Chapter 3 (methodology) should run about 15 pages, up to 20, laying out every procedural step like a recipe. Chapter 4 (results) typically spans 20 to 40 pages, expanding as you add figures, charts, and tables.

Now, Chapter 3, your methodology. I like to think you can do this in around 15 pages. I've seen some people say up to 20, but I also like to think of Chapter 3 as a recipe. So in a recipe, you get explained all the ingredients and every single step that has to be used. In Chapter 3, you're telling the reader every single step you went along the way so they can understand what you're going to do, but also replicate if need be. Chapter 4, your results. This can vary widely. I think of 20 to 40 pages. Look, Chapter 4 is most likely going to have a number of charts, a number of figures, in order to support the results you're showing. So to get to 30 or 40 pages may not be too difficult when you start inserting Figure 7 and Table Number 18. Page number tends to go up. I'd love to help you finish your dissertation so that you can go out and change the world.
