A short spoken reflection by Stacey Lauren about realizing she built her "Do the Thing" work in private rather than public. She describes sharing a recent stand-up performance with her private community, how a podcast and private Facebook group helped her rediscover and amplify her voice, and closes with encouragement to take a small step toward action.
So I shared about my stand up comedy performance that I did last night, and something kind of really interesting happened where I realized I've been telling people the whole time that I built do the Thing in public, because everything that I've done with do the Thing has really come very, like, naturally. And I want to even say effortlessly.
Even though there's been many times of me getting out of my comfort zone and doing new things, but it's just felt right the whole time. And what I realized was because I shared my comedy performance this time before I did it, normally I share it after I've already done it. And I actually don't even really share it on my personal page. I share it in my private group. I realized that I've actually built do the Thing in private, not in public. So.
I really was private person for so many years. Very, like, stifled and just kind of not putting myself out there at all. Kept within the confines of my business and my family. And then I guess it just started with the podcast, you know, and then the private Facebook group. And that's what got me to start to feel more confident with, like, the things that I would say and how it could impact people. And, like, by people seeing what I did, it got them to be inspired and then get them to take action. And the more I got to see that, the more, I don't know if the word is comfortable, but uncomfortable, getting to go to the next step and kind of making it more public. So it's almost like the private community helped me, like, kind of rediscover my voice, you know, find my voice, get connected to my voice, and then now I'm in the way that I'm able to amplify it. And so it's been kind of interesting just in the last day being able to reflect on that because, yeah, it's really cool when you get to tap into your purpose, into what, you know, you're being called to do, and then you get to just keep going. So I just encourage you guys to just take one step. It could be the smallest step, but just take that step and then see where it goes. All right, Have a good day. Do the thing. Don't wait for opportunity, create it.
