Leadership training workshops create temporary motivation that vanishes once people return to work. Real behavior change requires more than one-day events and guest speakers. The speaker argues theory alone doesn't stick without a different approach.
Ideas in theory don't change behavior. So what do we do? How do we actually approach this in a different way? I mean, let's think about what we usually do when it comes to training. We have an event, you have a speaker come in, you have a workshop done, and then everybody goes off motivated until Monday morning picks up, and then the pressure, as we've already talked about, hits, and and things go awry. That's not the ideal way to implement any type of significant change where we're trying to engage in a different type of behavior.
