Sandals Royal Curaçao - I Take You On A Full Tour

Oh my God, I'm at Sandals Royal Carousel. It is amazing, but you don't want to see me, you want to see this. This is when you first walk in the lobby. Double edge infinity pool, the ocean right there. It is absolutely stunning. All right, let me back up, take you a little back behind me to the lobby. Sandals Royal Curaçao just pulled in. It's right behind me. Um, I'm going to give you all the details about this resort. So if you're planning on coming here, you're planning on going to Aruba, Bonaire, you got to go to Curaçao. Beautiful island. I've been here a few times. My first time to Sandals. Sandals actually invited me down to take a look. This resort opened 2, 2 and a half years ago. It's spectacular. This might be one of my favorites This could be a favorite for 2024, 2025. So we'll see, but it's pretty spectacular. So when you first pull in, there's this amazing water feature. It's right over here. So it's kind of like a sailboat when you look at it. This is in like a really nice neighborhood in Curaçao. So when you come in off the road right here, it's mostly like desert. So Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, it maybe rains maybe 5 minutes twice a month. They don't get a lot of rainfall here, so it's very dry. But then you come into Sandals, and I was like, oh, it's going to be super dry. It is unbelievably tropical. These are, oh, these are plumeria. So they've got plumeria right here, all kinds of amazing stuff. But I'm getting carried away. So let me kind of back up. So if you're looking at coming to Curacao, I'm going to take you on a full walking tour of this resort from beginning to end. At the end, I'm going to go on some room tours. I'll show you my room. It's a little messy. I'll take you in there anyways. And I'm cheap. So if you want to save money, I will give you the tips and tricks on how to save money on a Sandals or Beaches resort. Or if you want to come for a special occasion, you want to go butler, You want to get a villa, you want to get a bungalow, I can show you how to do that too. Oh, and I can also show you the deals for how to do that. I've got a whole team that's ready to help you set up your sandals or beaches vacation. So I've got to tell you the truth here. When this resort first opened, I think if I didn't tell you already, about 2, 2 and a half years ago, if you search the internet, the reviews, god, the reviews were awful. So I don't know what happened when it first opened. I don't know if it was just kind of growing pains. There was an issue with the pool. It's been all resolved. The pool is amazing. So if you see that, everything's been resolved. The service— I think the service level when it first opened, they were training people, so they were having some issues with that. But the service— I think this is probably the best service I've had at any Sandals resort. I've got dinner at Butch's tonight, so I'll take you to Butch's tonight. But I had Vincent, which is another one of their fancy reservations-only restaurants. It's off to my left over here. I had that last night and it was phenomenal service. The food, even breakfast, lunch, everything's been great. All the service everywhere. To give you an example, I was looking for— I couldn't find the restaurant. So I was like, hey, I can't find the restaurant, can you guys help me? And instead of just like pointing you in the direction, like the person who was walking down the hallway like walked me to the restaurant. So that was like the level of service. So they've been spectacular. They come into your room, they check on your room. Oh, see these, these little Mini Coopers. All right, so if you do splurge and you want to spend some money, like you can get one of these little, Sandal's Mini Coopers and take a tour of the island. So these come with some of the top-level rooms, so you get the nice little Mini Cooper, spend your day. Um, so yeah, so I'm at the entrance to the resort right here. Oh, that tour bus! So the buses that pick you up and take you here, if you've been to some of the other Sandals resorts, like, so this is a Dutch island and it's really nice. Like, so tour buses are nice, the The island is beautiful. Everything is just spectacular. So, all right, here's the view when you first come into the lobby. Look at this. Are you ready? So look at that view. It is amazing. You come walking in, the chandelier in here. It's just stunning. Flower arrangements. The front— or the bar is off to the left. Piano player. And then the ocean, as soon as you walk in, is right out those doors. So this is where— this is the amazing double-decker infinity pool that you saw probably on every video that you've watched so far. Right there. And then, so if you're looking at the pool, so you've got the first level right here, and then the second level is right there, and then the ocean. And it's glass all the way up and down. And then off to the right of the pool, kind of back over there, is a swim-up bar. With the, the stools in the water. The other thing that's really nice here is it's always windy, so it feels, you know, it's like 85 degrees, but it feels really great because there's always a breeze. All right, so let's go back in to the lobby and I will walk you around the resort. So you have Island Roots, so you can book all your excursions over here on the left. So if you want to go snorkeling or you want to go, uh, on a catamaran— I did snorkeling my first time to Curaçao. We're going to go down the stairs. So I did snorkeling my first trip to Curaçao, uh, with my daughter. I didn't stay at Sandals. Sandals is for couples, uh, But one of my daughters was— we took a catamaran and it was her first time snorkeling. And the reefs are like right off the island. Really amazing snorkeling. She loved it. It was her first time. And then on the catamaran, you can see the little flying fish jumping off the front of it as you're going around. So that was cool too. I'm missing the view for you guys. Look at this. So I just walked down the stairs. This is the view. This is right where we just came from. The main lobby is just right up there. There's this cute little coffee shop. You know I love my coffee shops. If you like desserts, like after dinner, the desserts in here are great. Hello, how are you? So all kinds of desserts, cakes. Look at that. Do you guys do coffee? So you got coffee, crepes. They got crepes, they have coffee. How do you pronounce it? Canal? Canal. So canal. All right, so you got coffee, you got crepes. It looks good. I'll have to come back later. What do they make? What's that? Oh, mini pancakes. Oh cool. We have street waffle in the middle and waffle on a stick. Oh my gosh. We also have ice cream, chocolate, waffle on a stick, street waffle, and the bubbly pancake things with the little— oh, that looks cool. All right. I'll be back. Do you have wine bar? Yes, we got cheese platter. You can choose from our wine manager's wine list, or you can get the included wine. Okay. All right, what time do you close? And they close at 10:30. All right, so we'll be back. Thank you. All right, so, canal. All right. All right, so Canal Wine Bar, they have included wines or you can get specialty wines which are extra because almost everything is included. So wine bar, waffle on a stick, that sounds pretty amazing. Wine bar, waffle on a stick, oh those little bubble waffles, I don't know what you call them. All kinds of cool stuff, oh and crepes. I'm a sucker for a good crepe. So yeah, all right, let's go down to the pool. All right, so the pool, little lounge area. Everybody's getting ready for dinner, so there's not as many people out here. But look at the pool. So here's the pool. This is the top level of the pool. It's, it's like bath water. It's like perfect pool temperature. I mean, that view is spectacular. That's stunning. I'll go ahead and take you around the other side of the pool here so you can kind of see everything that goes around with it. But it's Beautiful, beautiful. The flowers. So for a desert type of island, the flowers— oh, look at that, the water just cascading over the edge right there. And then behind there is the swim-up, the swim-up bar is right there. And then you've got the ocean. Now this pool is super popular, so I would come out early. I'm going to come out tomorrow morning, so I'll let you know what's a good time to come out if you want to get some of these lounge chairs right here. Um, so my trick, so bring a towel, bring your towels so you can put a towel down And then I would also bring like an old book because if you bring an old book, you can just put it on the, on the towel there, and that makes it, that makes it really easy to kind of save your spot. But all right, so we're over here by the other edge of the pool, but the sun is right in my eyes. The sun is going to set here at 7 o'clock in about an hour, so It's perfect if you're filming the right direction. So, so yeah, you can get photos by the beach. So this is the beach, and we're going to talk about the beach because everybody says the beach is not great. Now there's this little bit of beach. I mean, it's, it's got pretty white sand. Now it is rough, like you can't swim in this section, but there's another section where you can swim because the wind and the current is going through here like crazy and it's rocky. And I'll walk you down there. But here's— look at that. So you get a drink and you come kind of snuggle up by the edge right here. And you've got that pool, and you're overlooking the water, and you're looking at that from the pool. I mean, it's pretty amazing. So yeah, it's pretty spectacular, right? I mean, and the resort This is beautiful. I'm in the cheap room, so I'm going to show you the, the budget room, which is nice. It's really nice. Um, where should I take you? Oh, look at this. Come here. All right, so I'm going to show— this is cool over here. Like, if you want to do Instagram photos, that's your thing. I'm gonna take some pictures. All right, look at this. I gotta get the shot just right. Oh, here we go. Oh, come on, it doesn't get any better than this. Can you imagine me laying right there? Perfect photo. I mean, come on, look at this. All right, we gotta, we gotta lay down in here just to see what it's like. Oh, it's kind of nice. Oh, it's like— oh, it's comfortable. Oh, okay. Oh yeah, this is actually— oh, this is so cool. Look at that. All right, that is— all right, so see, here's what I was saying. So here's the beach, right? Just this part of the beach. See, it's like— it's coral. It's like actual— all of this is like actual little pieces of coral. Um, So yeah, I mean, all of it, um, because the reef is all around Curaçao, it's beautiful if you go snorkeling. So yeah, so there's the pool over there, the double infinity, and then over here is kind of like an entertainment sitting area up top over there by the hotel. And then if you want to do a little volleyball, you've got some volleyball over here. So there are activities, there are activities during the day, activities at night. Um, also up here are these hot tubs, and they're kind of hidden. So if you want like your own little hot tub Like, I haven't seen anybody in these hot tubs. Um, oh wait, there's somebody in the hot tub. Look, there may be— there's somebody in the hot tub off to the right, so we'll go to the left. So there's another one, because I don't want to disturb them. So look, you just come— look how tropical it is, right? So here's a hot tub right here. Let's see if it's actually hot. Oh, it is. It's like really hot. So it's actually heated. So that's nice. Look at the view. Look, there's the little heart loungers. I mean, come on, that's beautiful. These are these plumeria. They have these in Hawaii and they use them for the leis. And they— oh, see, one just fell off. So these smell amazing. All right, so let's keep going. So the other thing about this resort, if you're here, if you just stand still for like 2 or 3 minutes and you just look around here, not, not this time of day, But everything is in bloom, and the amount of hummingbirds and parrots and all these tropical birds, it's like you're in a zoo. Like in the morning, all you hear are all these parrots, uh, just— it's just crazy, the amount of tropical sounds. So yeah, I saw a bunch of wild parrots just in the palm trees above me when I was hanging out at the beach. They're just everywhere, which is not something I'm used to. So here's the beach, all right, right here. Now, I don't know, everyone says, I don't know, if you don't like the beach, you're not gonna— it's not really a beach resort. So I was like, oh, it's going to be no beach at all. But come on, look at this. I like this beach. I mean, Montego Bay, kind of the same, or Sandals Royal Caribbean, or yeah, Sandals Royal Caribbean and Jamaica, kind of the same. So I mean, it's a man-made beach. They have these cabanas. You can rent these, right? So $75, half day $150, comes with chabala champagne, concierge service. Available, so they'll bring you lunch. So if you don't have butler service, that's kind of nice. I mean, look, oh, it's cool. Look how cool it is inside with the thatch. Like, it's got real, real palm fronds. Yeah, so this is kind of nice. And then you've got that. You just hang out. And that's your view all day. So they have this little lagoon area. It's kind of actually nice because it's kind of sectioned off, so it's not wavy. There's no current. There's little, you know, it's, and it's the ocean. I mean, there's fish in there. The temperature is really nice. I was in there earlier. They have these little floaty discs, those little yellow things out there. See what those little, there's one right here. They're like little floats, but it's not that deep. It's pretty shallow, but it's a nice— I mean, it's not a, it's not a 7-mile Jamaica famous 7-mile beach, but I mean, it's tropical, it's got beautiful white sand, it's calm. I mean, it's nice and quiet. So I don't know, I, so I, as much as people say it's not a great beach, I don't know, I think it's pretty nice. There's, oh, I'll take you over here too. So this is where I had lunch. So they're raking the beach up here, getting it all clean for tomorrow. But, um, this little bar, this little bar up here So you've got a little bar, so if you're on the beach you can get a drink. Look, you can have dinner on the beach. They're getting set up out there with dinner on the beach. Now that's extra. It's usually, you know, it can, it'll vary, so I'm not gonna, but it's usually about $100 or maybe a little bit more depending. But I mean, there's a perfect spot for breakfast on the beach, but breakfast on the beach— dinner, dinner on the beach. Now Strand, I had lunch here. I had jerk chicken here, but they have burgers and fish. And then you've got this, you've got the breeze from the ocean, and you've got this, the sunset, and you've got this beautiful beach view. So yeah, so again, if you're like a, I gotta get in the ocean and go swimming in the ocean, then maybe not. Then maybe this is not for you. But, um, I feel like it's a nice beach. I mean, there's plenty of chairs out here, there's plenty of little cute little cabana things, there's plenty of shade, palm trees. All kinds of little area to go out and get wet and swim around and enjoy a drink. And then all the way at the end is the surf, or the surf is the scuba, and also your paddle boards and that type of stuff. So your dive shop is right over here. So yeah, if you didn't know, diving is included It's all-inclusive at Sandals. It's for couples. If you have a family, then Beaches Resorts is where you— I just heard a parrot. They're so loud. So the parrots are like all in these trees right back here. They're just everywhere. They're like green and yellow. Yeah, they're up there too. I can hear them. So parrots are— yeah, see, those people are looking at them. They're up there. They're just having a good old time. But, all right, so there's your typical— across the water there is your typical Curaçao landscape with like brush and, uh, cactus and rocks. And then over here it's super tropical. Oh my gosh, the parrots are going crazy! There they go. Oh, there they go. There they all go. They just all flew by. What do you call it? Is it like a flock of parrots? I know it's like a murder of crows. I don't know what a group of parrots is called, but yeah, there's a lot of parrots, so it's pretty cool. There's another little cute bird that just flew up there. It's all yellow and black. So it's really, I don't know, it's definitely my top, I don't know, St. Vincent. Sandals St. Vincent is like this hidden gem. It's like this beautiful resort that nobody knows about because it's hard to get to. They just did an international airport in 2017, so it's kind of been this rich and famous island that most people can't get to, and Sandals just opened a resort there, one of the few resorts even on that island. So it's spectacular, but Karussell, Karussell is pretty amazing. All right, so these are the rooms, this is, these are the rooms I'm in. Now on the bottom floor there's a swim-out, which is super cool. So these rooms on the bottom have swim-outs. So you've got your own little pool. Man, the parrots are going crazy. They're just, uh, must be dinner time for all the parrots. But yeah, so these rooms all have these little swim-outs, which are really nice. Oh, here you go, you can kind of see over here. So it's really pretty. But yeah, so see, you can see they have like their own little lounge chairs and their own little rafts, and they're super beautiful. So you can just swim out and relax, just literally walk off your porch and you're in the water. All right, so that's kind of the main area. I still got to take you to Butch's, the steakhouse where I'm going to go tonight. Gotta make sure I'm not late, and then I'm going to go to Vincent. I'll show you around Vincent. Um, what else? I showed you the beach. Let me show you just— I mean, just walking down these paths, I mean, it's really pretty. It's definitely a tropical paradise. On this island. I mean, here's— these are the rooms that I've got. I'll take you in my room. I'll show you the, uh, Steve Griswold lived-in Sandals room tour so you get the real, uh, experience. Oh, there's some more parrots that just flew by. They're showing off. There's a hummingbird. You probably can't see it because it's tiny, but literally there's a hummingbird right in front of me. I mean, they're everywhere. It's— he's going at— he likes those purple flowers. So yeah, he is right there. He's hungry. He's kind of speckled. So yeah, I mean, there's hummingbirds everywhere, butterflies everywhere, this nice breeze that makes it so it's not ungodly hot. Like some Caribbean islands you go and it's just super, super hot, but here at Sómm, it's kind of cool and feels, feels nice because there's always this breeze. Like in Aruba they have these divi divi trees. I'm sure they're on Curaçao too, and they, they, uh, they point a certain direction because the wind blows this same direction constantly. So I am, I think I'm, I think I'm like up here in one of these rooms. I'm on the third floor, so I think I'm right up here. So I'm in this building that faces the edge, so it really doesn't look at the ocean because it's kind of a side view. But all these others, like if you get one of these others, see all these here, all these are kind of ocean-facing, so they've got really nice views. They're looking over the beach area right here. And again, so here's more swim-outs. So they have these really nice porches. You can just swim right out and just relax, and then you just have this beautiful view. I mean, I don't know if you guys can hear all the birds. It's like, it's pretty amazing. All right, so we're going past their sushi restaurant now. All the birds are mocking me, they're everywhere. So Gatsu Gatsu, this is their new sushi restaurant. Um, Soi is the sushi restaurant at other Sandals. Now this is kind of Sandals 2.0 is what they're calling it. So here's Gatsu Gatsu, all enclosed, nice air-conditioned, really pretty. You can eat outside, so if you're excited, you want to go ahead and eat outside, you can do that. Just really enjoy the sushi. I'm gonna try to get sushi maybe tomorrow. We'll try to see what we can do with that. Okay, now if you want a quieter pool, they do have a quiet pool. They have actually a couple quiet pools. This one right here is off the main building. Now they do have a volleyball net, so there is some— most of the time it's a quiet pool, but sometimes there might be a little volleyball action going on. There is a bar right here as well. Your main pool is right back there, so it's really close to the main pool, but it's kind of a little bit off to the side. You do have cabanas again, like the ones I showed you over by the beach. So you do have these cabanas over here that you can rent, very similar to the ones I showed you before. So same price. But really nice little cabanas. Do you want to see my room? All right, hold on. Let's see if we can find— I take you to my room. Oh, there's a Red Lane Spa. So the spa is right here. So they have the Red Lane Spa at all Sandals Resorts. So you want to get a spa treatment, of course it's not included, but they have fantastic treatments. So I've had my share of really nice massages. So there's the Red Lane Spa. Now they do have elevators, which is also nice because some resorts you're like, oh, they don't have an elevator. We're going to take the stairs. I've been eating way too much to not take the stairs. So I'm up here on the third floor, one more flight. About to turn all the lights on for you. All right, here we go. I mean, even the hallways and everything are super nice. It's clean, it's nice, it's new, it's well lit. So I'm right here, so I'm going to show you my room. This is the lived-in Sandals look. This is after you've been checked into your room already. So here we go. So it's nice. So this is kind of your, almost your entry-level room as well. So if you want to save some money Nice bed, reading lights. You've got your TV over here, 2 drawers. So when you first walk in, right, so you first walk in, you've got your closet, you've got a safe, um, Club Level, so it comes with all these liquor, alcohol drinks. A little mini fridge, right? Soda, beer, all of that is right in there. Ice bucket, water. So there's that. Then you have your bathroom. You've got the backlit mirror, really nice shower. So it has a, a rain shower and also a shower head. Shelving to put all your bath products on, all your spa, Red Lane Spa bath products. The banana boat is a courtesy of me so I don't get burned. Um, nice sink, towels, toilet off to the side. So you walk through here, this slides also so that closes the door, and then you've got your main bedroom. Then the shower's in there. So if you really like your couple's, your significant other's feet, they're going to be right there. So there you go. Yeah, TV. They've got the room, they came down, look, they made my bed. So they came in at night because it wasn't made, it wasn't made before. So yeah, and then they closed the, they closed the blinds. I couldn't figure out, so these actually close. Oh, that's how you do it. Look, oh, it closes like this. Oh, see, I didn't know this. See, this closes to make it dark. Then there's another door here. So there's your patio. So see, my room's off to the side, so it has this kind of water view off over here, but it's nice. Now I know how to close this. Look at that. So that just goes here. So yeah, maybe. All right, we're going to close it up so when I get back it's all perfect. So coffee maker, Jamaican coffee. This is perfect in the morning. Put a couple bottle of water in here, you're ready to go. Um, little desk area. I always bring one of these carbon monoxide detectors, uh, with me, and I just toss it somewhere in the room, and I make sure they have them in Sandals. There's one, the exact same thing is right here. It's nice and cold in here. It's 24 Celsius is what I've got it set on, so it's really cold. It feels great in here. So yeah, if you are looking to come on a budget, this room's really nice. All right, so that's my room. It's getting windy, it's getting a little dark. It's almost 7:00, sunset's at 7:00. Um, I'm going to go to Butch's which is their steak, steak and seafood, steak, mostly steak restaurant, which is phenomenal. It's at most Sandals properties. It requires a reservation, so make sure you get a reservation if you go to Vincent or Butch's. So I'm going to go there and have some dinner. After dinner, I'm going to take you on a tour in the morning of some of the suites some of the other rooms, and I'll take you around the rest of the resort. Okay, I left you guys at Butch's Steakhouse last night. It's the morning, it's early. Butch's was amazing. Now most Sandals have a Butch's restaurant. It does require reservations. Guys have to have a collared shirt. Women can wear pretty much whatever they like., but it was fabulous. Silverson was the waiter. You can use the Genie, or no, Gina, the Gina app to leave reviews for the staff. So Silverson, phenomenal, left a great review. Service, fantastic. Food, surf and turf, amazing little salad, some crème brûlée with popcorn. The popcorn crème brûlée was great. So I'm going to take you down to the pool. So it's about 7 AM. So this is what you need to do. So it's like 7 AM, so there's still chairs available. See, so like there's a couple where people have put their towels out, but for the most part, for the most part, all these chairs are still available. So that's a good sign. So it's not like you got to get up super early. I mean, some of the sandals— look, they're going out. Boat's going out. Sandals boat is going out. So that's probably going scuba diving. Man, look at those. Look at the waves. Wow, those waves are crazy. Holy cow, that thing's coming out of the water. Yeah, it's really wavy. But yeah, so there's a marina right over here to the right of the resort, so that's why you see— oh, that's a pretty yacht coming out there right now too. So that's why you see all these boats. Man, the swells are crazy out there. But yeah, so look at all these chairs that are available, still about 7 in the morning. So sun is coming up. The sun got up about 6:20 this morning. This is the main pool. So this is the double infinity edge pool. So there's the top part of the pool right there, and then the other infinity edge is all along here, and you're looking at the ocean. I want to show you— so today I'm going to show you rooms. So we're going to go on a room tour. I still can't get over that ocean, but there is a nice beach. If you looked, if you saw earlier in the video, there is a nice beach where it is not wavy at all because it's all protected, and it's just around, it's just around this corner. But there's the other side of the infinity edge pool. I mean, there's only one person out here this morning, so Um, yeah, it's not bad. It's not crowded. Resort is 73% occupied, and there's still— this is still the experience. This bungalow off to my left with its own infinity edge pool. I mean, come on, that bungalow is right here. It's like right on the water. It's a little windy. It's always windy in Karasau, so hopefully it's not too bad on the microphone, but it feels great. Little palm trees. So yeah, so today I'm going to go About 9 o'clock this morning, I'm gonna go tour the rooms. So I will put together a Steve montage of all the different rooms I get to see. Hopefully we'll see a bungalow or a Rendezvous or some of the swim-outs. I already showed you my cheap room, which is really nice. So if you want to book any Sandals, there's 18 Sandals resorts. Oh, see, these are amazing. Look at these, these are the Butler Villas. Look, you've got a little hammock right here. You got a little place over there for— so if you want to see how big the tub is, it's beautiful. All right, so we're going to test the water here because That's the important part, is, is this cold or hot or what? Oh, this is really nice. Yeah, so it's nice here. So look, you've got all these little villas, all these butler villas all the way around, and then you have a tub, bathtub right here, literally a bathtub. Now these close, right? So if you need privacy, though, the butler will put together a bubble bath for you. So they'll put together a bubble bath for you and then close all these little curtains so it's not as awkward because— and they're spread out. I mean, they're pretty well spread out, so it's nice.
