The first thing you need to know or think about is how long have I got to finish my dissertation? If I'm writing for 3 years, it's okay. Some people do that. You don't have to be writing 3 pages a day because you're going to end up with over 1,000 pages. If your goal is to be finishing within a year, well, ultimately your goal on a weekly basis, if your dissertation is going to be somewhere around 150 pages, Let's say you need 3 pages a week. Now, that's a pretty simplistic way to look at it because there's getting committee approval and then there's doing the research. So realistically, when you get all done with it, if you can be averaging a page a day, you're probably going to be at a pretty good pace.
