I Take You On A Full Walking Tour - Sandals St. Lucia Halcyon Resort Review

All right, we're at Sandals Halcyon. This is number 2 of the Sandals Resorts that I am visiting in St. Lucia. So I just took this shuttle right in front of me. So right here, this is one of the advantages— you can stay at one and play at all 3. That beautiful air-conditioned shuttle will take you to all the different Sandals Resorts. So I'm going to take you around, we'll take you on a tour, uh, I'll give you all my insider tips as we walk around as Well, I was here yesterday. Ah, this resort is beautiful. So I'm staying over at La Tak, but I came over here yesterday because you can stay at one, play at all three. And then I took a little day kind of walking around and it's beautiful. Like La Tak is tropical, but I mean, just look at behind me. I mean, like Literally everywhere you look, this is the most tropical resort anywhere. So love, love, love this. So all right, let's go show you around. It's sunny. It's getting close to, uh, what is it, about 3:30. So lots of different room categories. Uh, lots of different room categories. A little calmer beach area over here at Halcyon than over at La Toc, which is nice. Also, I would say this resort has a quieter, more tranquil vibe. So if that's your thing, you just kind of want to relax, take it easy, not a big party I mean, look right here. I mean, that's— I mean, you could just lay right here and spend the evening right here. That's beautiful. So yeah, very tranquil, relaxing resort, uh, a lot easier to walk around. So if you watch my other video on Sandals La Toc, in St. Lucia, you notice that it's super hilly. Everything is kind of up, down, around, not easy to get around. So if you're in a wheelchair, Sandals La Toc, not great. There are elevators in one of the buildings, but still, it's definitely not recommended. But this resort over at Halcyon in St. Lucia is pretty easy to get around. And it is stunning, stunning, stunning. All right, so I'm gonna take you out here to the beach. We'll show you around there. If you're getting married, these little pavilions, perfect vow renewal, wedding. Then you can have cocktails, reception stuff set up right here. Look at these rooms, these rooms with the swim-outs. You have a room right here. These are popular. You have a room right here, you got to swim out, it comes right out here, and then you go from there, and literally from that room to here is the beach. And so if you watched my other Sandals St. Lucia video, look how much calmer— see, the water here is so much calmer. See, very calm. Like, you can get in here very easily. Um, yesterday at, uh, La Tac, I went out to the beach. Man, those waves, those waves are no joke. They will knock you over. You have to like really place your footing. They have those little swim-out things, they're like little circles that are like little hammocks. Um, and to get in them is pretty difficult. But this resort is pretty nice. So this is the Beach Bistro. So this is open for like lunch and then dinner. So right here, right on the beach, you got a beautiful little sitting area. And look at that, relaxing. You've got a bar that you can sit that. And so yeah, these are super cute. Look, quaint little garden area, all of them facing in, beautiful tropical. And then that pretty little island right there, this little bed right here. I love this beach. This is a great beach. Oh my gosh, you can't smell it, but the jerk chicken, the jerk chicken smells amazing. So yeah, very nice, super calm beach. So that's Kelly's, that, uh, Kelly's Dockside right over the water. We'll go in there later. It's a really pretty restaurant, it's, uh, really nice inside. I guess it's probably all been updated because it looks really great inside. All right, so let's keep walking. I had to put my sunglasses on because it's super sunny. Um, if you like these, these are Ray-Bans that my daughter went and did all the artwork on. I was like, I want some sunglasses that look like tiki, and so she made these. These All right, these little things, these are awesome. They have these over at, uh, Grand St. Lucian. These little hammock chairs, these little eggs, they are the best things ever. So at the Grand, which is the third St. Lucian resort, they have 4 of those right by the water. And it's beautiful. Nobody's out there. I just hung out in those little swingy hammocks all day. But yeah, another— again, these favorite— these are favorite swim out. Literally you just go from your room and you swim right out, and you have a little lounge chair right there. So those are nice. So like, like I was saying, you could have a reception here. You set something up right out here. You could have a group come here. They have these fire pits too. So this is great for like pre-wedding party, I guess, some appetizers. These rooms are cute. Now the pool is over here. Look, there's that. Look, they have these tubs. I don't know, I always say this. See these tubs right here? I don't know if I could— could you take a bath right there with all these people around? I don't know if I could do that. Now they have drapes, like I always say, they have the drapes. Um, they all have— every Sandals has this too. So they have the weather station. So at the weather station you can tell if it's going to be windy, calm, hurricane, uh, based on the coconut. This is their Italian restaurant, Mario's. Open air right here by the beach and the pool. So smaller pool here, right? This is the St. Lucia bird. They told me about the St. Lucian bird. The pitons are here, uh, the bay, Marigold Bay, I think. Uh, so that's it. So Kelly's Dockside. So this is Kelly's Dockside that I was telling you about. They might not— since it's 3:30, they might not be open, but we'll see. Um, if not, I was here yesterday and I can show you around, but it might be locked. We'll see, we'll Let's see if we can go in, maybe. Oh, it's pretty. So look, all right, so here's Kelly Stock Site. So this is great for dinner. Look at this, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Look at the view. So you got a nice view in the back. Hello, we're just looking around. It's so pretty in here. So you got all the tables, you got the little island out there. This is beautiful for dinner. So if you're looking for a great dinner, Kelly's Dockside. You can go ahead and book right here on the water. So that would be great to watch the sunset from Kelly's right there, cuz the sun's over there, so you watch the sunset. So yeah, there is a little bit of waves. So if you look at the water, it's a little wavy. It's not bad though, it's definitely calmer than Latak. I mean, but look, there's still— I mean, in the middle of the day, there's still empty chairs, so there's still plenty of room. All right, let's walk by the pool. We'll go by quick. Yeah, so it's a calmer pool vibe. They do have a swim-up bar right here. So there's the swim-up bar. So just a few people, so you can get a drink. They got music playing, they got volleyball net. Um, yeah, so there's definitely smaller resort feel if that's what you're looking for. It's really pretty. You got a little hot tub, and then down here, down here's the, the pool or the beach. Here, let's go down to the beach and actually— now the water is actually a little chilly. You'd think the water wouldn't be chilly, but it's a little chilly. So let's see. Let's see if we can touch the water. So yeah, oh, it's not bad. It's because I'm so hot probably. So that's why it's not that bad. But yeah, there's your view. It's nice. So we'll walk down the beach here. But yeah, quiet beach, great place to have a vacation. Now Sandals, everything's included, and I mean everything. I mean like all your food, drinks, all these water sports right up here. So that kite, or that Hobie Cat, the, um, kayak he's pulling out there, uh, snorkeling, scuba diving is all included. So make sure you book it though. So when you first get here, make sure you go to the— I don't know, whatever this is, the water sports area. And see what's available and book it, because you can book in advance. And a lot of this stuff, they usually have like a morning snorkeling and an afternoon snorkeling, so you want to go ahead and see what's available. So make sure you book that as soon as you can, as far out as you can, because I think they stop at 4, which is why they're getting ready to put all this kind of stuff away. And see, it's a yellow flag today, so I don't know what that means. I know if it's red that they don't do it. So, so up here, up here is the sports center. So this is where you can get all your— you can go get a Hobie Cat, you can get a paddleboard, and you can also do dive lessons. So they have a little pool, they have a little pool right up here where you can do diving. Oh my gosh, so look right here, dive instruction pool right here. So you can learn to dive and then you can go ahead and take diving. You can go on your first dive. Now you have to be certified or you have to do this training class to get credit. So you can do your first dive. So there are restrictions. Um, I've got an article all about what's required to go diving, so I'll put that in the description. I'll put a link to that. So if you're interested in learning more about the dive program, there's golf. Like, if you golf, greens fee, transportation, so all that's included. Uh, there's two different golf courses on St. Lucia. I've been to both, so I am putting together a video on the golf, so you can do that as well. While I'm talking to you, I'm just getting lost in the jungle. That's the best part about Halcyon is it's beautiful. So, I mean, look, we're just walking through this tropical paradise, right? This is beautiful. So, okay, so this is where we're at. So this, that's a Rendezvous. You can't even see it because it's behind this coconut tree, and I think there's a banana tree up here that I saw earlier. Yeah, see, look up here. That's how tropical this is. We just went by all these coconuts. And this banana tree, this banana tree has a bird nest in it, if it's still there. Let's see. Oh, there it is. So that's a banana, and this right there is the bird's nest. And I don't want to disturb them, but they made their little nest right there in the bunch of bananas. So Yeah, there's another bunch of bananas. But it's so tropical back in here, I love it. But yeah, see how quiet it is? And like, we've run into like maybe 2 or 3 guests, and every— there's a couple people over at the pool, right? But it's beautiful back in here. I'm getting lost, I've been wandering around here. But they have all these little winding pathways, beautiful at night. They have the frogs, they have these little tree frogs that make this beautiful sound. I mean, look at this, I'm like walking literally past a coconut, this coconut tree right here. I mean, every, every spot here is beautiful ocean, picturesque. Like, there's a little palm tree hut right here. I mean, so many great places to take photos. These rooms here are amazing because they have these little infinity edge pools right off of the room. So these are stunning too. So you've got a room right here and then these little oceans, and then right down here is the beach right here. So you can hear the ocean while you're in your little private pool. And you've got that cute— that little island. I mean, look at that photo right there. I mean, this is amazing for a photo. So you get a lot of different dining options, or you can just go hang out and get a different vibe. So let's see, I don't know, I'll try to walk around. But let me walk around, I'll see what else we can find and make sure I give you all the tips. I want to show you, I want to show you these rooms. These rooms are literally right on the beach, right? So you have these cute little rooms here. You have a little soaking tub right here, and then you have that view. So that's how close you are, right? Right there's the beach, and there's your cute little room right here. So I don't know, I mean, you could throw a coconut and hit the water. That's how close it is. So there's a lot of cute little— I mean, these, these resorts, right? So these resorts are not like 15-story high-rise in Mexico, right? These resorts are old, classic, beautiful resorts, but a lot of these rooms in this resort are redone, so they're stunning, very beautiful, very well done. And they have some older rooms too that are lower price point, so you can get that. But I mean, you can just— these are so adorable. And they have like their own little plunge pools. Look, they have their own little pool right there. Right there's their own little pool, and then you got the little resort. They are beautiful. They're so stunning. They're awesome. And look at that tree. I mean, that tree has been there forever. But they're all like tucked away in these little private gardens. Oh, they're awesome. Then if you— I don't play chess, but if you do play chess, you've got that. And look how quiet it is. And then just steps away over here is volleyball and the swimming pool. So like right there is the main pool with everything happening in volleyball. So you've kind of got a best of both worlds. You've also got pool tables and like little, uh, play area. So look, you got a pool table here. So you got pool, you got a nice little bar here, and then here's your smaller main feature pool. So it's nice, nice setup. Let me see what else. This is where you first check in, so you got over here for photos, you get excursions. We're walking back over towards the main lobby area. So this is where you first check in. So this is your Island Routes. So that's where you can book all your tours. I just did a tour. I did that. Oh, I did this. I just did this tour. I just did this one right here, the Romantic Bamboo Rafting. So I just did the romantic bamboo rafting, um, right before I got here. So I'll go ahead and, um, I'll go ahead and put together a video on that. It was phenomenal. Um, let me get somewhere quiet, out of the way. But this is where you check in, right here. Look, they're giving hugs. Um, So I did the romantic bamboo rafting earlier today at 9:00 AM. Um, I think it's $160 through Island Roots, and we can book that for you. Um, it was amazing. So you got to watch the video once I put it together. So there's some amazing moments. So here, let me stop over here. So on that tour You get on this bamboo raft. I'll tell you, I'll give you a little bit of the spoiler, then you got to watch it. So you get on this raft made out of bamboo, and Larry, Larry was our guide. Larry is looking for an international woman, if anybody, especially from New York or DC. I don't know why it's New York or DC, but that's, that's his requirements. So Larry was our guide, 2 people per raft. So I went with Cheryl, who's my friend here, and we had a great time. So it's relaxing. You go down this river. We saw water chickens. Larry, he strives to catch one one day, but they're very evasive and elusive, so he hasn't caught one yet. But he's trying to devise a plan to actually catch and release a water chicken. At some point. So that's one of his life goals. So anyways, on this raft it goes to this super romantic spot where everybody loses their phone in the water, so be very careful. And they tell everybody that, and then of course one person in our group did lose their phone, but they got it back. They were quick. Ah, so I saw this like beaver or something, like is that a river otter? Like in this wide part of the river way up in front. I'm like, what is that? I'm like, Larry, what is that up there? And he goes, that's a puppy. I'm like, that's a puppy? He's like, yeah. So that puppy swam for like 20 minutes. Like, he was way up, way in front of us. And then we got next to him on the raft, and I picked him up and put him in. And we named him River. That was the most adorable puppy. Like, my kids and my wife are gonna be so sad that I did not bring that puppy home. That puppy was the best, sweetest, and I'll put together a video. She was amazing. Like, she got on that raft and she snuggled up like within and licked and was like the sweetest little puppy. Ever. And then, oh God, to make it even worse, so then we took the puppy to the beach on the raft and she ran around and I put a coconut down that we opened up and she bit into the coconut and she took it with her and she started eating the coconut. Um, and we put little water in part of a coconut and then, uh, and then we're like, all right, we're gonna leave. So we all got on our rafts and we went 2 miles up the stream, up the river. 2 miles. A little— so they tie all— at the end they tie all the rafts together and they have a little powerboat that takes them up. And there she is, and you can see her on the beach, um, looking for us. And I'm like, okay, I can't have eye contact, can't look, don't look at the puppy. And then— all right, sorry, I'm like I'm like, okay, good. I said goodbye, I'm okay, the puppy's there. And then I can see out of the corner of my eye, she's running along the edge of the beach. And I'm like, oh God, don't look. And she's following. And then we go through the jungle, right? And I see glimpses for 2 miles of her running through the jungle. I'm like, what is that rustling sound? She— then Larry's like, that's the puppy. I'm like, you're kidding me, right? And then we get almost all the way back to the dock where we started, and here she is swimming in the river back towards us. She gets back on the raft. I pick her up. She's there right at the bust. Oh my God. I was like, now I got to— so it was awful because we had to leave her there. So she was adorable. So if you go on the river raft, uh, the romantic— there's two different raft trips you can take, um, there's a morning and an afternoon. Anyways, I'm off topic, but anyways, we're going to keep walking, we're going to keep going through, and I'll take you around the resort. But everything looks amazing here, it's great.
