Accountability is more than just consequences - Pt.1 Timing #shorts #leadership

Accountability and consequences are always tied together. But should they be? I'm going to hold you accountable. How does that feel as the person receiving it? There's two pieces that we've got to understand. One is timing and the other is the idea of empathy. Let's think about timing first. There's really two pieces under timing, and think about it in terms of timeline and deadline. When we think about accountability, we usually think about the deadline. Something didn't get done, so I'm going to hold you accountable, and therein lies the consequence. But when we think about it in terms of a timetable and accountability is viewed through the lens as a leader, in terms of following up through the timeline to make sure that progress is being made, that's a different type of accountability.
