This is a YouTube video titled "Let Good Ideas WIN" containing a leadership talk recorded in June 2024. The speaker discusses the importance of allowing the best ideas to prevail in an organization rather than just the leader's ideas, emphasizing inclusive decision-making and empowering team members to contribute their suggestions.
As a leader, here's one of the important truths that we need to make sure we grasp. We've got to make sure that we allow the best ideas in our organization to win. Now, what do I mean by that? In many organizations, and I've gone through this myself, as a leader, it's our ideas as the leader that generally wins at. I mean, think about it. If you've been in a meeting with your leadership team and your ideas are always the ones that get implemented, your ideas are always the best because you have the most experience, you've seen the most. What does that do to rest of your team? How many times have you walked into a meeting and you've asked for ideas and nobody wants to give their idea because they know you're going to have the best ideas? We have to understand as leaders, if our team is not giving us ideas, if our team is not providing suggestions, there's a good chance that they're looking to us as their leader for the answer. But the sign of a good leader and a great leadership team is when decisions need to be made. It's not the leader's decision. It's the best decision that wins. Think about your organization, think about your leadership team. If you're the leader of a broader team and they're not leaders, think about your team. Is it your decision that wins or is it the best decision that wins?
