your party out probably four weeks in advance to really give yourself the time. And then you're going to have to make a real commitment to go out and meet people and stuff like that. But the good news is that when you're new in a town and saying, like, I'm just here to make new friends, I want to meet new people, people are receptive to that.
Totally. I just saw somebody say I was going to try to. I thought I. Oh, I did a little QR code. Hold on one second. So then they could buy your book.
Oh, nice, nice, nice. Fantastic. I'll put the link in there as well.
Okay, good. Oh, here that is. Okay, good. Here we go. Okay, cool. Yeah, I also. Oh, here, I have a better one. This one's better. I was playing around a lot, obviously. There we go. That's, like, in our face. Let's see if we could show a better screen. Wow.
I see so many good questions. Nikesha saying, confidence addressing the crowd. Misty saying, how are we out and about? I just lost the comment.
Oh, sorry. Let me find it again.
Here we go. It's all good.
There you go.
I'm still looking at them. What's a good recommended budget to plan with? I think depending on how much drinks and alcohol or snacks you want to serve. But I tell people a hundred dollars or less. In reality, I hosted an amazing event last week. On Wednesday night, I think I spent less than $20. I just had some basic seltzer and some salted nuts, and I had a couple.
Alcoholic options, but I think about $100 or less. If that's not in your budget, we'll still be able to work within that.
And that's. I mentioned that earlier is I'm an overdoer, you know, and so. But then by the time, like, I want to do it again, I don't because it's, like, exhausting. And that's what I loved about this book. It's like, it's so clearly written out, you know, so when you guys go to shop. And I say that because, like, he's already thought of everything. So you don't have to. You just go to the chapter or we'll help you through it and then you're able to do it. I wanted to also mention to the person that said they don't know anyone in the city. I thought about this today, Nick, and I'm curious what you think. There's all these people that, like, you normally don't see, right? Like the person that's serving your drinks at the bar or the post office person, like that delivers your mail or your hairdresser, or the person that, like, maybe you. You see walking your dog, you know, there's all these people that maybe you never like, would even think about, but these are all people that are potentials for you to invite to your party. Yes.
And that's the magic of this. As we get older, it's harder to make more friends. And everybody wants to know someone who brings people together, who hosts a party. Imagine this. Nobody was going to get mad at you for inviting them to a free party. Like, someone's not going to be like, stop inviting me to your free party. I don't want to know what it is. I don't want to go to it. Sometimes, by the way, I tell them, I'm like, this is not a multi level marketing thing. I'm just getting together, like all these cool people that I've met here in town, and I want them to mix and mingle. And I'm going to have name tags and I'll lead some icebreakers. They'll be fast and they'll be fun. But the purpose of the party is for you to meet new people and to have a lot of little conversations. So that's really the goal. The number of people that you want to have, the minimum really is 15. The maximum is about 22. So your sweet spot is right about 17 or 18 people. And we're going to give you that three full weeks. That's so that you can fill up your list of RSVPs and make sure that everybody comes. Now, I've helped over 400 people host their first party, so I've heard just about everything. I'm confident that I can help everybody. In the do the Thing challenge, Stacy's also hosted, what, two of them? Right. So you're a pro at it yourself.
Yeah, and it was fun too, because the first one I did exactly by the book, you know, like everything was like exact. And then the second one I actually added, I wanted to. I've been doing improv, so I added improv to it. And it's fun because once you know how to do it, then you're able to, you know, pretty much kind of like extend. Extend it to however you want. Like once you understand the ease of it, you know, kind of like I told them the second one. The first one took me an hour and a half during the three weeks of planning because I recorded every step on that YouTube video. The second one took me like 10 minutes. That was it. And it was like, because everything. I already had everything done.
It's so fast. Now somebody just said, I normally have about 27 people attend. When 50 people say, yes, this is a Common thing that happens. And when you follow my formula, I think you'll get closer to about 93% attendance rate. So you don't want to have all 50 people say yes because then you'll have 45 people who are coming. The way that we get people to come is that we do a double opt in. Invitations. The book will go through this. But like, you're not going to blast something on Facebook saying, hey, everybody, I'm having a party. Sign up here. No, you're going to message people individually say, hey, I'm hosting a little mixer on such and such night. It's at this time at my place. Can I send you the info? And only if they say yes, then you send them the link to the party. But then you'll also send three reminder messages. And these are all part of the special secret sauce that are going to help you to have people really excited and they're going to think of you as an amazing host.
Oh, it's incredible. I just remember when I was sending out those emails, I think I sent you because I was so excited. People were just saying how cool it was because they're not used to feeling so seen when they're going to a party. And I think I even had the guy that edits my podcast and then a really good friend of mine. They didn't even know each other before, but they work at the same coworking space. And when I sent the email out, that's how they met already before the party, you know, and so anyway, you're giving all these people this opportunity. I wanted to address this one. Nick is confidence addressing the crowd, but stumbling over my speech. These are problems I want to address.
Great, we'll talk about those. And also star, you can still do it for your birthday, so I'll talk about that. Somebody else want to know, does it have to be at home or can you rent a space? I would suggest at home. I have a whole chapter on why I can talk about why doing at your home is important. Even if you have a small apartment like I do or you don't live in an ideal location, doing it at home is best. But for what Stacy said about practicing your speech and having the confidence, let me just say that these parties low key are like the best job skills training. Like, I know that you're not doing this party to get a job or to find a job or to work on your skills at work, but they help so much once you realize what it's like to run and be a leader amongst your friends. For all of the scripts, by the way, they're in the book. And I have a guy who read my book in Houston who has social anxiety. He actually has to take Xanax because he gets so nervous. He actually read from the book. He just took the book out and just read the scripts at his party. And he said, I'm so happy that I had that because it gave me the confidence to know exactly what to do and what to say. Maybe it was a little bit awkward, but he never froze up. He knew exactly what to do, and it gave him the confidence to keep hosting. And since then, he's hosted, like, six meetups, which I thought was cool.
Yeah, it's so cool. And you realize, like, when people get to see your human too, and you're doing something new, like, you're inspiring them, you know? And so that's what I don't think people realize is just how inspired people. People get by just even seeing you do something that maybe you haven't done yet.
Stacey, I'm obsessed with your community. I kind of love the do the thing challenge people. These people are amazing, and they have so many awesome questions, and they're like, we're gonna do this now. I know that there's like, my home is a safe space. I'm looking for a job. Hello from la. Hello from Orange, Texas. I'm in Austin, Texas, by the way. I used to live in New York City city for, like, 13 years, and I hosted hundreds of parties. And then I moved here to Austin. I didn't know. Really didn't know anybody. By the way, I may present as an outgoing, like, extrovert, but I promise you, when I first started, I would go to nightclubs or networking events and not talk to a single person all night. I would leave frankly feeling like a loser. Like, oh, I'm not good at this. Like, I suck. I'm bad. Like, why is this like this? And I realized that it wasn't that I was bad, it's just that I was going to bad events. And so I decided. I said, hey, I'm going to start to learn how to host good events that I can do well at. And so that's one of the things that I found is how to host these good events.
So good. And so how do you encourage someone that's just. And maybe even think about the people that you've helped host through them reading your book, like, where they're just terrified, you know, they've never done anything like this before. And this is just like, new.
Okay, here's a easy, practical piece of advice that all the stuff in my book, by the way, this isn't rocket science. And I'll tell you all the secrets. If for some reason you can't afford to buy the book or you don't want to buy the book, we'll help you out and I'll tell you all the secrets inside of it. But one that's obvious. And some of you probably do this. Oh, someone wants to know, can this be done virtually? No, this cannot be done virtually. I do not like virtual gatherings in the same way, they're much harder to do. So this is for in person only. Stacy may have ideas on how this can be adapted for virtual. So I'll defer to her. She's the virtual princess. But my specialty is like live stuff.
Yeah, we actually.
Can I do mine?
Yeah, we actually have Lala. She was in our Go Live challenge and she's traveling and is not able to do real life. So she is going to be doing it virtual. So we'll. I'll, I'll kind of. I'll get inspired by seeing how she's doing it too. But we do. If you are able to do it in real, in real life, like, unless you have a reason like that where you're traveling the world and you like literally have no place to have it, then do a live event.
Yes. Oh my gosh, I love this person, Jennifer, who wants to do a block party. This is perfect for that. I've heard about ones, by the way, where somebody hosts something called like a drink and drive where they drink in the driveways. And the rule is that you can't even go inside the host house to use the bathroom because that removes their feeling that their house has to be perfect. So for these block parties, anyhow, somebody else said, can we host this on Halloween? And the answer is no. Halloween is a red level day. Halloween is socially competitive. People have other plans. You're more likely to get cancellations, higher expectations and not as many RSVPs. I suggest hosting this on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night. I've slightly evolved. Probably Tuesday and Wednesday nights are best. I do it like 6 to 8pm or you could do 6:30 to 8, 7 to 9 based on your group. But know that this is not a long rager of a party. People will actually drink very little alcohol. I don't even drink alcohol myself, which is ironic that I wrote a book about how to host a cocktail party and I don't drink. But we use that phrase cocktail party because that's A lightweight social gathering. Can you do it on a Sunday night? Sure. You could test your audience, and if they're free on a Sunday evening. Sometimes I find in the summer, people are, like, exhausted at the end of a Sunday. But I think as we go into more. Yes, yes, you can do it on a Sunday.
So good. So amazing. Well, do you guys have any other questions for Nick? We're going to go through the rest of the challenge, but just be prepared. In about 10 minutes, I'm going to. Five minutes, I'm going to be asking you to pick your date. So ask Nick now if there's anything else that's going to hold you back from picking your date.
Yes, yes, yes. I'm going to work with you. So I'm just going to look through a few more of the questions. So one person said, my husband and I host game nights at our house every month. I love that idea. I love it. However, I want to challenge you. How many people come to your game nights? I want to know in the comments. You really want to have a minimum of 16 people, and here's why. If you have less than 16, the energy in the room is not as electric, and it takes more work for you as the host. When there's only 12 people, there's moments of silence. It kind of dulls down, by the way, you actually don't want people sitting down too much. You want them standing if they're able, as much as possible, because it's so much harder to approach new groups, to start new conversations when they're seated. So for all the icebreakers, we're going to ask people if they're able to stand, to stand up, move rooms, form a new circle, and do a quick round of icebreakers. That's because we're really looking to shift the room. And I promise you, if you follow this formula, people are going to be like, you're the best host ever. And you're going to be thinking, all I did was buy $6 of name tags and lead two icebreakers, and this person thinks I'm the best host ever. It's crazy. But the bar is so low for social gatherings. So low. Yeah.
Yeah. Even to the point of he gives you a suggestion to put a candle in the bathroom, and people are, like, wowed by that.
Yes. Yes. It's super, super simple.
Yeah.
Yes. You go, Stacy, there's so much.
Are you still. Because I have a few more things I want to go through, but I. If you want to do. Do you want to hang on or hang out? Yeah.
I want to hang out, like, all the time with this group. Someone else says, I'm traveling to Ashley November. Should I set it before or after? I would say let's do it before. If you can do it in October, let's do it before. And that would be good. What is the attire? It's casual. We're just trying to get people to show up. So I tell people, wear whatever you're comfortable in. It's super chill. Come and hang out. I don't want them to feel like they have to dress up. Your first party. Please keep this in mind. Do the thing, challenge people. Your first party should be chill. It should be low stakes. We're not going to invite that boss. We want to hire us. We're not going to invite that person we have a secret crush on. You're going to invite your neighbors, you're going to invite your friends. You're going to invite your random people, their partners, their friends of friends. And you want the first one to be so easy. And then a couple weeks or a couple months later, then you can start to expand and grow your network. I promise you, this will be the best networking tool you've ever. It changed my life 100%.
So good. And I see someone asking when we're going to plan it, so I'm going to go through that next. So let's. We'll.
How far out are we planning to. I don't exactly know what that means, but I'm guessing that that means you're going to pick your challenge and you're going to set your date probably three or four weeks from now. How do you issue the invite? You would do it DM sending them a text message, send them a Facebook message, a message somehow. And then you're going to collect your RSVPs using an event platform. The one that I like best is called Mixaly. I do not like Evite because there's so much ads and spam on it, but I like Mixaly. There's a lot of others out there that are listed. Gen Z loves this one called Partyful. P A R T I F U L. These are all free, by the way. There's no charge to use these. Stacey. I'll shut up. I'm talking too much.
Can you guys see my screen? Can you see it sooner? You can see it.
Okay. It's great.
Yeah. So Nick, we're going to go through his party formula through the challenge, but basically it's all about name tags, icebreakers, cocktails, and then kick them out. What he means by cocktails only. It's no food, just snacks. And so that's, that's what I'm making sure you guys know. I know some of you are thinking this is dinner party. We're not, we're not encouraging that for this book. Following the challenge, we're doing just only snacks. And he has a whole shopping list in the book. And then he. We actually even did this phrase cocktail party. This was from the book. It just basically saying.
Why the cocktails and the snacks are there to set the scene. It's not even about the drinks. And then this was just something I noticed from hosting these parties is like, this one is totally different. I have people that like, never get invited to a party that come that are just like odd and wowed by it. And then I also have people that like, host parties their self, like for hundreds of people on their own. And they're like, oh, my God, that's amazing. And they got your book right after the party. So the other thing I like is that you thought of everything, so I didn't have to. And so I'm going to just move through all this stuff right now. But I'm just showing you guys pretty much we have everything for you through the challenge. But while Nick's here, I want to get to the point of.
Of your dare, so you can see. Hold on, let me. Okay, so your first one you guys did, which was what are your excuses and how will you overcome them? And that was going to basically be something you're going to put in the group or you could comment here. And then I'm just giving one of the responses from Jocelyn who said, I'm results driven, no excuses. And she's already identified all of the ways to overcome them, which I thought was amazing. And then we're going to have you first read chapter one of the book. And then I'm also showing you if you do not have his book yet, order it, but then you can also listen to it on YouTube. He's got the first three chapters of the book on there. Okay, Nick, this is what I wanted to do before you leave. So basically we're encouraging them to do the party between the week of October 16th through the 22nd, so that way we can all celebrate at our end of challenge celebration. The end of Challenge celebration is October 23rd, and so it would be so cool to have all of you guys on that celebration, having already hosted your party. Now for some reason, if you cannot do it during that week, it's okay. We still want to enjoy this time with you, and you'll be able to do it another week. But this is the way the challenge is going to be supported. I'm actually going to be doing my third party during that week. So then I'm pacing along with you so I can do lives as I'm planning each step. So then it's going to be easier for you to, like, follow along as well. But that's. So this is the week. The week. Anytime between the 16th through the 22nd. Nick again suggested Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday being the ideal days to host it, and that's the less competitive date. Okay, pick the date for your party. All right, you guys, are you ready? Here we go. So you're gonna go ahead and pick your date. I want to see all these jotforms coming in. Randy's gonna put this in the comments. Basically, we have this date form, and we're going to have you pick your date right now.
And so I'm gonna come back here. Okay, great. And so go ahead and fill out the jot form for anyone that is not on that JOT forum right now. I want to hear what is stopping you right now.
Stacy, your group is so cool. I'm obsessed. I'm gonna get to do the thing tattoo.
I love it. I love it. Okay, good. Everyone's picking their date. You guys are amazing. I'm so impressed. I'm so excited. This is great, you guys. It's going to be so much fun when we get to celebrate these parties together and when you do something new and you're going to be able to just have the comfort of the community to be able to support you and encourage you and so great. Everyone's picking it. That's great. Randy, do you mind posting the form again? And then. Amazing. Yeah, October 21st is great. So the only thing is, if it's not on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, if it's any other day. Would you want to just talk about that for a minute? Because I am a. I am a veto person. My boyfriend happens to, like, not be available any other day, but, like, because he has his kids Monday through Wednesday. And so we do our parties on Thursday and Friday and it works. But. But I just want to make sure you speak to that, because I think as a general rule, especially for the first party, you prefer it to be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
Yeah. I suggest, if possible, to choose a Tuesday or Wednesday evening if that is available to you. If it doesn't work. Here's the thing, people. You're choosing your date now, and then you're Going to get your five yeses from your core group. Okay. So you're going to follow the formula. Your date may change. You may think that you're going to host. I'm glad you're setting your date. Now, this is the first step of the do the Thing challenge, but you're not going to officially announce it to the world to all your friends until you get five yeses. So you're going to follow the script in the book. You're going to send a message to five of your close friends, maybe up to 10, say, hey, I'm thinking of hosting a little happy hour or a cocktail party on the night of October 18th from 6 to 8pm If I do it, will you come? And you're going to get five yeses before you finally lock it in and share it out to a wider group. So just know that if you're picking a Friday and you ask people and they say, no, I won't be able to, then try another day of the week. Move it back to Wednesday if you're able and try that.
So good. And for those of you, there's some of you that can't do it in October, you're traveling and you want to do it in November, that is totally, totally fine. I still want you to put your date in the jotform because Nick's off his. Who is Ash? She is, like the most amazing person.
So she's great, like, tracking your guys's parties as well. Like, in addition to do the Thing following, she's going to be following up too. So. So if you do it and it's not supported through the challenge, she's like, amazing with being able.
We're still gonna help you out. Me and my team are going to help you out.
Yeah. It's only supported through the do the Thing challenge. If you do your party that week. But then Nick's. Nick's team is there. But so definitely put it in the job form if you can't do it that week. We're just going to all celebrate during that week. So I just wanted to make sure that was. That was clear. So cool. Well, thank you so much for joining us. I appreciate it. And we might call sometime through the challenge, right. If they need help.
Oh, yes. Yes.
Okay.
Yes. I hope you call me back. I would love to come back and. And be here again to say hi to your people. Thank you so much for having me.
Stacy, thank you for coming. This is such a treat. I am just like, I just. I am so grateful, honestly, because anyone that like, can put something in the world that can connect people together when you know no one you know, and you can still be able to create a connection point for people to feel, like, seen and heard in the way that you do. I just think it's such a beautiful thing to have in the world. And I love just that you wrote this book and I love that you're so giving of your time and energy to help people host their own party. So anyway, I appreciate you.
Anything for Stacy. Somebody said I've never had a birthday party. I am so excited to help you plan a birthday party. This is going to be so good. This is going to be great.
So good. Awesome. Well, I'm going to go ahead and show you guys just the rest of details of featured and how to get through the challenge and all that stuff. But we'll be bringing Nick back on at some point throughout the challenge for sure and probably getting on a zoom.
Fantastic. You can kick me off. I'll leave out of here. See you later, Stacy.
Thank you.
Bye.
All right, you guys, so I'm gonna go ahead. That was amazing. I am just like, love that. So good. Okay, so we're gonna go ahead and share the screen again. We're gonna try this again. I want to just show you how you're gonna do the challenge. And sorry, Randy, I am slacking on the prizes. I have a few prize winners for you guys. Let me just tell you who won.
Okay. Jocelyn Latrice Johnson, you have won. And then this is for commenting when Randy picks it. And then Juneella Foster, you are the second winner. So congratulations. Okay, can you guys see my screen again?
Hopefully?
See Thursday, I picked the same day. Time to celebrate. Okay, let me know if you can see my screen because I'm going to go through how to post now as well. Okay, let's see here.
I think. Can you guys see my screen? Hopefully? Yeah, I think you can. Okay, so if anyone's nervous, I just kind of want to show you that. Oh, good. Okay, thank you. I want to show you that pretty much everything is in his book. We're going to help you through all of it during the challenge from playlists. These are pictures from my party. So much fun. I even got people to like, hold on one second. Let me go back for a second. I even got people to shout, do the thing. Which was funny. Hold on. Go back there. Okay.
Here we are. Okay, There we go.
1, 2, 3.
Are we gonna do?
All right.
One, two, three. Two hour cocktail party.
So you get bonus points if you get people to do that at your party, because we love to share that. And then this is just to do the thing hack. I've noticed through all the challenges, again, we've done really complicated things in this group, and we've managed to do it together from going live on different platforms. No one had gone live before for on the different platforms that we went on live. To helping people start podcasts, to helping people date in the other group without dating apps. So we. We are able to, like, really do it by, like, helping you do kind of, like one thing at a time. So it's not. This will be the most like that I go through with content in one time during this whole challenge. I'm just giving you an overview, but I'm showing you an example too. I was getting nervous before my party, so then I went on. Because you have to use it. You don't have to. But he suggests you have a harmonica that you use to, like, do the icebreakers with. So that way it, like, interrupts people. And I was like, oh, my God, I don't really want to do this harmonica thing. And then. Anyway, so then I watched his YouTube video. Hold on one second. I watched his YouTube video and then I loved. Everyone loved the harmonica. Yeah, already.
So anyway, everyone loved the harmonica. It was, like, a big hit. And so all these things I was nervous about, like, I was able to go onto his site and look at. And then after my party, so many people commented. So proud of you for hosting such an amazing event because I know you're more introverted. I just bought the book and I asked my building if I could do a rooftop one this month. You knocked that party out of the park. It was amazing. Thank you so much for hosting an amazing party last night. We had a great time. Oh, my gosh. I really love this framework. I had so much fun the other night at your gathering. It was so nice to meet all the interesting and delightful friends you have. I liked the formula. It was fun. Can't wait to spend more time with you. And then thank you for inviting me and throwing such a fun party. It was great to meet so many people, make some connections. And so. And then we have. This is the pledge card. So thank you for Christine for posting this. Basically just saying she's excited to join. Unique approach to getting out of her comfort zone. I joined this challenge because I know many people from many sources who could benefit by being connected to each other. Isn't that great, you guys? And this would be a no stress way to make this all happen. So that's what I love is like, you're not only like giving a gift for people that are like used to doing parties, but you're also giving to this gift to people that might not ever be going to a party. Post your pledge. We have Lala and Joyce. They did theirs in video. Feel free to do yours in video. Or you could post a picture. But for those of you that didn't see, I'll just show you that there's as well.
Hi, fellow Doodooers. I'm Rose upon ik. I wanted to accept the do the Thing close to Chihuahua cocktail party. I had to read it. I had to make sure I had the right one.
I am so excited to be doing this with you all. I love learning new things and I love, I don't know, I just, I love people. So I really like Stacey's do the Thing challenges. It gets me out of my comfort zone. It gets me that little kick in the butt that I need. I even bought the book like a month ago and I still haven't completely read it. I read the first chapter and it has so many good ideas in it already. I'm excited. So I'm excited to be doing this video. Can't wait to meet you.
Bye. And then Lala, are you excited?
Because I'm excited. And I'm excited because I'm in my second do the Thing challenge now. I am actually joining the.
Wonderful two hour cocktail party. I've never thought about doing that. I was in the last challenge and I grew so much and I'm super excited about this now. I've been traveling, I've been trying to get myself together, but I'm getting more and more excited as the 25th starts. So if you haven't downloaded your challenge and you put up your promise to do it, do it today. Because guess what? You're going to grow. You're going to meet new people. You're to going, you're going to thrive in this environment. And I'm excited to meet you. If I haven't met you already, let's do this. Let's do it.
So good. So post your pledge. Let me go back here. Here we go. Okay, so now we're talking about the dares. Did I show you how to do them? Let me see if I showed you. Okay, we talked about that. I saw you guys all did that. So just make sure if anyone's watching this on recording, we will. I'll post the dares in the group tonight so then you can see.
You can see the jot form since it'll be harder because it'll be in the comments. So I'll put it with the actual dare. But we want you to, if you're going to put your part, if you, whatever date you're doing your party, put it on the job form, which is just a survey kind of form that we're going to have you fill out. But for those of you that do it between the 16th and the 22nd, we'll be celebrating all of those parties together. And so we're going to have you pick the date for your party. This is the jot form. Okay, here we go. This is what I want to show you how to post. So throughout the challenges, there's going to be dares, there's going to be bonuses, bonus stairs, and you're going to post using hashtag dare1. So I'm going to be basically posting a dare in the group. You'll see it under featured and then you're going to either post your response to the dare, either with audio or video or just typing it. And so I'll show you an example. And then you can also do a Facebook Live. So you're basically when I say like, you know, pick your date for your party, do the job form, you can just do that, right? Like you can just do the date and you could do the job form, but the A and the do the thing formula, I'm game is accountability. And so it really helps people if you just get on a quick video or you type in, hey, I did it, I'm good. You know, like, I've got it. I'm so excited and say something because what happens is the momentum of you guys doing this thing together, this scary thing for some of you. And for some of you, it's not scary, it's like old hat. And so the combination of all the people doing it is going to what's going to be to help the group. And so you can also, if you're influencer or something like that, you could do a live on another platform and then you can share it in the groups. So we're actually. You're even able to share your social media in the group as well, which is kind of cool. We're also going to be giving you community bonus dares. So even though it's this challenge is specifically laid out based on Nick's formula and the do the thing formula, if there's something related to the party challenge that you guys want to be dared on, we're going to do a bonus dare. So it'll be a poll in the group that we do and then we'll pick it during these live meetings. And then Nick mentioned this one. And just remember, this is the most I'm going to give you at one time. I'm just. And everything's going to be posted in the group later. But I, I just want to make sure you guys know there's just a cut and I'm going to recap it at the end. There's just a few key things I want to make sure you do this week. Everything else won't be as like much. It'll be a lot more minimal. But this week also, you're going to ask your core group if the date you picked is good. I actually did the. On his book, chapter 6, 6, page 84, he has an invitation scripts and it basically anyone in your core group. So for those of you that have like a best friend or a neighbor that you're always helping or someone that you really want to have at your party, like for me it was my boyfriends in my core group. And then those are people that you would say, hey, Derek, I'm thinking of hosting a little cocktail party on Wednesday the 8th at 7pm If I do it, would you come? Can I send you more info? And so that's like an example of an invitation script. And then you don't do the page yet or anything. You just do that quick text. As soon as you get your five people that say yes, that's when you do all the other stuff. But again, we're not doing that yet. This week we're just focused on you reading chapter one, you picking your date and then you asking your core group as well. Oh, I put the invitation script in here. Okay. And then we also have a help forum. If you guys are lost or confused or anything during this challenge, we want to help you, support you. This is completely supported by my team. I have an amazing back end cousin of mine, Randy, who is just really good with all the back end stuff and front end as well. She comes on and says hi. She was actually in our 200th anniversary celebration, so you'll see her sometimes as well. But feel free to fill out this help form and we'd love to help you as well. And then just to give you guys an idea, we love to give out the do the thing swag and so take a picture if you ever get swag. And then we like to share it. And then these. We do have a do the thing champion at the end of the challenge. So the person that is voted on. There's people that get voted on by the survey at the end and then that's where we get our award winners and our champions as well. And so after you learn how to host with Nick's formula, you're going to be more confident, get more friends. You can also use this party framework to help if let's say you write a book or you have a podcast or you want to, you have a business. I saw Neil mentioned earlier that he just is starting a dog e commerce brand. So when you are promoting a new product, you could do a launch party for your product. You can actually, once you've done this and you learn the this formula, you can go to your company and you can say, hey, I can host a two hour cocktail party at the company. It's a really cool way to connect people together and so you could change up your themes. I mentioned earlier, I did my second party as an improv party. So instead of Icebreakers, I did little improv exercises just because that's what I was into at the time and it was a fun way for me to teach people improv. And so you could change up the themes for this party. We're following it by the book, but just to kind of open your mind up to down the road. Okay, I'm recapping everything. So let's say you missed everything else. You guys, this is the slide to pay attention to. So so far, posting your pledge. I am doing this challenge. Why am I doing it? What are your excuses and how will you overcome them? Read chapter one. Pick the date of your power party, fill out the jot form and tell us the date. And then ask your core group if the date you picked up is good. So today is Monday. So this is what I want you guys to do before next Monday. So these six things is what I'm looking for you to do before next Monday. And then I have that I'm going to be putting this in the group later which is just repeating the same thing. And then, oh, I thought I would share this. I had a friend of mine had her party. She had a birthday party. Not a two hour cocktail party. She just had a birthday party at a restaurant. Really beautiful restaurant. And like the morning of she asked me this question and she basically was like, can I ask you a huge favor? Kind of last minute, no pressure. Can I put you in charge of table topics and conversation flow? Maybe bring a few cards. There's about eight of us, so some meaningful topics or quotes for us to ponder. And I love that she thought of me for this. And it's because she went to both of my. To our cocktail parties, you know. And so anyway, it just kind of shows people that you are someone that can do that. And then, Madeline, this wasn't about the. To our cocktail parties specifically, but just talking about parties in general. I just wanted to share this as well.
I used to have a lot of cocktail parties, salons, we called them creative salons, where we. One day every month we'd have a group of people and they could invite friends to come and share their creative activity. If they were writing. If they were writing poetry or stories or painting or sculpting or researching a project for. For a movie, we would just kind of all get together and meet everybody's friends. And it was a way to expand our networks and share skills, and it was never planned, so.
Good. And so she's talking about how, like, she's to the point where she doesn't have to plan a party. She can just do it. Right. But you can't really get there until that point, until you get confident with being able to do something. And that's what I love about his formula, is the more you learn how to do it and the easier it becomes and you get more confident, and then you can kind of accept. Expand it to whatever you want. And then Nick's team actually gave us 10 books, which was amazing. And we gave those out. I think Ash said she mailed them yesterday. And so the winners, seven of the winners, we're still contacting three of them, but Carolyn, French, Frances, Franisha, Jocelyn, April, and then Elle and Terry. So congratulations. And I pulled this from Nick's YouTube channel, just showing, like, all the different kinds of party ideas, like book swaps and office parties and mocktails, parents party clothing, SOPs. So it's just exciting when you have this opportunity to be able to learn. I'm going to show you this. This is actually super important. Let me go on. Let me see if you guys can see my screen in a minute. Here we go. Okay, cool. I'm going to go in the challenge group.
As well. Hold on a second. Okay, so there's the featured tab here. And this is where we're going to be putting, like, anything that is basically like the dares. And then we also have everything on this link. So Randy will put this link in the comments. This is where all the dares that we're giving you and the events are going to be updated. And so we have resources for you here. We have the event calendar and the link to Nick's site and these are all the event dates and then these are all the dares that we have given so far. And for those of you that are worried about not having people come to your party, you don't have people to invite. This is something I specifically love to help people with, is helping them break out of their own comfort circle for being able to invite people to your party. So we're going to go through those strategies when it comes to being able to invite everyone. And so anyway, this is where I'm going to be adding all of the dares as well. Okay. So. Oh my gosh. I think.
I think that is it. All right, so any questions on all of that? Normally this is the most I'm going to give you guys in one time and we are going to be in the group. We're not leaving. You have the questions, Jotform, you could fill out. If you have any questions, I'd love to help support you with that. Definitely get his book. That's going to be a game changer. You pretty much wouldn't need the do the Thing challenge. His book has everything that you guys need in here. His website has everything. His YouTube has everything. But I wanted to do a challenge around it because sometimes when people want to do something but it might be just scary or timing or whatever it is, it's just more fun to do it with other people that want to do it too. And so I just thought it'd be fun for us all to just support you through this challenge and be able to do it. Like I mentioned, his team's also going to be helping as well. They've been really supportive throughout it. So it's just exciting to be able to work with someone that's really just wanting people to host a two hour cocktail party. Like, how cool is that? So I'm super excited to do this with you guys. Let me just make sure I. Oh, your neighbors. So someone's neighbors brought them a plant and you were socially awkward. So I've been avoiding them. So that's perfect opportunity to invite them to your party. I, I mentioned this earlier.
That it's fun to be able to invite people that, you know, maybe you don't normally like, see, you know, and so like, like, as you're walking through your day, just kind of note who those people are, you know, and then once you start inviting, we'll get to the point where you're inviting people right now. You're just inviting your core group. You'll, you'll Start to notice who those people are and that will be something that you could do if you want to invite them. Just remember the first party you're only gonna have 15 to 20 people at. So just keep that in mind. So for now, just write down who those people are if you want. If you're kind of already needing to get there. And then next week is when we're gonna get into that as well. So this week, like I said, the main focus is picking the date, getting the book, and then the core five people mentioning that to them that you want to invite them again. It's just. Hey, Derek, I'm thinking of hosting a little cocktail party on Wednesday the 8th at 7. If I do, would you come? Can I send you more details? So right now you're just confirming your date. So amazing. Well, thanks so much, you guys. I'm so excited to do this with you. We are going to be here in the group. I'm gonna. Okay, I saw, I don't know, 15 to 20 people. We will help you with that. So for now, just focus on the five people that are closest to you.
That you are going to, that you want to be there. And then we'll help you. Next week is when we're going to get to focus on who is going to be at your party. And then I just saw a comment. We will. Will we be talking about decorations? We will. He actually doesn't.
He actually doesn't recommend like a whole bunch of decorations. He gives specific strategies for like a welcome sign and things like that. And it's perfect. That's all you need for this kind of party. So what it is, you guys, it's focused on like, connection and not the show. And so it's like, it's this magical experience that you get to have with people without all the fluff. Like you're able to just focus on like you being human and them being human. And it's just an amazing way to be able to connect people together. So I am excited. And then. Cool, I see that. I'm excited. That's great. And then would a bonfire cocktail party, the beach be okay, being that the first party is chill? Yeah. Like he mentions, you know, he prefers it at the house.
I'll make a note of that question because I'm actually not sure on the answer to that, but I will definitely. I'll. I'll. I'll look into that for sure. That's a great question. So, yeah. Wonderful. Well, thanks, you guys. I'm really excited. I'll post everything that I just talked about in the group. So that way, if you missed anything, you'll be able to just kind of, like, look at the post and see it. And like I said, this is the most information I'm gonna give on one call. Everything else from here. The next week, we do this. We're gonna go through award winners and then just recapping your week and talk through any issues that you guys might be having. So I'm really excited to do this with you. All right, you guys have a wonderful evening. And do the thing. Don't wait for opportunity. Create it. Bye, guys.
