Testing Instagram LIVE with Restream

A recorded YouTube livestream led by Stacey Lauren (host of the Do the Thing community) with Randy and guest Julie Pershing. The group tests Restream multistreaming (troubleshooting Instagram output), describes ongoing Do the Thing challenges (Go Live, Get Fit, Start a Book, Find Your Voice) and how dares push members from surface-level to deeper action. Guest Julie Pershing (author and book-writing coach) describes her services, an upcoming masterclass (part of an "Info Stack" bundle), and publishing company; participants emphasize showing up imperfectly to inspire others. The session mixes technical troubleshooting, community coaching, and potential collaboration introductions.

Hey.
And we are live. So we are testing the Restream. Whatever that's called, Restream platform. And we are testing it on Instagram today. We did this a few days ago, and we tested it on YouTube live, and then we tested it on LinkedIn and also in the do the Thing group. So today we decided. I did this, like, workaround last night, and I think it's live on Instagram. Can you see us? You can't see us.
Okay, well, it's weird because it says it is. We'll take a minute.
Let me switch to my other account and see.
Okay, I'll take a look too, because it's okay. We can take a minute to see if it's working.
Yeah. My other feed either.
Okay. I think I'll check the Facebook group and see if we're live in there.
I think we. We are, because I got a notice that we were.
Oh, cool. See? Oh, yeah, I see us in there. Very cool. Oh, look at us. I love our ticker. Thanks to Vicki Nevins. She did this with me yesterday and really helped, you know, basically give some pointers on Restream, which was really cool after the meeting we did with Kristoff, where he was the one that got us into it. And so isn't that cool? It's like, we're almost, like, learning. I think this is the first. Like, normally when we run a challenge, we're learning. Like.
Almost like we get. We get. We. Other challenges are born from a current challenge, but with this Go Live challenge, we're really learning, like, going live because it's not something we did other than Facebook.
Yeah. You know, I feel like on the other challenges, we learn from what others are doing. We're learning things, you know, that make people tick. Where this one, we're actually doing and participating in something that we're just experimenting with, which is really exciting.
Yeah. And just for context, because we are. I Forgot we're on YouTube right now. Yay. Hey, YouTube.
So I'll just introduce myself for people that maybe don't know who we are, but. So this is basically do the Thing, and I'm Stacy Lauren. I'm the host of the do the Thing podcast. And then the Run the Community, both the singles community, and then the regular group, and we run just different challenges inside the group. And. And my cousin Randy, who is All Things do the Thing, also is a cto. She does all the back end and now is getting into the front end, I should say.
Oh, gosh.
And you've been living.
And I Think it's perfect that you're here because you even did your first Facebook Live in the group today, Both groups today. And I think to me, like, that's like the sign that it's working, right? It's like getting you to, like, really do the thing, you know, because you're seeing. You see, you texted me something this morning that I just loved. Like, seeing everyone else rise, it's like.
It's like almost contradictory if I don't do it. You know what I mean? Because I'm watching everybody's growth. It's easy for me to come on with you, but, you know, just getting me to just like, okay, just share my life by myself without any context, it was great and it was really freeing. And I guess I have a lot to say that I didn't know. I had a lot to say, you know?
Totally. I think that's people's biggest thing, and I think I mentioned it yesterday in the Instagram live. I did. It's like every time when I have them on my podcast, I do a street interview. I'm interviewing someone in the group. It's always like, what do I have to say that anyone would want to hear? And it doesn't matter who it is. Like, it could be a CEO that just sold a $30 million business that I've interviewed, you know, or somebody that is professional job and just wants to make a change. They all. Everyone kind of wonders the same thing, you know, and so it's just like being able to do it move and then you sort of see the impact you're having, you know, and then also you're able to activate your voice, which gets you to move even more, I think.
Exactly. Like finding your voice, you know, and we're working on that as well, you know, finding your voice and doing the things that are going to enable you to. To own what you want to say and just say it, which I love. So, you know, we can segue into that if you want.
Yeah. You know, it's. It's so funny because we. We kind of both thought we were crazy when we decided to do, like, pretty much three challenges, like, all at the same time, you know, and you're so good with, like, helping me just, you know.
Little playground. And it's been just like, so much fun, but it's so huge, I feel like. And we won't do this again, I don't think. But, like, by doing it in this moment where we have the Go live challeng in the regular group, we have the get fit challenge in the singles group, and we're beta testing our first on demand challenge.
I for find your voice. I, like, am learning what we're doing now. Like, it's like. I like it, like, clicked. And I don't know if you saw my email yesterday with find your voice, but it's like, we are.
By doing the things that we're doing with, like, the recordings and getting yourself to speak, speak. Like, this isn't about going live. It's not about the podcast. It's not about getting fit. We're getting you to go from, like, your surface level mind to, like, go deeper and then go deeper. And I think I realized it yesterday because I'm doing a video every day, like, live, like, as the challenge. As I'm doing the on demand challenge, I'm, like, doing the video, and then I'm doing the email, and then eventually that will be automated, you know, and so what I realized is if I'm ever stuck, you know, I just basically reverse the dare, you know, so for anyone watching that doesn't know, basically, through the challenges, we do different dares. We just say, I dare you. And it's not like crazy dares. It's like, compliment a stranger or record a voice note and saying, what do you. What are you dreaming about doing? And so yesterday was when I had that epiphany, and I'm like, okay, so if the dare says, like, what are you dreaming of? Then you ask yourself the question, what am I dreaming of? You know, and then you, like, and then you say the answer, and then you ask it again, and then you ask it again. So these dares and these challenges and this voice and this live and the podcast and all these things, it's not about the thing. It's about, like, we're teaching you to go from your surface level, you know, thinking to, like, deeper and go each. Each layer down and to get you what you truly desire. So then you know what you want, and then you know how to ask for it, how to show up for it.
And the one thing I like is sometimes you discover that you didn't even know you really wanted it, you know, until you go through these little dare prompts and really start digging deep also, like, wait a minute. I want this? Or why do I want this? You know, it's. It's kind of fun, right?
Yeah, it's so true. And I think we've seen that, like, with everybody in the group. It's like, Pamela is like, my favorite one with the. Where she's like, I just Joined today. And now I have a podcast.
What?
And then it's, like, not even ending there. Like, the podcast now is, like, the beginning. You know, she wants to do a yearly writers, you know, competition award, and she wants to. She's, like, contacting someone at CNN to be on her podcast. Like, she's, like, moving, and it's like the podcast now is like, it was the ceiling now. That's the floor now. What else is next for her? You know?
And even, like, our grand champion of find your voice, you know, he found his voice, and he found some purpose by helping other people. So it was kind of cool that not only did he find his voice and heal the ins, he's actually helping and giving a purpose to help others. So I really like that story as well.
Oh, we have someone.
I can tell who it is. I'm gonna let you in. Oh, Julie. Oh, yeah.
Julie.
Are you there?
Hello?
Hi, I'm here, but I haven't taken a shower yet, so my camera's off.
No worries. So cool. It's funny, Randy, on the first. What was this? Randy? I remember, like, come on to a live.
Or.
It was the day. Yeah, it was the day after. I, like, so in the group, when we were in the middle of the startup podcast challenge, I felt like people were. And I'm not. I'm not asking you to go turn your camera on, but I'm just. I'm not saying this because of that, but it brings up a really good point. Is, like, people were so, like, the videos that people were sharing were so perfect, you know? So, like, the next day, I, like, wore a shower cap, and then, like, pretty much, like, just came right after the shower, and I did a Facebook Live, and my glasses were, like, still steaming from the water, you know? And then the next day.
Or.
No, it was the day before.
Jumping on a zoom with you just for you and I to talk. I was literally in bed. Okay. I jump on the zoom, and I see all these people, and I left my camera on. I was like, well, I'm here. They've already seen it. You know, it's like, whatever.
Yeah, that was so. Julie, I'm so excited because you're brand new to the community. You just joined, like, during the Go Live challenge.
Yes, I did. And I. And actually, I've been super busy, so I've just been kind of lurking and being like, okay, I need to do these things, but I haven't done them yet.
Yeah, so tell us, because did you join? Did you find us on Instagram or was it through Facebook. Do you remember?
I think it was through Facebook.
Facebook. Okay, cool. Because I'm still figuring out Instagram's still kind of a new kind of like playground, I think.
But.
So tell us, tell us about you.
I am an author and a book writing coach. I help people write nonfiction books and I have a publishing company, so I help them publish them as well. And so I've done a lot of anthology or compilation books, so. And I'm actually getting ready to publish one right now. I'm doing the editing on it, but I work with a lot of first time authors that they want to publish their book, but they just don't know the process. And so right now I'm really busy and I'm almost to the point of hiring a va. So I'm pretty excited about that.
That's amazing. We actually did a do the thing, start a book challenge in the singles group and it's. And we. Pamela Nicholson is also an author, so she is really good at getting people from their head to their heart. But there's been the thing, the piece that I have not had yet that I've been looking for someone that can then help them take it to the shelf, you know, so we're like starting the book, but we need to help now. Bring it to the.
Oh, gotcha. Yeah, Me. Me.
Yeah.
That's awesome.
So what were you. What are you looking to get out of the. The Go Live challenge? Why did you join?
Well, I, I shouldn't keep saying this, but I'm not good at social media and it's not that I'm not good at it. I just don't really take the time for it because I'm. I kind of have an ADHD brain and I have all the things going and so I'm like, oh, I want to do this, I want to do that. And, and then I should really do some social media, but I'll just put that on the back shelf kind of thing. So I want to like, force myself to do it.
So.
So then I'll just start being comfortable doing it.
I love that, like you're flexing the muscle and then through each time you'll get more and more comfortable. Are you the one? Did I see your live yesterday? Did you. Was that, was it yours that I commented on?
No, I haven't done one yet.
Okay, you haven't done one yet? Okay, cool.
Don't feel bad. I've been doing this for a while and I just did my first lives today, so.
Oh, good.
You know what? Like, you're on.
Yeah.
And you're live today. So it's like, yeah, yeah. And I noticed that too, because, like, so this is the first time, like, I'm doing the dares. Normally I just run the dare. I don't normally do them. And I'm doing them in both groups. I'm doing them in the Get Fit challenge and in this one. And for some reason, the Go Live challenge has been easier, maybe because I'm going live so much with the community. So the Get Fit challenge, I noticed how easy it is to be like. And I did a video in the group yesterday about it, but it's so easy to see, say, like, have that all or nothing thinking. Right. Like, oh, I didn't start. No one's gonna notice that I didn't do any. That I didn't do it. And so I just did one live yesterday. And then I fin. I, like, caught myself up, you know, And I think it was cool to see that because I think that's what so many people do. It's like once you miss one dare, and this is not just do the thing related. This is like anything related. Once you miss one thing, it's like, oh, I can't. I can't catch up, but you're here today. But it's like, I think it's such a normal thing for people to, like, decide not to do something because they feel behind, you know?
Yeah. For sure.
That's one of the beauties of our challenges. There are really no rules except for trying. Right. And doing it. You know, you can always catch up. The. The resources are there for you to do. Whenever we have people do it after the challenge, start posting everything. So it's really exciting.
Yeah. And that. And that's what I like about the do the. Because I did the do the Thing podcast, which I haven't done the challenges yet, but I have. I've saved all of it. And I'm like, okay. I. It's so easy, I think, to go back and catch up where with. With other things that I've done. Once you miss something, then you're just kind of out of the water. Yeah. So, yeah, I think this is a lot easier. And I really wasn't expecting to. I didn't know what this was going to be, but I was like, oh, there. What is restream?
Because normally I get up early and I shower and everything. But I mean, like, my hair right now I can't even.
But I don't. I don't normally go on things and not turn my Camera on. I'm usually, you know, participating in there, and I might be kind of quiet and on the sidelines, but I really do like the way these are set up where you can go back and get caught up and see what you've missed and say, okay, I. You know, I still need to do these things. Yeah.
Do you want to do the dare that we have today? We could do it right now together.
What is it?
It's I dare you go live, which you're doing right now, and just talk something about some. Talk about something that is working for you.
Oh, okay. I can do that. So I'm actually creating a masterclass right now. And I created a course last month and it was a really big endeavor, but now that I did that last month when I'm doing this masterclass, I'm just. I feel so good about it, and I'm like, I've got this. I know exactly what I have to do. I know exactly what the steps are. And today I'm going to actually create the video for the class. And then. And everything else is completely done. The video is the only thing I have left to do. And so just the whole process of doing it that first time has just. Everything has just fallen into place. And I mean, it just went so quickly this time.
It's so good when you, like, when you know that just by you doing the thing right and not like worrying about the first one and just flexing the muscle now is helping you actually do it the way that you want it this time. You know, not getting stuck in the perfection of what it was.
Yes, because I'm definitely a get stuck in the perfection type of person. You just called me out and that's why I'm not on camera.
How do you think.
How did you move through that? Because I think that perfectionist is like, that's my favorite person. Because it's just once I can figure out, like, how to, like, do it one little inch, then it like, oh, I did that and I didn't die. Okay, now I can go another one.
Well, for me, it's because I have a deadline and because I was asked to be in something called Info Stack. And so that was my first course was for Info Stack, and I had a hard deadline. And then they contacted me a week ago and said, hey, do you want to be in this the next one coming out? And I said, oh, yeah, when is it? And it. And they only gave me a week. And I. And I wanted. I already had in mind this new master class that I was going to do. And so then you know, here I am. Oh yeah, I can do that. I'll just really quick put this master class together. But so since I have a hard deadline then it's just forcing me to actually do it and get it done and not worry about how perfect it is. So I need those kind of deadlines in my life.
Yeah, that's really good. And then do you think like knowing, was there any part of it where you kind of know what this course is going to do for people now that you have the deadline? Did that help too? Because that's another thing I'm exploring is like when you know who it's going to help by you doing it.
Yes, for sure. Because you know, I do work with a lot of first time authors and my, this masterclass I'm doing is how to build a landing page that you can use like as your mini website. And it's super inexpensive, very cost effective and a lot of first time author or even anybody when, when you're first starting out, you don't have thousands of dollars to pour into a website, but you might not have the, you don't think you have the skills to build your own. And this is super simple. Like you can get it done in, in a couple hours and not even that long if you get everything prepared ahead of time. And so, so I really feel like this exactly what my audience needs because I have so many people say, well, I don't know how to have an online presence because I don't have $6,000 or $4,000 to spend on a website.
You know, it's so cool too. It's like by you even doing the Go Live challenge, you know, now this could be as you start participating, you know, and doing it more and doing this, it's like you're going to now even add more layers, you know, to what you're doing with the, with the authors.
Yeah, for sure. And I, I do when I'm seeing things like this and, and the Go Live challenges, I do get a lot of ideas from those and I'm like, hey, that's something people are talking about. That's something people say they want. And how can I like re. Re fit that to my audience? Definitely.
Have you heard of Shut up and Write yet? They're, they have like so pretty much it's Rennie, the founder, he actually was one of the experts for the do the Thing started a book challenge and they have like a hundred thousand people all across the world actually. They meet at coffee shops, but also Online, and they basically encourage them to shut up and write. And I don't think they're connected to anyone either for publishing books. So if you want to make. I can make an introduction and see if you guys can collaborate on something.
Great. I actually went to a Shut up and write when I used to live in Portland, Oregon, and I went to one, but they were just starting it out, and there was only three people that showed up. I really liked the idea of it, and what I did after that is I have a Facebook group called the Writer Experience. And every Tuesday, we have a co writing session on Zoom. And so we come on, kind of say hi, and then set a timer and write for an hour. And so it's a dedicated writing time, which is very similar, I think, to what Shut up and write does. But it's, you know, like, it's where you're with other people, because writing is pretty solitary. So you're with other people and you're not really engaging, but you're getting things done.
You know, I love that idea because it really follows the, you know, the. The formula principle, because two things. You, you're with my people, right? You're doing something together that everybody's doing, although it's by yourself. And it's also accountability because you put a timer on, so you have that accountability piece where, okay, now I'm here. I need to write for an hour. You know, I love that idea.
Well, and a lot of writers, and I'm very guilty of this. I'll say, oh, I, you know, I'm. I'm writing this book. I, you know, blah, blah, blah. And then I don't take the time to write. Like, I get all these other things on my calendar. And then I keep moving my writing time. And so where I have, you know, this dedicated block of time, I actually write. And so, you know, and I don't push it off to the next day or the next week or never. And then I actually sit down and write and. And I'm looking at my calendar to figure out where can I put in more of this. These writing times, because it helps me along with helping my audience.
Yeah, I just have to really kind of reflect on this do the thing moment right now. So it's just. This is what is so cool about, like, doing the thing. This moment, like, right here is like, last night, I'm messing around, trying to figure out how to connect Restream to Instagram. So then I did a post in the group, and I'm like, who want to see if it Will work. Right. And then I don't think it's working, but that's okay.
And then, Julie, like, you saw the post, you're like, ah, whatever. But you had just woke, not woken up, whatever. You're just still, like, not ready to be on camera. You could have said, oh, I don't want to go because I can't be on camera, so I'm not going to be there. Instead, you showed up. You did what you could do. Right. You did like, the. The you. I think people don't realize that. They're like, if I can't do it exactly how I pictured in my head, you know, then I'm not gonna do it. So you're here, not on camera, which I love you. If you said you were gonna be on camera, you wouldn't have come. Now that we've connected with you and talked directly with you, I'm like thinking of all these things that we could collaborate on with, like, the start of book people that just, like, are. They've got their books going and they don't know what to do, you know, within terms of publishing. And then I'm like, oh, Renny, I could send an introduction email, and who knows what's going to happen with any of these things? But anyway, the idea or you together. Yeah. Connecting you guys together and see what happens. But it's like just by you saying yes, you know, to the do the thing, go live challenge and wanting to be around people who are going live and doing the thing that you want to do and get more comfortable at, and you saying yes to this, it's like, now, who knows what's going to come from this? Which to me is just so freaking exciting.
It is. I love it.
Yeah. And it just shows how, like, I think it's so easy to get caught up with whatever that thing is in our head. Because we could have said like, five minutes in. Oh, it's not working. Let's get off. Okay. See ya. Right, but we're choosing to stay on and just have a fun conversation and get to know each other, which I think also is. Yeah, there's just something really cool about that that I think, like, letting whatever happens happens.
Yeah, for sure. And actually I saw on Facebook that you had started like, nine minutes before I saw it. And so I thought, oh, I'll just go in and just be like the creeper in the background.
And then you totally call me out.
Oh, Julie's here.
I love that. I just think there's so much that I just love about all of this. And it's cool. I'm so glad that you came on because I think. Yeah, I just think you really show me how. How important it is to not get, like, stuck in, like, you know, being like, oh, it's not working, you know, on Instagram and who cares, right? Like, we'll figure it out eventually. And just having people that are open to coming on and at a moment's notice and just being open to whatever is and whatever happens.
And the benefit is, we learned a lot about Julie and what she is and what she does. So that was exciting. You would have never known if you.
Never came on excited, too, because I know in my group, I need to go live more often because I'm trying to get my group back up in my Facebook group more engaged and up and running. And I know that by doing lives, that's what's going to help get it back and running. And so for me, it's just kind of like, okay, you don't dip your toe in the pool. You just need to jump in the pool and get your hair wet.
Totally. And feel free also, like, for flexing the muscle.
If you.
If you're more comfortable starting with just in the do the Thing group. I know a lot of people are doing that when they're not comfortable going, like, on Instagram or other things yet. So feel comfortable doing that. And it's funny, I actually had a big moment on my Instagram Live this morning. I don't know if you saw that, Randy. Like, I know you were on there, but, like, I was, like, still uncomfortable. And then there was, like, a moment when I just started, like, talking, you know, saying, like, I can't read your comments yet. And then I was. I started to talk like me. You know, I realized, like, when I do. When I go live in the do the Thing community, it feels safe because, like, it's a private group. Everyone's there for a reason. They're all supporting me. But then when you go, like, outside of it, it's like.
Yeah, exactly.
I know. I think sometimes when I. Like when I do certain things, I have almost this different Persona. Like, oh, you know, I have to be. I have to act like this. I have to, you know, talk like that. I have to, you know, da, da, da, da, da. And then when I'm myself, it's not like that. And. And I can tell when I see certain videos of me where I'm in that other, like, business kind of Persona, I'm like, oh, my God, who is that girl?
That's so Funny that you say that, because that annoys me for myself, because I'm very animated, and I just want to own who I am. And you either like it or not. I could be the most professional. I've been in corporate before. Or I can just be quirky and just do the things that I love to do and have the people around me that really enjoy being around me. Isn't it all about that in the long run?
Totally. Yeah. And I think there's something so valuable to the people that you want to impact when you are yourself. And we saw this, actually, in the find your voice challenge. Darcy Bolden, she did a dare that, like, blew me away. It was like, I. The nice thing about doing, like, a beta group, it's, like, only 20 people, so I'm, like, really seeing who's participating and who's not participating. And I noticed there was, like, half people really going all in and half that weren't. And so for the people that were going all in, I asked them to encourage the people that weren't yet. Like, what are they getting out of it? And Darcy showed up, and she, like, had just gone out of the shower, I think, and was like. Was she just out of the shower?
She was just not dressed or anything.
And she's like, my. My camera's shaking. That's okay.
You know, like, she was just so.
Nonchalant, and it really made me. I loved it. It was great.
So powerful. And I've seen her. She's, like a very polished. The way she comes off, you know, she's been doing this stuff a while, but that was, like, the first moment I saw her, you know, like, really her. And it was just so, like, a really beautiful moment. And now we're going to be planning. She's going to be a. I'm going to be. Do the thing is going to be a sponsor of a challenge. She's going to run. And that was inspired from that, like, dare, which was really cool.
Very exciting.
Yeah. Well, I'd love to hear, like, just even what you've gotten out of the challenge so far, just even from being the lurker, as you call it, is there anything that you've seen that you feel like is really, you know, good? Like, that's been good for you.
I.
Think, just, you know, watching, you know, lurking and watching other people, like, step up. And then, because I'm kind of sometimes that person that I'll. I'll kind of sit back and kind of take it in, and then I'll do it. But seeing people that aren't the. Sit back and take it in, and they just do it. I think that's kind of helping me. And. And, like, in the background, I'm plotting and planning and preparing things. And so I think it really helps, though, to see people like what you said, you know, not even be ready or showered or whatever, and just, like, jump in and be like, okay, I'm doing this. And so someday, like, honestly, my hair. I can't even today. It's like, half of my hair is sticking up, and half of it's. And my dog laid on my head this morning because she wanted me to get out of bed. Yeah, you're.
You're really speaking to what I really talk about a lot, though, Julie. And I think it's good. It's like, we all have. I'm holding my computer right now because my battery is dying, so I can't do my lines. But we all have this, like, comfort. Hold on. I'm gonna try. We all have this comfort edge, right? And most people, they try to get someone to go from, like, here to here, you know, but they don't realize, like, you could go here. You know, you showing up and thinking you're not. I'm not going to bring you into the room. You know, that was you going here, and then all of a sudden, I let you in, but you didn't get off, because I've done that before. If someone puts me in a breakout Zoom room and I don't feel comfortable, I just get off the.
So that's how I used to be, because I wasn't comfortable with that, like, you know, kind of thing. And so anyway, and I think that. And I learned this, too, in the singles community, because we were doing a dance party in there, but my friend Denise was going to run it, and she had a family emergency. So instead of us doing the dance party, I just did, like. I talked to everybody and I said, if you guys want to join the Zoom, I will dance with you, but I just will not. I am not comfortable, like, running a Zoom, like, dancing. And that was, like, my comfort edge. But then something so freaking cool happened. I saw Fontilla in the group doing a dancing. She did the dancing by herself. And now all of a sudden, I don't know why I'm, like, inspired to do a dancing video.
There's something about that, you know? So I wasn't comfortable then. And I was, like. I was comfortable doing it with someone that was leading it, but not me leading it. But then when I watched her, I'm like, oh, maybe I could do that. And then Mike did it. There was like, a few other people that we saw do it. And it's like that thing you said Randy, with. Like, once you kind of see the other people, then you feel, like, inspired to do it too, right?
Yeah. My first live this morning and I had. My first one was in the challenge group. This group which my dog Kitsune starred in, because I couldn't figure out how to turn my camera around while I was walking, holding her leash and my water. So then the next one I did was for the get, you know, in the get fit in the singles group. And I was like, I started out, like, I thought my camera was turned and it was like, not. Then I figured out to do it. So then I just started talking and walking, walking and talking, and it was that easy, you know, but if I didn't see other people do it, I wouldn't have been inspired to do it myself. And I. I really did it messy. I mean, I look like, you know, whatever. I didn't care.
That's when I think it's the most inspiring, you know, because then the other people, like, when and someone else sees you show growing up being messy and not perfect, then they are given permission and they're like, okay, well, that's actually something I could do. You know, that's kind of my joke with, like, I. Because I do stand up comedy. And I just did the performance Friday night and I'm like, you know, it's funny. It's like people are like, are you nervous? And I'm like, I'm a little nervous, but if I suck, then I'm just encouraging someone else to do stand up comedy because they're like, oh, she did it. You know, then I can do it too. Or if I'm good, then that's another thing.
I think that's true, though. Like, you see somebody else doing it and like, for me, I'm like, it. It just like puts that in my head, you know, she's doing that. Like, I don't have to be like, imperfection mode all the time. You know, I can just. I can do that, you know, And. And there's been some things that I've stepped into because I've seen other people doing it. And then I think, well, exactly that. Well, she can do it. I can do it. I mean, come on.
Yeah. And I don't think people realize that. It's like, by you not being perfect that actually inspires someone else. Like, I did this too at a. At a. I'm trying to get it. I'm trying to be a TEDx speaker. Like I'm applying for one right now. And so I'm in this like group coaching program and you have to do your one minute application video. And so we were like in a group of, I don't even know, maybe 10 people. And I went first and it was like horrible. I was so bad. It was like so bad, like so bad that they all were like staring at me. And then I was like, you know what, you guys? I just wanted to create the space because no one would go right. Like no one wanted to go first, you know, And I'm like, I just wanted to create the space for you all to just be able to do it and like not worry about how it looked.
You know, you're like, you know, honestly, I did that on purpose.
Just to show you that's what I should start doing.
No.
Oh my God. Well, this been so much fun. I like really, I really, really, really appreciate you coming on and just showing up and being able to do the thing because I think this was a, a big step and I'm excited. We could like play this video back when we decide to like partner on something. You know, this is like the moment that like it came from, like do the thing, publish your book or whatever we end up doing.
Yeah. And we failed at Instagram. But that's okay.
We'll figure it out. Oh, before we go, Julie, why don't you share with people if they want to, to do your master class or any kind of way to connect with you? That would be great.
Sure. So my email is hellopershing.com and it. So it's H E L L O at J-U L I E P-E-R-S H-I-N-G.com and my website is juliepershing.com and my publishing company website is Gallivant.
Oh, I like that. And can you remind everyone the master class and when that is and if you have any details on joining that as well?
Yes. So the master class is actually going out as part of an info stack. So it's a really good deal because it's normally going to be $147 but the info stack, I think the whole stack like $49 and then you'll get access to a lot of things for. It's a non fiction writers info stack so that's the best deal. And it goes out on Tuesday. So if you're not on my email list, if, if people want to email me I can get them out, the emails for the info stack, and then I'll have that class available on my website. But really, the best deal will be go through the info stack and so they can email me at hello, Julie. Juliepershing.com to get added to that.
Okay, cool. And just so you guys know, I just figured out how to. How to look at. To see who's viewing, and there's someone viewing us on YouTube live right now.
Wait.
Say hi. Hi, YouTube.
I'm waving.
You can't see, but I'm.
If you comment, we'll say hi to you. No pressure.
Yeah, that's cool. It sounds like an amazing. It sounds like an amazing program. I'm excited to. Yeah, I'm excited to check it out for sure and then see what comes from it. I'm gonna. Before we end, if you guys are okay, I just want to. So it might end abruptly, and if it does, then have a great day. But while we're on, I just want to see that connection with Restream and see why the Instagram thing isn't showing. Oh, and Julie, in case. Because I think you mentioned this at the beginning, I didn't tell you is so Restream. What it does is it helps. It really helps you with your content because instead of having to post to Instagram and then YouTube and then LinkedIn and then Facebook groups, it like, you just go live on Restream and then you pick what groups you want to do it with, so you're doing it all at the same time. So to me, it's like the coolest freaking thing because, like, how do you keep up with everything? You know, it's really hard. And now it's like you could just go live on whatever you want.
I love that because it seems like there's just so many steps to everything. And I really look at things that help me to. To do exactly that. Like, push it out to multiple things and not have to be, you know, remember, oh, I have to do this and this and this. Like, just have one thing that pushes it out. That's great.
Totally. And because it's live, it gets you out of perfection. Because it's like, okay, well.
It is what it is because, like, no one cares. Like, you have this picture in your mind what you want to look like or be like, but they don't. They don't care. Like, we do. You know, it's like, it's just this thing in our head that's this, like, story of something that doesn't even exist.
Yeah. Yeah.
Adding on to that they care about what you're saying and, and. And the information or the conversation that you're having, that's really what they care about. They're not going to be like, oh, my God, that hair is out of place, or, oh, my gosh, you know, like, you know. Yeah, broccoli in your. Well, broccoli in your teeth is a little bit different, but you know what I mean?
So good. Okay, guys, I'm gonna check the Instagram right now. So if we end. It was great talking to you.
Yeah, let's try to get on to Instagram.
Yeah, I'm gonna look at it to see what is going on.
Okay. So I see LinkedIn is not checked, which I did not want, but I just say, oh, you know what? I wonder if you can see my screen. I'm gonna share it and then.
Yeah, okay, we'll see if we could.
Figure it out together.
Oh, I could do entire screen. Entire screen. Okay, so here we are. This is so fun. Okay, so here's Instagram. Here, your channels. Can you see me?
Okay?
Yeah.
Okay, so this is YouTube right there. So that's checked. This is Facebook. The do the Thing challenge group. That's checked. And see how this says it. Says it. Oh, title setup. But that meant, like, it doesn't have a title, but it's checked.
See?
So, yeah, we'll have to play around. Oh, I'm gonna click on this. This might end us, but we'll see.
Are you ready? Okay.
Instagram.
Huh?
Let me see if we're on.
We're not. I checked with my daughter. Yeah, it's weird. Yeah, we'll have to. We'll have to play around with it.
More, I guess.
Today. If you want. Just Instagram. You want to play around with it?
I'm actually going to a TEDx talk. I'm so excited because, you know, it's something I've been wanting to do. Huh? Yeah, because I'm going to, like, as a guest to see the speakers. Yeah. That's why I'm actually wearing, like, clothes today.
Normally, I have.
Workout. Workout clothes on.
Yeah.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, last thing. So you, each of us will just share what's coming alive for you after this conversation today. How about you start Randy?
Okay, so what's coming live for me is that I have no heebie. Jeebies going live with. Did I freeze? I think I froze.
No.
Okay, great. So I have no heebie going live with other people.
And by doing this, I would have never learned anything about Julie and The wonderful things she's doing and seeing her do number one, her first stare, even though you did live without even thinking about it, even though it's out of sequence, you still did it. It's great. So this is good. And just look at what this can do. We're live on a bunch of different platforms at once and we're having a great conversation just so naturally, without the perfection. It's awesome. Yes.
And how about you, Julie?
So for me, showing up to something and thinking that you're going to be in the background and not. Is amazing because we did have a really good conversation. And, you know, it does, like, help your comfort zone. And so.
Sometime, not today, I might go on camera when I'm not showered yet.
Well, technically you could do it for the dare. That was yesterday, which was the. Go for a walk and go live at the same time.
Oh, okay, I could do that. Except it's 118 here today, so I might not go for a walk, but maybe I'll go out by the pool.
There you go. Yeah, go for a walk as you're jumping in the pool, right?
Exactly. Oh, my God.
Gosh.
Yeah. For me, it's like this moment of, like, I, like, love everything about this where your camera's not on and. Because I didn't even know that you could have a camera not on for restream, honestly. So that's like a learning, but that's like a cool thing. And like, seeing you go to that, like, first layer, you know, of just being here and showing up and like this amazing conversation that was able to, you know, come from you just being, you know, having the courage to do that and then being able to, like, see what's next. And I think so many people are like. They think they have to. Where I was going with that thing earlier, sorry, now I have to hold my computer is. They think they have to go here, you know, and it's like, just go here and then when you go here, then you can go here and that's where those micro steps really, like, push through. So I'm just super excited just about, like, people seeing that, how important that is, you know, to be able to just make that little. The little stuff that you could do. And then that's when the next thing opens up. And then the next thing.
Yeah, for sure. So.
All right, ladies, we'll have a wonderful Sunday. And for those of you. Oh, my gosh. We have another YouTube watcher.
Awesome.
For those of you that were joining or those of you that see it on recording, don't forget to do the thing. And don't wait for opportunity. Create it. Actually, let's do it together. I'll have you guys say. I'm gonna have you guys say, create it. Okay. At the end. So I'm gonna say do the things and wait for opportunity, and then you'll do create it. Is that okay?
Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Do the thing. Don't wait for opportunity.
Create it.
All right. Have a great day. This was so fun.
