Hey, everyone. Okay. Welcome to the Not yet do the Thing Start a Podcast challenge. We are starting officially April 17, but with all people would do the thing. Once you make the decision to start something, it's so hard to wait because you're excited about doing the thing. And so, so many questions come up. So many things actually come from this to be able to really know that once you've been wanting to do something and then you get the chance to do it. And so I didn't want to have you guys wait. So I figured we would do this mini zoom, get us started. We could get the people that are on this call set up on your podcast today if you would like. And. And then for those of you that are watching the recording can also get it set up after the fact. And then those of you that want to wait, you can wait to the official challenge starts. We do have the tech setup happening in week two, and so I do see Pamela here. Hey, Pamela, do you mind? We didn't talk about this ahead of time, but since you're here. Pamela's been a Do the thing. She's been part of our community a few times now, and actually she co hosted a challenge in the singles community that we have for starting a book. And so are you. Are you there? Yeah, hold on a second.
Yeah. Yes, I'm here. Well, do you mind sharing with them? Because I think most everyone here. I see Norma's here, so she's. She's a repeat. She's a Do the Thing challenge participant also. But do you mind just sharing them, kind of like what the challenges are like for you from someone that's been through it a few times and now you even co hosted the last one with me. Yes, it is excellent. It's a great group. You're going to learn a lot about other people. You're going to learn a lot about yourself. You're going to find out that you could do things that you didn't think you could do, and then you're going to get a podcast to boot. It's just really great. I came in expecting one thing, and I've met friends here, and I feel like I talk to Stacy every other day, it seems like, but it's just a great group. And I thought I was going to sneak in and see what was going on, but.
It'S a great group. You're going to. You just. I just can't say enough good things about it. It's a great group. Thank you. Yeah, it's cool because. So this is a brand new Group. We've been working out of the singles community for the last six months, and so do the Thing as a year old, but we just started doing challenges six months ago, and this is the first startup podcast challenge, but it's been something I've been wanting to do for a while, so I've done other challenges pretty much leading up to this challenge, and so I'd love to start off. Yeah, this is a great. I think this is a perfect amount of people for us to do this with. Why don't we just start off and have you guys just introduce yourselves for those of you that are comfortable and just kind of share why you're here and what you're looking to get out of the challenge, and. And then we'll get right into the tech setup. How about we start with you, Linda?
Okay, well, my name's Linda, and as my zoom name says, I am the sleepless genealogist. So I do genealogy, researching people's family history, and so I want to start a podcast to just share the knowledge that I have after doing this for 45 years. I started when I was 20, too.
I like that. Amazing. And then Randy. So Randy's my cousin, and she's also my cto, among many other things. And she also is an active do the Thing challenge participant in the program. But I'd love you just to share about you a little bit more, too. So I'm Randy. Hey, everyone. I'm just really loving and. Welcome. Welcome, everybody, to the do the Thing community. It's a community that you're absolutely going to love. Not only are you going to come out with a good skill, but you'll have some personal growth along the way and learn things that you probably never even thought you wanted. So it's really exciting to have you here because I have had that, and I love what Pamela had said. If she could share that one time she came in for one thing, and now she has a podcast. It was like. So it was kind of really nice to do, and that's what happened here. There's no judgment. Everybody so supportive. We're here to support each other in a safe and fun environment. So welcome. And I'm excited because I'm a little out of my comfort zone doing this. I want to do it, but I'm going to be pushed to do it. So here we go. And then, Andrew, how about you?
All right. Had to unmute myself there. Hi, I'm Andrew Paletto. I have had a podcast for a long time called Top Fitness Strategies Presents. It's a fitness over 50 type thing. I started a new one recently and it's called Popcorn and Whiskey. It's all about stuff I want to talk about. It's off the cuff. So what I'm wanting to find out is I have been horrible at marketing everything. I don't know how to market podcast properly. So that's one of the things I want to gain from here. And second, all the technical stuff that people know because I just do things together myself and I don't know if I even got it right. I don't even know if I said, if you can hear me right now, I have no clue. I know that. Turn on the microphone and I think we'll see. So I hope to gain a lot from the guys and looking forward to it. That's great. That's great. And Norris, I sort of introduced you but I didn't talk about what you do. So why don't you share about you? Oh, yes, thank you. So I am a father of three. My youngest is one. And then I got a four and an eight year old. I also quit my finance job. My whole background was in finance, from taxes to investments. And when my son was born, I was like, how much is childcare? Are you serious? What? So I'm like, you know what, I can always make more money. I got one shot at being a dad. So with the help of my martial arts instructor, I opened up a micro bakery out of my home. This is before COVID hit, so before baking was cool, right? And I've been baking sourdough bread for about five years now. And I've teamed up with a farmer in Valley center here and I've been collecting heirloom seeds of wheat for like, I would say eight years. So we planted them all this year and they're growing. I'm super excited to really get the word out and just debunk some myths about gluten, about the reactions people having, why bread is awesome, why sourdough bread is even better. And really because our, our society doesn't have any good sources of carbs and you need that carb source for that long term energy. I mean, I imagine back at, back in the day, everyone knew that if you're going to be running a marathon, you're going to need a car above, right? So the runners were eating spaghetti, potatoes, what have you. But we're kind of, we don't really have that source anymore. Or it's a clean source. Right. Everything's got preservatives. I call them chemical cocktails. Right. They Just gum up. That works. And then there's really no nutritional value there. So I'm super excited that Stacy created this challenge because I am looking similar to Andrew. That whole technical skill of. I've heard about podcasts. I know people listen to podcasts, but I have no other understanding of podcasts really. How to host it, how to record it, etc, and how to market it. So thank you. So cool. And I just shared Norris did a episode with me if you want to hear his full story. It's really cool. It's episode. I did the link, but I think it's like 32 or 30. Oh, 33. Episode 33 on my blue. So super. Okay, great. And then. Oh, I wanted to stop for a minute and speak to the people that are watching this on recording because this could be scary. You guys are listening to people that all know exactly what they're doing their podcast on. And I know there's a lot of people that are coming in that have no idea what you want to do it on, and that is totally fine. This challenge is going to also. I'm going to actually, when the way I do the challenges, I'm able to meet you guys exactly where you are. I know people. That's my specialty is I'm able to help meet them exactly where they are and then get them to be able to move just a little bit so then they can. They can continue on. So for those of you listening, if you have no idea what you're doing and what you're even. Why you even joined, it's going to be fine. And we'll be able to help you throughout the challenge. And that's why we're doing this pre challenge with you guys, because you have a clear idea. And we'll be able to set up your podcast probably within 15 minutes once we kind of get started on that. So, yeah, Melissa, I'd love you to share about you. Okay. Can you hear me okay? Yes. You're great. Okay. Well, I used to work in radio years ago, and I miss being on air. And for the longest time, I've always had an idea for an amazing talk show. Now that podcast is available, I decided to try and develop it into a podcast instead. And so what I've always wanted to do was a kind of like a teen parent talk show type of podcast.
Where I would talk about different subjects and have different teens on talking about the subjects from grief. With all the school shootings and stuff like that, it's like a kid's perspective of what they're feeling what they feel, what their opinions and their thoughts about and sexuality, talking about pregnancies and, and then some lighter subjects like prom. What, what to, what do they think of their pro when talking about prom time in semi formals and, and try to kind of, in hopes that whoever is listening out there who might be going through like a pregnancy and not knowing where to go to get information or how to even tell their parents that they're pregnant in hopes that they get an idea and get some.
Support, basically.
And I've had this idea for over 20 years. That's how long I've been trying to get this off the ground. And every radio shop, every radio station I've ever worked at, they would always tell me, oh, that's a great idea, but I don't know if it would fly with our station. And, and then I've pitched it to parents in different markets that I've worked at over the years and they've all said, oh my God, I would so tune into that. And same with the kids, they'd be like, oh, yeah, I'd definitely tune into something like that. And so, so that's my main reason why I wanted to join this and to get this off the ground finally.
And stuff. So, yeah, and it's great. Remind me. Connect with me after my email. Stacey at stacey do the thingformula.com and we the podcast platform that the. But the one that I'm going to be teaching you guys to use your podcast on, it's called Callcast. And the platform just got selected by the Boys and Girls Club to be the podcast platform for all their clubs. And one of the things I'm doing is I'm integrating the do the Thing formula, which we'll get into during the challenge. I don't think we'll have time to talk about it today, but I'm integrating the formula into their. The them learning the podcast. And so this challenge is actually going to be used as almost like a guinea pig for them to help these kids create podcast platforms. But in the meantime, I think it'd be really cool to connect you to the founder who has contact with all these teenagers through the boys club. So that might be. And I'm, I'm highlighting this for all of you because I want you to see how easy it is once you share what you want to do. All of a sudden you're seeing someone else. Has someone, oh, I know this person. Oh, actually this person. And this is the kind of thing you all know people and I want you to be thinking of this as you're hearing people share their stories, because this really is magical to be in this space with people that want to do the same thing as you. And this is where a lot of these exciting things really can, once you're able to make those connection points. So good. Yeah. Thank you for sharing. I'm really excited you guys are. So many good things are happening here. And then, Karen, I'd love to hear from you. Hi. Thanks. My name is Karen. Yeah, I'm excited to be here. I was supposed to. I think you were going to do like a. But you did like a sort of beta challenge. And I went to like one episode, one of these, and then I just got busy. I had a crazy work quarter, but it's over.
So. Yeah, I actually am really excited because I've been wanting to start a podcast forever and I've always been kind of just nervous about the technical things, like I don't know how to edit something. I don't know, I don't even know how to begin to get on platforms, those kinds of things, or how to market it. And the idea I have comes from my work. I own a. I'm a psychotherapist and I own a small private practice. And the people that we work with tend to. Well, who we market to and who our clients are are often folks who are usually people who've never been in therapy before or people like people folks of color or folks like trans folks or folks who.
His like generationally don't go to therapy. And what happens is like a lot of times I keep hearing the same stories over and over again. Mainly.
Brown and black women being told that they're too heavy when they're not by doctors or having their health dismissed. Like, you know, I have a head like, you know, a Latina comes in with a headache and it's, oh, you just have too much stress. But other people come, go into a doctor and they get taken more seriously. And so I want to do a podcast looking at health for bipoc women and looking at specifically like first of, like my. The first one I want to do is what is a healthy BMI for us? Because we weigh more, we're curvier and really talk about that. To talk about what do you say to a doctor when they're not taking you seriously? And also kind of move on to just different kinds of health topics, mental health, you know, because there's all sorts of myths, like all sorts of things that don't get understood regarding. For bipoc folks around, even mental Health. And so I don't know. I'm having all of these. I want to get guests on there to really talk about all of these things. I feel like I've got like 20 different things that I want to talk about, but I need a tools for how to do it. Also accountability. Because life gets in the way. Work gets in. Like, you know, I get. I have like 28 things that I do all at once, all the time. Because I run. I run a business too, and I see a caseload of 20 people every week and I need like some structure around it. So actually one of the things that I was going to ask is I have a class that I attend on Monday nights that I was. That I was not going to take it this. This quarter. And then I was like, no, I really like it. It's important to me. And so I was like, all right, I'm going to do it. I can make this work. The issue is it's at 7:30 on Mondays and I need somebody to like. I need somebody to like, almost like ask me if I watch the. If I watch this video. Like an accountability person. I need some accountability. Does anyone here want to partner up with Karen on helping for. With the accountability side? Is anyone looking for like an accountability partner that you guys. Is that what you're looking for? I'm just wondering. Yes. I need to. I need a partner. Boom. Sharon. There you go. Norris is.
Okay. You're. You're Norris, right? Okay. Norris. Yes. Also known as the Kung Fu Maker. Yeah. I'm going to be kicking off at 7:45. I'm going to be late for the first class. I told the teacher already, but I will. I'll message. Are you on Facebook Messenger? Yes. Okay, I'm going to message you right now before I forget. I love that. That's great. And then anyone else that wants to do that, feel free to set that up. And we do have. So the Monday calls are the Facebook lives and that's going to be once the challenge starts. The first one is the most important one because I'm explaining the whole challenge that day and the formula and how we're going to do it. And that's going to be Monday at 5 Pacific Standard Time. But it will be recorded. It is just more fun when you're there in person because you. We're going to have prizes and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, I love that you're going to. Already wanting to make sure you watch it. I think that's such a smart idea for sure. And then Anna, I'd love to hear from you. So, yeah, my name is Anna and I already have a podcast and I started it during the pandemic and you know, after going to YouTube University, learning how to set it up and all that. And it was so much fun and I loved it. But then, you know, consistency is a challenge. And now, and that's when I was a stay home mom and now I have a part time job and it's more difficult. But I am a former children's ministry pastor and my podcast is about, it's called so basic with a little extra because I feel like I'm just a basic girl but with a little extra. And so I just tell stories about things that happened to me and it's just like every day life, but then how God comes in and, and shows up. So, you know, mainly for people that don't know God or know anything about religion or you know, how to why do I go to church or those kind of things.
And so I kind of, like I said, it's stepped out of children's ministry a little bit, but I minister to several leaders and I do coaching and among my job because it has nothing really to do with it, but I really love podcasting. I really love it and I just need to get back into it and really be consistent. And yeah, as Karen said, I need, I need accountability and, and maybe I feel like I have the squirrel syndrome, you know, like, oh, squirrel. Yeah, what was I doing again? Yeah, so I need more like, okay, that's great. This challenge will be really great for that and I'll help set up techniques that will help you be able to continue to keep it going as well. So great. So happy to have you here. Thank you. Thank you. Deneen, would you like to share about you? Hi, can everyone hear me? Yep. Okay. Hi, my name is Janine and I'm working on starting a brand called the Midlife Chick. And it's a brand that focuses on health and wellness for middle aged women. It focuses on staying relevant both personally and professionally by keeping up with technology and the changes. Because realistically, you'll be in the workplace for a while and if you fall back just a little bit, you're going to put yourself outside of the marketplace. But I also want to just help women go back and find those dreams that they put on the back burner for whatever roles, whether it's being a mother or a wife or an employee, to go back and find those things and find some joy in bringing them to life again and finding your fierce and fabulous, over 40. So I want the podcast to be about those things. I want to highlight the health and wellness aspect because if you don't feel well, none of the other things will fall into place. If you're too tired after work, you know, to tackle some of those things, nothing else is going to happen. So that's the number one pillar. I'm struggling because I know what I want to do. I just don't know where to start. So then I'm here and then I'm here, and then I'm here and I'm just all over the place trying to, like, find where to begin. And I just. I just don't know where to begin. So that's what brings me to the chowers. Perfect. Yeah, you're in the right place. That's great. Thank you. And Jean, would you like to share? Sure. Thanks, Stacy. And it has been really interesting listening to everyone else.
I don't have a podcast, but I do have a domain name and I am starting one. I'm in Toastmasters, and one of the requirements on what I'm doing is a podcast. And I've taken like a four hour kind of overview and I have all these little pieces. But I saw your announcement and I thought this might be the opportunity to help me pull it all together. Because my subject is your life over 50.
For women. Because too often as women, we spend our lives raising our kids, taking care of our grandkids, our parents, and the dreams and goals we had, we put somewhere buried them. So your life over 50 is to talk to ladies over 50 who have either started a business, thinking of starting a business business, or looking for something to do. So I just need direction and God and how to put all this together and get it up and going. That's great. And I think I know a lot of people that you can interview. James. We'll be talking about that as this comes up, because that's pretty much I'll be 50 in May. So this is my kind of awakening, is coming back to who I am, and it's so amazing. And a lot of the people in the singles community are 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and that's kind of where a lot of them are. So definitely we'll have to talk about that as the challenge continues. I'm excited. And Shemeka, would you like to speak? Hi.
Well, recy.
First and foremost, I've always kind of been shy, but everything I do in my life now kind of takes me into a place where I cannot be. I teach in middle school A minister at church and I'm a singer songwriter. So I'm always in a position where I have to speak and where I have to share. I have not landed on a podcast. It's just something that's been on my mind for a few years now. It will be mostly about something to do with positivity. Talking about things that people might normally see as dull times, like Mondays. People always complain about Mondays, things of that nature.
My husband does podcasts. He has quite a few of them that he belongs to. He's a producer by nature. So they are mostly related to music and game playing and things like that. So I'm familiar with how it works. I could probably have him set it all up for me, but I kind of want to do it my own way and learn it from A to Z myself. Do as much of it as I can by myself.
Like I said, even though I've always been a little shy, I kind of enjoy sharing things with people. And so I'm very social media oriented. I sell makeup and so I can't be shy. My face is always out there, my voice is always out there. So I'm just kind of. I want to do this to see what I can do next. I want to bring out the boldness that's within me that I know is there and I know that I have some things to share. So good. I love that. I just writing this down bring out the boldness within me. I feel like there's a lot of. There's a lot in that because number one, I wanted to. This is actually brings up a good opportunity for me to tell you. There's so many people that come in and I was like this too. And I was originally going to pay someone a bunch of money to start my podcast for me a year ago, a consultant. And then I decided that I wanted to do it myself and that was the best decision that I ever made. Because when you are doing a podcast, you want it to be about something that you are excited about and that you're comfortable and wanting to talk about it all the time. Because it's going to be something that like you wake up and then you're gonna talk to someone and you want it to be something that gives you energy. And when someone else gets their hands in your podcast, it mixes it up and it confuses you. And so I think that's where you doing it yourself. And then eventually people can help you with the back end stuff. But for you to make sure it's set up with your vision and what you want. It really speaks to really what Gene was saying too. And it's finding out what makes you feel alive, you know, and, like, doing it for yourself. And so, anyway, so I think that. That. I love that you. I love that you said that, Shemeka, because I think you doing it yourself is huge, a huge part of this. Okay, do you have. I kind of set the first 30 minutes in my head for introductions. There are more people, but some of you are on video off. Do you. Any of you. Would any of you like to introduce yourselves before we continue on? Anyway. Yeah. Great.
Hi, Monique. Hello. Sorry, I'm driving to the grocery store and I gotta get off. I'm. I'm like, pulling over. I don't.
There we go. There we go. Okay. Hello. Hello. Hello.
Where I. Okay. Okay. Wow. Hello, everybody.
I don't have a podcast, actually, but I have been told.
For many years I need to do one. I'm a recovering alcoholic, and so I. I know that the things that happen with addiction, and I know that there's a lot to the process of becoming an addict. There's a lot of choices. We don't choose to do that. And again, there's, like, a lot of controversy in this. But the great thing is I can, like, talk about it, like, solidly. I want to bring to the table that, you know, people are not alone and that they are not their disease. That's so important that they know that they're not just some piece that, you know what I want to say, but I won't say it. They're not. We are not. And so just on my social media, I've always just talked about, you know, the things that I've been through and, you know, how. How I overcome things, how I overcome when, you know, you. Alcohol especially, you know, it's everywhere. It's. It's so, like, sociably acceptable. Um, and how do you work through those processes? When you go into places and, you know, going at the gas station, there's like a big triangle of, like, alcohol. If I just try to check out, you're an addict, right? You're just like, ah, what do I do? What do I do? Anyway, so that's kind of where I'm coming from. I just don't really know. I loved what you said, Stacey, when you said, I'm. I'm kind of, like, overanalyzing it and being like, I need someone to help me, like, set this up. But I love. And I'm so grateful that I just happened to turn this on as I was driving to my grocery store in Idaho that you said, you know, I decided to go on my own. So I really appreciate that because that's what's holding me back is I already do this stuff on my social media. However, I. I don't have it where I can, like, talk to people and bring other people in, you know, and. And, you know, even that the actual, like, active addict, right? That some of them want to talk, you know, they want to talk. An active addiction. And that is okay. It is so okay. So just. I don't know. That's where I'm at. I'm just like, I want to start, but I really. I just like, do. I just, like, try to zoom. And I just, like, don't know. Really, like, the step one is where I'm at my mind. I'm like, 2, 3, 4, 5. Right. But that step one for me is just like, what do I do? I don't know. What. Yeah. And I think what. I think what I really want to show you. And I'll. We'll do one more for Mindy. We'll do Mindy next. And then I do want to take. And then we'll kind of get into everyone else that wants to talk up after, but I want to show you guys to make sure that we're covering the stuff what you could be doing now in the meantime, because I think it's so easy to get in our head about what to do. And I just want to show you how easy it is know what to do. So, yeah, I'd love to hear from. From you, Mindy. And then when we come back, Natalie, remind me to have you speak up too. I just want to show you guys a few other things before we have everyone else that wants to introduce themselves to finish.
Hi. Great. I'll be quick. I'm one of the don't know anything about doing podcasts. Don't have a podcast yet. But I'm very curious. I listen to a lot of podcast and I'm a singer songwriter, and right now I'm doing a lot of side gigs and figuring out my next move. So when I saw this come up, I was like, perfect. I need to learn all the things. So really great to meet everybody and I love hearing about all that you are doing. So nice to meet you. I'm so excited. It's so funny. I just listened. I went to New York last week and I listened to this band at the Hard Rock, and it's so cool to. I listened to the band. The singer was all over the stage. And I loved how she moved and she owned the stage. And so I now am reaching out to her to interview her for my podcast. And it's so cool to have a tool that you can connect with people in other ways that you wouldn't ever connect with them on. And that's actually what I want to show you guys next. And then we'll go into the setup of it, but just to kind of show you. So this is one of my podcasts. This is my do the Thing podcast. I so far have 140 episodes. I wanted to show you guys a couple of the different types of things that I do. I started with them in my car. The first two, because I was bottlenecked. And this is something I'm going to be showing you guys how to do. This too, is literally the first one is I don't show the minutes, but I think it's like seven minutes long. And it just was me in my car. And it was cool because I did it in my car. Now it shows that anyone can start a podcast because it doesn't matter where you start. And I literally just use this voice, and if you could see this voice thing on my phone. And I pushed record, and I was in my car and I did that on my phone. And then I uploaded it to the platform. And then episode number two, I don't remember where it was, but I used my voice notes for that one, too. Episode three is when I interviewed the founder of the podcast platform. And so. And then this one, Sam, she's a. I have a paddleboard and a dog, and she has a. She's like a dog paddleboard instructor. And she came in this huge white commercial van, and she had this picture of the paddleboard on the dog. And I'm like, oh, my gosh. You're literally a representative of do the Thing. So I was moved to interview her. And I tell you that because it was like I was bottlenecked at that time. Like, during these first 10 episodes, it was so painful. It was excruciating painful. But it was like people came into my life that I needed to meet at the perfect moment for me to be able to move. And seeing her was a way for me to see she is doing the thing. She has this huge band. She went all in on this business. And so anyway, so I just wanted to show you guys. Then it sort of expanded where I started to do expert panels. Cause all of a sudden I didn't. Or not even. I started to interview experts, and I wasn't even planning on. But the podcast started evolving. So I'm showing you guys this because I want you to really expand your mind into like what you're going to be able to do. And then eventually I did an actual full on expert panel with like six experts that we did for the first challenge. And then I'm now I'm doing celebration interviews so you'll be able to hear if you're interested. I could share you some celebration interviews of people that I've done podcast interviews with after they've done a challenge. So for some of you might be interested in doing that after this challenge is over, we could talk about how much growth you've had during it. And so anyway, so just to kind of show you there and then I want to show you the news podcast that I had started. Hold on, I'm gonna have to go in my email for a minute. Let me show you one more. And then I started a new podcast because my community in the do the Thing singles group was looking for a new way to date. And so then I was like, you know what, let me take my stab at it. And I started this new podcast and it's called the do the Thing Dating Experiment. And this one I actually have in the group I did every time I touched the podcast platform for this new one, I put it into, into the our challenge group so you guys could actually see. And let me just show you in this feature tab here, it's going to show you. It is coming up. Okay, so it's this one. This is where I tracked every single step. And I did this new podcast in a month pretty much. And I have 10 episodes, I think I have two that I haven't published yet. And I did this all in one month basically. And then I have case studies on each videos on each time that I touched the podcast. And so anyway, that's really. And you don't need to watch any of that. But if you're anxious and you're wanting to start and look at stuff that's kind of fun to see. Cause you'll see how I pretty much much started the podcast. And it's still. It's an experiment. That's why I have the experiment in the name. And so anyway, so there's that I wanted to also show you these circles are going to be also something that are something we'll talk about during the challenge because there's different ways that you could record. You could record yourself when you're doing these episodes. You can actually do things by yourself and talk to on a topic that you really want to talk about, or you could record with someone you know. Or a little scarier, you can record with someone you don't know, but maybe you're in a shared experience like I had started doing. I went on a hot air balloon ride with my boyfriend, and I interviewed the pilot. We went on a kayak trip. I interviewed the girl that was doing kayaking. Whatever is related to your topic is where you could do things or you record with a total stranger. And that's kind of. I wanted to show you guys this because this is now my new thing that I'm excited about. And I'm not saying this is something you have to do. This is just something I want you to open your mind up so different ways that you could record. So this one, let me just find it really quick. Oh, this guy. So I just thought I'd show you this because this is something I just did in New York on the street. I just randomly went up to this guy, and I have, like, 25 interviews of people that I did this with. And then I also did it in Europe as well, but it was just on my phone. And then this is something I can now I'll probably put a few of them together, and then I can upload it to my podcast so we could just watch this together. Just to kind of give you an idea. Like I said, my name is Stacy. I have a podcast called do the Thing. My first question is, what is something you've done recently that you are proud of?
Recently, something I've done that I'm proud of. I wrote my first personal statement for college, and I explained to a lot of people that.
Growing up, like, going to school, you know, you've written essays, letters, whatever, and.
You know, I've written those, and I never really put my all into it. And this is something, you know, for the first time in my life where I felt like it's me. I put my heart and my soul to it. I'm very proud of it. So that's something that recently that I've been very proud of doing. Yeah, I love that. So for people watching that might not know what a personal statement is. Do you mind sharing what it is? So a personal statement is something that you would have to write for college as a means of the school wanting to know why you. Why they should accept you. To the school, it could be a large range of, like, topics, like, what do you want to do in life? Some sacrifices that you've made in life that's made you a really strong person, you know, acts of leadership, kindness, things like that. Anything that'll make you look more appealing to the school to have them accept you. And what do you think helped you tapped into it to make this be the time that you really spent your all to write something that you really feel proud of.
I'm only 20, I'm very young, but I feel like I have a very strong story. I've been through a lot of my life and like I said, I've put a lot of my life experiences in that personal statement. So that's why I feel like, you know, now is the perfect time to write that. So good. And what's something you're looking forward to that you haven't done yet?
College, School. That's one thing that I was always excited about being a part of. I took a year from school to see what it's like to work in the city. You know, it was fun, but it just wasn't what I wanted to do. I wanted to continue my education. So I'm just really excited to start back in school. So what do you think? For people that are watching or listening that like have a goal like that, right, but they don't even know how to start, what do you think is going to help you be able to now go to college? Because you've written your personal statement, you're doing the things now in terms of making it happen, what's going to help you be able to do it? Just have people in your corner that are willing to help you. Positive people, anybody that can give you any piece of knowledge that can help you through the process.
Just. It's always good to have a helping hand. You know, I learned in life that, you know, you can't do everything by yourself. You know, it's always good to seek help. So that's the main thing that I can say for everyone that's watching this. And so on top of that, if you have one piece of advice for the listeners or the people watching on doing the thing, what would be your piece of advice? Never give up. No matter how hard life is, no matter how all the things that are going on in your life, they spread, seem like they're hindering you. Never give up. It's always going to get better. You know, it's just bumps in a road, that's it. So I just wanted to share that because I feel like there's so. There's been a lot of questions to me about how do you record and all these things, and it. It literally doesn't matter. You're recording, you can use your phone. That was on my. My daughter filmed it on the camera and then I had a mic, which I can help you guys if you want to do street interviews. But that's a whole nother thing. But I just wanted to show you the level, like so many things you could do. I want you to open your mind to be able to say, like, I could do this on my phone. I could do it on Zoom, I could do it however I want. So that's with the recording side of it. It's totally open. I mostly use Zoom. For me personally, I like using Zoom because everyone, my guests are comfortable using Zoom. So for me it works out great. I do have the premium plan. It's like $25 a month or something so that I could do 45 minute episodes. Because I think Zoom, the free plan is only like 30 minutes. But there's other. We have other options that I can show you. And then the other thing is, again, if you're doing it on your own, you could totally use your voice notes. That's fine. That episode was, like I said, on a camera, and then I synced it with a mic. But that's a different situation because that's on the street. But anyway, just to kind of show you, show you that. And then to also just give you an idea on the podcast, I'll show you kind of what that looks like and then we will set somebody up on the podcast. So this is inside Callcast, pretty much. It's so easy to use. I mean, I can actually show you. So I have an episode that I, I did today. So we have Kate Erickson. She's someone I'll be uploading, I'll be publishing. Because she's actually specifically talking about the startup podcast challenge with me. So I'll just kind of show you. Once you have it outside of Callcast, then you'll basically look at that button. Here, let me try to move this up so you guys can see, upload audio and then.
And then I'm gonna find it in here. And then I'm literally just. I'm not in Chrome, so I'll see how it works. Oh, good, it works. Okay, good. So it works the best in Chrome, but Kate Erickson and then start a podcast and I, I'll fix this later, but just to show you. So that's the yield. You upload episodes so you can upload it from an MP3, an MP4, an MV4, like things from Zoom. And if you actually record it in another format, that is not uploadable, let me know and we'll talk through it. But anyway, and again, you won't need to do this yet until the challenge starts, so you won't have to upload stuff in here, really. If you want to start recording, though, you could start recording. You already have your podcast started. That's what I wanted to show you, is you could do it on your phone, you could do it on Zoom, you could do it. There's a few other places I'll show you. But again, just do what's comfortable for you, because when you're recording it, I feel like it was Monique, but I'm not sure. Someone had said, do I just go on Zoom and do it? And the answer is yes. However, it's going to be the easiest for you to start. That's how you can start recording. And then when it's time to upload, you'll upload it straight in there. And that's the podcast. So this is where I have all my published episodes are showed here. And then there's pages for each one, and then the unpublished one and call cast is free. Unless you have more than one podcast. I have two. So it's like $25 a month. And this is my do the Thing dating experiment. So this is a little easier to look at. But that's my published episodes. And then I have two that are unpublished that I still need to publish. And so. So, yeah, and then you can also look at your analytics. They do have a syncing with analytics, but I'm really recommending you guys do not sync it up yet because you don't want to worry about who's listening to your podcast in the beginning. You want to have it be something for you that you're doing for you in the beginning, because it's going to kind of judge how you feel about it. So I. I'm going to show you guys how to do that at the end. That's actually one of the things I love about a podcast, is there's no dopamine hits you're going to get or not get. So, like, when you post something on Instagram or on Facebook or whatever, you're looking for likes, right? I mean, I think it's a normal reaction, and if no one likes it, you might feel differently about it. With the podcast, it's so full because you don't get that and you have no idea and you're just publishing it. And then it's like there's no noise from the outside. It's all your own Your own thoughts. So with that, we have 15 minutes left. I'd love to hear. We might take a little. Probably go a little longer, because I want to make sure you get the full thing and see someone set up their podcast. So who here would like to set up your podcast in front of everyone? And just to give you guys an idea, I don't know if Pamela's still here. Okay. She was just popping on, but Pamela had done this. What was it, like, two months ago? She was the one that did it. And now she has healing words podcasts, and I think she has, like, five episodes already on there, and it's going really strong, so it's definitely cool. I think, Natalie, you're raising your hands. Yay. And cool, because you were the one that I still wanted to have you meet. So now everyone gets to meet you, and we'll also have you set up your podcast. So. Super cool.
So why don't you share about you and then we'll. We'll have everyone watch you do it, and then we'll be here. So if you have questions, and then some of you, you might want to follow along. As we're doing this with Natalie, we had people do this on another zoom where someone else was doing it as we were doing it, and then they were setting up their podcast. So you'll see kind of like how. And then I have an instruction thing that you can use too. Okay, Natalie, so first introduce yourself, and then I'll. I'll help you, kind of guide you through it. Sure. Hi, I am Natalie. I am. I'm very excited to be here. I kind of happened on the Facebook page for the do the Thing, and I was just like, why not sign up now? A little bit about me. I started a blog 12 years. No, in 2012. So it's 10 years ago or more, and I've been crippled by fear. So it's. It's there. But I keep starting and stopping because I keep getting into my head, like, I want to talk about this. No, I don't want to talk about this. I know what to say. I don't know what to say. And that can be very crippling. And the thing about indecision, it's. It can hold you. And that's pretty much what it's done to me. So I still have my blog. It's still active, but I haven't really done much with it. And I've been thinking about starting a podcast since I started the blog, but I figured maybe just write some words and see how I feel about it before I start speaking. And the reason I wanted to start a podcast is I feel like everyone has a story to share. I mean, I myself, I was diagnosed with Ms. When I was 16. I've been living with it for, I'm 36 now, for a very long time now. And I've had a lot. I. I've been paralyzed about three times in my life so far because of it. And I had to go the first time I went, the doctor said I'll probably never walk the same or anything like that. And I said to myself, no, I am way too young. I'm 16. That's not happening. And it was a complete mind shift, mindset shift that I had to do. And I feel like when others hear disappointing news or troubling news, we tend to shut down. And I wanted to share, I would love to share my experiences. That's just one of them. I've been through many, but that's just one of the experiences I think people could learn from. I think when we share our stories, they give people the courage to live theirs and speak up about their stories and it helps someone. And the other side of what I wanted to do is I work in corporate America. I have been working in corporate America for about 10 years, since 2010. And I joined, I'm a DNI chair. I joined this a couple years ago. And I want to say within this past year it's been very difficult being a Christian woman within corporate America. And I was asked a question and I found myself afraid to speak up for my beliefs. And I wonder, I just wonder to myself how many people face this in corporate America today where you're afraid to speak up because there's a misconception on Christians. And I kind of wanted to speak to that too. I think there is definitely some truth to what some people say, but I think there's a lot of misconceptions that we can alleviate with love. So I wanted to talk about. I love wanna both sides. Yeah. And I think, I think people don't, not everyone, but I'm generalizing right now. But a lot of people don't realize how much your lived experience, experience can transform someone's day. The right thing that you could say at the right moment can change their day because the experiences that you have, it will help someone not feel alone. Right. And then not only that, but it's also what it's going to do for you by being able to speak these things out loud. It's a whole another level of healing really to be Able to. To talk through. Through things and then provide clarity. Well, if you're open to it, I'd love to have you share your screen and we'll do the thing and then I'm gonna go ahead and post in the group for everyone. If you want to follow along, I have a. You could follow along by listening. And then we also have an SOP that our amazing Randy has created for you guys to do it after if you prefer. So I'm going to just put that in there. Now go to callcast Co.
And you guys could be doing this too, if you'd like. And then if you get stuck at all, then just. You could speak up as we're talking. Feel free to just speak up as we're doing. So now go to login.
And then go to the microphone button over. I have my new little. Oh, yeah, you did it. Okay, now go to sign up.
And then go to phone number. And if you guys could all do phone, it's a little easier to start off this way. And then just put in your phone number. I'll. I'll hide this later for the recording.
Unless you want everyone calling you.
Perfect. Here we go.
I have young ones, so they take the phone. Oh, yeah, I remember those days.
I did it. And it's. I got my phone number. And then it says, it looks like either your email or phone number is missing. And it's asking for email also. Is that. Yeah, now. Yeah, exactly. Now type in your email.
Perfect. And then you'll save it there. Okay, great.
Awesome. Now go to where it says the are the little WI fi button. That's the fourth one down on the left. There you go. There you go. And then in where it says, what is your name or title of your podcast? What would you like the name to be? Oh, keep in mind, you guys, any of this can be changed. You don't have to worry about any of it. It can all be edited. So perfect. And you already know, so I love it. And then what is your podcast about? So just give a description what we should expect from your podcast.
I'll keep it simple for now. No, that's perfect. And then, yeah, just a subtitle so you could say something like this podcast is about or, you know, anything you want here. And again, this is merely like, we can edit any of it later. And I'll show you how to do that as well.
Love that.
And the whole goal of this, like you're. You guys are learning. This is a muscle right now. We're practicing. It's a Do the thing muscle of just being able to move and do the thing. So if any of you are stuck at any point right now, this is a good muscle for you to say, you know what, it doesn't matter. I'm gonna just do it anyway. Because all of this can be changed. No one has to see it. It could be just for you or you could share it and I'll show you where we'll put it in the directory. And then here's where you put your name. I actually my middle name is the way that I. I don't use my last name, so Stacy Lauren is my middle name. But you can use whatever you want here. Mine's different because I'm divorced and I still have my married name.
Perfect. And then you could put your email there. Yeah.
It says itunes email. Does it have to be an itunes email? Because. No, it's fine. You can use any email you want here. Okay.
And then this is where you'll select your category. And so just pick whichever one looks the best for you. I feel like there's a self improvement one or something. So I think that self something about that.
What is that one? It's like personal development or something. Oh, there. Self improvement under education. Do you think that fits? Yes. Okay, cool. There you go. And then here you'll put episodic. Okay. And then I would say. So there was one person. Was it Melissa? I think that's going to do something for kids. So I think for that one you could say it's clean, but I would say for you, explicit language. For anyone else I would do explicit language unless it's specifically for kids. It just did say for that way you can always change it if you want. And then do you want your podcast synced with itunes? Say yes. It will not be synced yet. We have to do an actual one time syncing and we'll do that at the end of the challenge. But. And now let's go ahead and save it and then submit there and then hit okay.
And then I'm going to show you something. So go. Okay. So the first time you do it, you're gonna have to log back in, but then after that you won't have to anymore. So just log back in and it'll make you do everything again. But it, it's like, then do it under your phone. Every time you log in, just do it under your phone. I just like doing it that way it's easier.
Okay. And now go back to that. The WI fi button, the fourth one down. And this is When I'm going to show you something cool. So fetching details.
Okay, go to preview page.
It's like, right? Hold on, let me see. Oh, good. Okay.
So now this is your podcast. It's already set up. It's going to live on this link. And then we're going to go ahead and do your image right now, if you're comfortable. Have you ever used Canva before? Yes. Oh, cool. So go to. Let me put the link in the chat. One second. I have a specific link you can use here.
Okay.
There you go.
And Anna, do you mean, like, for your pod, since you already have a podcast?
Okay. And now go look at the podcast cover that you like the best here. Like, what will change the title and everything for you? But, like, which one? Like, that one looks cool. I don't know if that's your. That one above that road. Where'd that one go? Road podcast.
Well, the one like Purple Modern. I need my annotation thing here. This one? Yeah, like, something like that. You can pick anyone you want. Or that talk one looks kind of cool. I like this. I don't have the Pro Canva. Okay. I. I think it's okay if you click on it and then let's customize it and then I think if you share it with me, I can download it for you. We'll have to try it just to see. Okay. And if we do it after, it's always. It's okay, worst case. But yeah. Okay, so, yeah, let's use this template.
And then. Oh, it is going to make you do it. Okay. Yeah, we'll pick another one, I guess, for now. Okay. Unless. Randy, is there any way that we can do that where we can have her do it on ours? No, no, not right now. Okay, that's fine. But we can always change the image, which is something that. That's true. We can. Yeah. So we'll just do one just so we. Everyone can see how to do it. Yeah, well, that's cool, too. I like that. Yeah. So customize. Great.
Okay. And then, yeah, so where it says. I mean, pretty much, you could do whatever you want with this. But like, I mean, where it says podcast, maybe would be kind of cool for you to put your name there, like the. The name of the podcast there.
And like, you might want to just lower, like, put the font a little bit less.
I like that font, though. That looks really cool.
Yeah, maybe like 300. We'll see what it looks like.
Need a little bit less.
Oh, there you go. Yeah, that looks cool. And then put Your name maybe where it says, like, every Monday at 4, you could put like, by. And then your name there.
Gotta click in again. I know. And then what do you want to put there?
I'm seeing, like. Well, you could put. Oh, you could put like a little bit about it if you want. Like, what's. What is it about? Like, podcast about what you put on the description would be good there, I think.
And then where it says welcome back. Do you like that? Or do you want to just delete that? Or is there something else that you feel you want to put there?
We can delete it. I can't think of anything I want. I know. That's why I was like, we might as well just delete it. I think that looks really cool. Okay, so now just download the image. You know how to do that? I think it's under share. Yeah. Okay, cool. And download it as a jpeg. Okay.
Then you go to that. Not there. If you go to share.
You end of the page, go. Oh, yeah, Click the one page, go, share. And then it should be down. Oh, that sounds different, isn't it? Why does it keep popping up? Okay. Oh, there it is. Yeah, there you go. And then if you scroll down, you'll see. Yeah, download. And then you just pick the jpeg.
There you go. There you go. And then you want to. You just want the one first page. Yeah.
Just. Yeah, uncheck. Perfect. Okay, perfect. Great. Download that baby.
Perfect. Yay. All right, so now.
Now we're going to go back to callcast. So exciting.
And so just so you guys know, Callcast does work the best in Chrome, but if you're not in Chrome, it is okay, because it. It typically will work in other ones. It just always works in Chrome. So if for some reason there's an issue, we'll. We'll go on Chrome. But go back to the Callcast tab, which is right next to where you are. This one's the. Where the pages with your podcast. So go to the other one. Know where my annotations went. And now go to edit info.
And then go all the way down to where it says the image.
And then you're going to. Now take the file. Yeah. Either upload it or you're going to pull it. You're going to drag it in, whichever one is better. Okay.
And then just hit update on the left.
Okay. And now we're going to go to preview page again.
And there it is.
And so.
So it's exciting because, like, literally, Natalie, now this is your podcast. And so when you. You when you start recording again, the so called Cast does have its own recording inside of the platform. So you can record in there. I just, for some reason, for me, I like Zoom better personally, just because it just, it's just like not easier. Callcast is easy to use, but it just. I don't know, everyone knows Zoom, but again, you could record in there. You could record on Zoom, you can record on other things. I do have a list of things. Let me share. Do you mind unsharing your screen for a minute and I'll share mine again?
I do have other. Like, if you guys want to.
Go. Where'd it go.
There? I have other. Oh, it's in the other one. It's in the other. And then. Yeah. Oh, and then also Natalie, if you could go to this link, I'll put this in the chat. Did you get it? Okay, good. Yeah, so we have a. We have this link set up and then you guys are going to then get to go when you submit this here and I'll put this in the chat. In a minute you're going to go on our podcast directory that everyone's going to have access to. And so it'll be a great way for you guys to be able to like, see who else is starting podcasts. So these are the pre podcasts that we helped set up. I've been kind of doing it as a way to just make sure, you know, anything technical, because when we were starting, you know, as a brand new group and then I just wanted, before we had 600 people in the group, I wanted to be able to test anything ahead of time. So put that in the group here. So that's going to be where you actually will submit your podcast when it's all set up and then I can kind of show you also. And again, all of this is going to be in the challenge. We're just giving you guys a sneak peek of it. Like, is like a whole week in like week two of the challenge.
Let me just pull up something else for you so you could see it here. Oh, here we go for the full thing. Okay, let me show you what this looks like. So I know a lot of you are really, like excited about doing it and I don't want to like, have you not get. Okay, so I just put another link in there and I'll show you this.
And so like I was getting that. Sorry. So, yeah, so yeah, so with this, it's like step one is set up your podcast. So this is the one that Natalie just did. So that's Done.
And then the next thing is you record again. These are going to be all weeks in the challenges, so you don't have to do this now. But I'm just telling you in case you want to set ahead, this is where I talk about the recording. You could record different, use different tools, and we're not even listing them all. There's so many different options you have for recording on here. And then we give examples of first episodes you could do. But if you're already wanting to start, you can. That's what the point of this is. So we didn't even say congratulations. So why don't we all just take a minute and tell Natalie how freaking awesome that is that she now has a podcast.
It's like.
It happens so fast. It's almost like shocking, you know, because when people have this big thing built up of what it is and then you get to see like, oh my God, wait, I have a podcast. It's like crazy. And you saw how I uploaded an episode earlier. That's like literally the only other thing that you do is once you get the episodes that you interview, then upload it into the, to the platform. And then once we help you sync it at the very end to Apple and Spotify and Amazon Music and all the platform, it's like just one, like, it's like a one touch. I can actually, if you guys have a few more minutes, I can just kind of show you what that looks like because I want to get all the technical hang ups done. Stacy, I've got a quick question. Oh yeah, I keep getting. Please choose a different image. This does not fulfill the requirements. Image must be square. Yeah. Did you, did you use. It might be the template. Is it on the Canva? Yeah, it was on the canva. Okay. Do you, do you mind, can you send it to Randy and Randy can look at it while we're talking just to see.
I'm going to put my email in. Just anybody can that has questions. You can also email me. Yeah. And make sure you save what you did because it'll save everything. We just need to update your image, that's all. So, yeah, that'll be perfect. And we'll see what it is because I'm curious and we'll thank you for telling us because that'll help us figure out if we need to say something different there and then. Yeah, I think I'm just going to show you guys just, just so I want to give you like all the kind of like facts, you know, so then you kind of see like, easiness of it. Because what we just did with Nadalie is she now has this. She has her podcasts. Right. And then once we do the syncing, it's going to be in the sinking is happens. Really. I want you guys to have like five episodes before we sync it to Apple. You know, right now it's just going to live like I have my own page just so you should. I have mine just like Natalie does. It's like the same thing just. Just to kind of show you guys what it looks like. So it's going to live here until we sync it and then now that mine sync when I publish them. So you could see Brad's. My last podcast episode I published. So I'm just going to show you, like, how this works just from like a tactical side. And I think this will be the last thing we do. So I'm going to look through who's. Whose episode should I do now? I'm going to see if Josh is. Is ready. I think.
So let's just go. I have. So for me, I have my. All my titles and stuff. I've. It's a little different now, but I'll just kind of show you. Hold on, let me just. We'll show you how easy this is. Maybe I will. Josh's.
Let me do.
Jeremy. Okay. Jeremy is actually our do the thing champion. Find your voice chat. And so he was amazing or is amazing. Let me just kind of go. So I'm going to go to my unpublished episodes and find his. If you see, I have a lot of unpublished episodes, which is great because.
I like to do a lot of podcasts. Okay. So I'm putting in his podcast episode and again, like, let me just tell you, like, you don't need to do all this fancy stuff with like the title. Like, you could just do whatever you want. It doesn't have to be anything crazy. I do show you how I do that with the new podcast where I just like, literally was like, oh, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, like, it wasn't anything like, special. And then I did go back and update them after because once you update them, once you publish them, you can unpublish them and then update. So here's where I put the title, the episode title, and then put his thing there. I actually do images, but I don't recommend that for you guys in the beginning.
Because.
It'S going to slow you down to have to create. Unless you're like, good at like, all this stuff. It's going to slow you down to have to create an image. You don't have to do that. I just do it now. And then I'm going to hit publish episode. So I want to just show you how this works.
And this is how you will be publishing your episode. So once you have it synced to Apple in 20 minutes and you can look at my podcast later, you'll see it there. But for right now.
As you saw the one before that was done was. It was. Who was it again? Brad. And now you should see Jeremy on here. And there's Jeremy. So that's how fast it goes on to the Callcast platform. And then it's 20 minutes. Apple and Spotify are going to pick it up, and then it's going to be on there.
For ourselves. That's like lighter mango.
That is maybe this one. That's like, where. That's how easy it is. So that's what I wanted to show you guys. So, like, once your podcast is, like, up and running, like what we just did with Natalie, then you're just uploading it and then you're publishing it, and then you can unpublish it and you can publish it again. Because I sometimes I have people that write books and they want me to add the book to their. To their episode so I can unpublish it and then I can republish it and it's all. It all stays in the same place. Anyway. Anyway, I just wanted you to show the ease of use. Do you guys have any questions? I'm sure you have a lot of questions. Do you have any questions that are related to, like, what we just talked about with you being able to, like, set up your podcast?
Actually that last comment on unpublished and then republished. So you just basically edited and added to something and then republished it. Yeah. So, like, I can show you. Norris, thanks for asking. So, yeah, so pretty much like, let's say. So I just published. I just published Jeremy's. So let's say Jeremy wrote a book and he's like, stacy, I really want my book to, you know, be on your podcast. I just wrote this book. Then I could just go here and I'm gonna hit unpublish. And then he's then gonna come off. We'll see how fast it is. I don't know if it's like, actually this fast, but we'll see. He's gonna come off my call. Oh, yeah, he did. He's off my Callcast page now. And then. And then I'm going to go back in.
And then I'm going To republish it.
So then I would say, like, I would add something, like wrote a book, you know, let's see. Or drop a link in the description or something. Yeah, exactly. Whatever I want to do here. And then I can republish it. I would just check to make sure. If I have episodes after, I would make sure the episode number stays the same and then change. He won't change in the grouping. My point, I'm just showing you guys how easy, like, it is to use. See what I mean? So there he is right there. And so. Yeah, so it's just like awesome. Yeah. So the goal is for you to see that anything can be changed. And then Donna is asking if we could do it on. Yeah, so sorry, go ahead. Brandy. Yeah, I was going to tell you. I was just. Oh, yeah, you got it. Yeah. With that. It's so honestly, like, I don't even use callcast on my phone. I use it on the computer. And if you are wanting to record and you have an Android, like, if you have an Apple, you can record on callcast with your phone. But if you don't, as of right now, there's not an Android option. But again, you can record with your voice note. You record with Zoom and then and all of that. And then with. Sorry, Dee was just asking how to edit noise, etc. So that's a great question. I am recommending that you guys don't do editing during this challenge because it's just going to slow you down. And if that scares you, that is fine because you can decide, like, after the challenge, like, we can decide then you can, like get into editing or whatever. But, like, I didn't edit at all. Then you'll be able to tell my first six episodes I did no editing. And that was the only. That's the only reason why I have 140 episodes right now is because I didn't do editing. If I did editing, I would have. It would have stopped me, you know, and I wouldn't. But the movement was what got me going. And so we'll. If you have like little things, little pieces that you want to edit, like in the beginning or the end, that's easy. We can show you how to do that. And then if you want to do editing, you could do that. You could do minor editing inside Callcast. But a lot of people use, you know, like other programs for editing. But we're not going to really go into huge editing stuff with the platform. Because I'm recommending that you don't. I have A guy, one of our experts on a panel. He actually, his. His living is based on his podcast. He does no editing on his podcast at all. And it's the Ponytails podcast he actually interviews. He's really great. And so, like, his is no editing. Pamela doesn't do any editing either. She's the one that was here in the very beginning that just started her podcast. So I just suggest in the very beginning not to. And then. And then Mindy asked for Callcast. It is free for the way that we're using it for this challenge. You can do as many episodes as you want. The only time it costs money is if you want to do more than one podcast. And they have some premium features, like for transcripts, but you don't really need all that if you don't mean it, because you could get transcripts through zoom and different things, but, you know, if you want to, of course you can. And then Vicki has her hand up.
Mine's a simple question, and you may have already answered this because I. I came. I came in late for one thing, but I worked on this the other day after I got involved. And so I got everything up, except for now. I've got the document that I'm supposed to be putting this on for you, and it will not let me put the. The COVID onto it. It says it's too large, but it was the right to go. It goes on the actual one for Jotform. Was it the job or. Yes. Okay. Will you email that to Randy and she can look at it? It's adminothingformula.com and so, yeah, raise your hand. Did anyone else get their podcast set up then? Just so we can see or. Oh, cool. Okay, great. So Anna did also. Great. Very cool. Can you put that email address back then? Okay, thank you. You're welcome. Okay. And then, Andrew, what's up? The long one. Yeah, the call cast thing. If. If you're on the free version of it, you said you can only do one podcast, but unlimited episodes, unlimited time per month. Or. Or do you know. Yeah, so if you're not recording on it, then you have unlimited episodes. You can do as much as you want with it from the free version. So, yeah, there's no charge at all. It's only if you're recording in the app itself, and they do have Dolby sound, you know, for the recording. And so you are able to do it. But a lot of people like the option of doing video and things like that. And so then it's just Adam, the Founder is, like, perfectly good with people using it as a free tool. That's, like, what he. He and you guys will get to meet him through the challenge. He'll be visiting with you as well, probably especially during Tech Week. But, yeah, that's kind of the goal with that video. Is it a video platform as well? No. That's why a lot of people are liking to use Zoom. And he does have an integration he's about to do where, like, it could go straight from Zoom into Call Cast. But if it. If it. If it doesn't have that, like, it's just as easy as I showed earlier, where you're just dragging it in and you upload it. So, I mean, it's. It's. It's still just as good. Cause you're just, like, taking a minute to bring it in, if that makes sense. Yep, absolutely. Thank you. Yeah, for sure. And. And I think now. I think now you can upload both MP3s and MP4s. Yeah. Yeah. He. I don't know. He did it. He did an update, and that's what I love. Like, he's a person. He's a human. He's great. I actually ended up investing in it, the platform, because I'm so, like, psycho about how much I love the platform. And he's such an amazing person. And then with the whole Boys and Girls Club thing, it just. It's a good partnership for us. But he is just. He's available, so if there's anything people want to have tweaked, he's pretty good about doing things pretty quickly with it as well. So that's the other thing that I like. Okay.
Oh, I think she's muted. Oh. I raised. I think I was just raising my hand to say I had done it, but I'm stuck at the Canva. At the Canva. I'm stuck on the Canva part. I do. You're the one at the Canva. Okay, gotcha. Yeah, no problem. Email Randy and she'll. She'll look at that. So.
Okay. And, Eugene.
Good morning. Good morning. Hi. I have a terrible cold, and I don't want to.
Take everybody's time.
I just wanted to ask a tiny question about cold cast. I think I prepared half of the thing to get the. The. The podcast started.
And then I. I realized that a lot of platforms that limit what the podcaster or the host of the podcast can promote or accept.
I don't know, payments on. On the platform.
Support from. From.
From the. From people who listen to.
Yeah. Do you mean, like, like to see if there's a way to do the monetization. Like not just sponsorship, but there's a way. That was the word. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, I know that's something they're going to be adding at some point, but it's. I don't think it's there yet, but I can double check with him to see what it, where it is on the roadmap to be able to add that. But on that page you mentioned earlier about books can be.
Linked to. Yeah. Or displayed or.
Is that something that can be already put in on the page? Yeah. So typically what I mean by that is if it's like, let's say you're interviewing a guest and they have a book, then you would add the link for their book to the description. So what about, what about if I want to promote my book through on the page of the podcast? Yeah, that's where you would put on that description. Let me see if I have it easily to show you. But on that.
Yeah, so like you could put anything like here, you know, like on this description part. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. And then like I, obviously I need to update mine. I have to put like you did. I didn't have Instagram or anything when I went. Or YouTube when I started, so. Okay, thanks for reminding me.
But it just shows that like you can add things as it goes and then. Okay. D is asking about the live feature. Oh my gosh, it totally does have that. Thank you. Oh yeah, you're welcome. And I didn't even think about that. I, I have never used it myself, but I'll make a note that you're interested in that and I'll either get a video for it, but there is a call in feature and a live feature that you could do a live podcast. Because the joke with that is when I first started talking to Adam, the Callcast founder, he was telling me about it and at the time I was like, there is not a chance I'm ever gonna wanna do a live podcast. And then as I got going with the community, I do Facebook lives all the time and I do upload those into the podcast. So when they're not like private conversations. And so it's funny. So the joke is that like what I said I would not do like six months ago, I'm doing now because you grow and I think a few of you spoke to that like you, you stretch this muscle of growth and then you, you're able to do that. So, so yeah, so there's definitely. And then as of right Now, d. I, I don't. They. I don't think they have an affiliate program now, but I'll make a note if you're interested, because I think it's something that, that he is interested in on a roadmap and especially because he's partnering with a lot of schools now, Boys and girls club. He's helping really create this club feature also. And then. And that's going to help the overall podcast as well. So anyway, well, you guys are great. I am so excited to have you here. I think this is an amazing group already and I'm just like, really excited to see what comes of it. I wanted to share one more housekeeping item with you before we go. Is there is that page? Because some of you came in from the Facebook group directly, but if you did not. Okay, that's the directory. That's the podcast form. You want me to get it up?
See, I think. Oh, there it is. If you did not go in on this page, please sign up here too, because this is where you're going to be signed up for the emails that are going to be in the challenge as well, the instructions of how to download certain things and certain things. So, yeah. Fun of stuff. Yeah. For the challenge. Once the challenge start, feel free to. Oh, and then if you did not post your pledge yet and why you want to do the challenge, feel free to do that. That's gonna. I'm gonna be explaining why all that is really important. The thing about the to the thing challenges is we have a much higher probability of you guys being engaged and involved because I explained the why behind why it's so important for you to do it more than you will. You. It will blow your mind with like how much this formula is going to change a lot of the things that you do because it's how we have such a strong community, pretty much. So I'm so excited to share that with you as well. You're not only going to be leaving this challenge with podcast, you'll be leaving with tools that you can literally use for your life. So I'm really excited to. To share that with you as well. So thank you guys so much for joining. I really appreciate it. And then mark on your calendars, April 17th at 5pm Pacific Standard Time. And then we're gonna have a Facebook Live. It'll be every Monday.
During the challenge. So is Stacy. This is Andrew. I still have a question. Oh, sure. One quick question. When you said talking about the Facebook page, you said if you haven't signed up at this page yet. What is this page? Oh, I just put it in the link or in the. In the chat. It's just a landing page. I just. Yeah. To sign up for the podcast challenge, you're in the group. One of the actions of it is to sign up for the group. So you've been in the group, but we. We have specific instructions that will be emailed to you from this page.
Okay. Because that. I. I don't know. I don't even remember how I got to you. So. Yeah. You're on that page or not. Yeah. Go ahead and sign up that way. Just to be sure. Yeah, just to be sure. Do you see the link in there, Andrew, and the. Okay, cool. Yeah, just sign up there and then if you won't get double, if you get double, just let us know. But I don't think you will. All right, you guys, thanks so much on April 17th. Thanks for joining. Take care. They just said bye.
