In this concise motivational monologue, Steve Lichtman reframes burnout not as a personal failure or weakness but as a clear signal that one's actions are misaligned with values, expectations, or reality. He explains that burnout serves as an early warning from the mind and body, urging a pause before a full breakdown occurs. Lichtman introduces the RISE framework—Reset, Identify, Simplify, Execute—as a step‑by‑step method to recognize the burnout signal, step back without judgment, pinpoint the sources of misalignment, narrow focus to essential tasks, and create a concrete plan to move forward. He distinguishes three burnout domains—emotional, physical, and business—and warns that ignoring the signal can lead to personal distress and the collapse of a business. Throughout, he emphasizes a mantra—“Burnout isn’t weakness, it’s misalignment”—to reinforce the mindset shift from quitting to realigning. The talk ends with a call to protect oneself by listening to the burnout signal, using the RISE process, and adopting the shift‑gear mentality rather than giving up.

Okay, guys, listen. This one is a little bit different. This one's probably going to be the shortest one I would guess, that I've ever done, but let's just go for it anyway. Let's talk about burnout, right? Burnout hits when you've been running on misalignment for too long. It's not weakness. People think burning out's weakness. It's not. It's not failure either. It doesn't mean that, oh, man, I screwed this whole thing up. It's a message from your mind, from your brain and your body saying to you and screaming to you at times you're doing too much of the wrong thing or you're doing it in a wrong way. It's something. The burnout is your body reacting to something before it often becomes failure, right? It's the warning sign. It's the signal to pull you the hell out of the trenches and to give you a moment to figure things out so you don't hit that unescapable end of burnout. Burnout shows up when your actions don't match your values, you know, or maybe when your expectations no longer match your reality. That could happen. The reset is going to let you step back without judgment, right? We're going to get right into the rise framework of how to get your ass out of a burnout. The reset lets you step back without judgment. Take a step back, identify is going to help you see the misalignment, right? Take that moment, step back, look at where things went sideways, where things went haywire. Simplify and bring everything back into focus, right? It's about. It's about taking that moment, breathing and going, oh, snikeys, this went the wrong direction, didn't it? And then execute is going to give you that path out. Look at the new way around it. Find the way out of the burnout. Find the cause of what's making you burn out. Figure out what you've been doing that's driving you crazy, that's keeping you up at night, that's just ruining your day. Every single day you get caught with the same thing, right? Think about the same bad negative influences of your day. And I don't mean influences like people. I don't mean influences like marketing or sales things. I don't mean influences like business structure. I mean taking a step back and just looking at what are the things that constantly create a situation of overwhelm for you, that repeatedly create a situation of overwhelm for you, because that's your burnout signal. Those are the Things that are gonna kill you. Those are the things that are gonna kill your business. They're the things that are gonna just crush everything that you're working hard on and turn it into dust and blow it in the air and go magic. And then you're gonna be like, damn it. That magic wasn't magic at all. That was my business magically disappearing because I didn't take a look. I didn't see the burnout coming. I didn't listen to the signal that my mind and my body was telling me something's not right. So remember, there's the riff. The riff of the episode. Burnout isn't weakness. It's misalignment. Yeah, I want you to say that to yourself, like, a hundred times today. Burnout isn't weakness. It's misalignment. It's like that movie, I don't remember which was it Ladybugs with Rodney Dangerfield. We're in the beginning. He's in the car, and he's looking in the rearview mirror, and he's like, I love myself. I love myself. I don't remember the exact phrase and the terminology he used there, but it's kind of that, right? Like, repeat this to yourself throughout the day. Today. Burnout isn't weakness. It's misalignment. So if I get realigned and I take a step back and I use the rise framework, I'm not going to burn out anymore because I'm going to be able to recognize it and step back. So remember that burnout, that's the signal to shift. That's the time to shift gears and get the hell out of Dodge, not quit. We don't quit. Quitter. I don't even know how to spell quit because that's just not a word that I like to use. So use that burnout as that signal to shift instead. That's it today, guys. I'm not going to. Actually, I could give you a personal story of a family member that had burnout, and it affected their business and it affected everything else. And, you know, it opened up a door where people were able to then take advantage, and it screwed somebody's business up pretty damn good. And it's unfortunate, and it sucks. And watching things like that happen and seeing people that won't use that signal to shift and instead let it burn out and let the burnout win is terrible and sad. So don't let it happen to you. Take that moment. Recognize the burnout. Recognize the overwhelm before the burnout to get yourself ahead of it all. So you don't even feel the burnout? Because, trust me, there's people here listening right now that are. Man, you're probably burning it on all ends. And I'm not just talking about time. I'm talking about emotional burnout. I'm talking about the physical burnout. I'm talking about the business burnout. The burnout of so many different things. I wish it was just a burnout. A V8 Hemi muscle car driving down the street, lighting it up at a green light. That's a burnout I kind of love. I love those burnouts. But I don't have any other burnouts. The only burnout I'm down with is that V8 car spinning its tires and making some smoky goodness. So, look, be careful, everybody. Protect yourself from burnout. I'm Steve Lichtman. This is unfiltered and unshakable. And have a wonderful day, and protect yourself.
