Healing Emotions #5: Allie and Resources.mp4

A short talk by Steven Barnes (The Diamond Hour) about practical steps for emotional healing focused on acquiring resources and allies. Barnes reviews prior steps (acknowledge need, face fear/pain, accept responsibility, create daily ritual) and emphasizes identifying skill/resource gaps, modeling successful people, seeking external supports (groups, mentors, spiritual community) or developing internal resources (journaling, meditation, self-love).

Hi, this is Stephen Barnes of the Diamond Hour welcoming you to Healing Emotions, Part five, Allies and Powers. Before we go forward, first, let's have a little recap. First, you have to acknowledge that there is healing that needs to be done. Second, you have to deal with the fear and pain or grief of that acknowledgement. Third, you have to accept responsibility for change. And four, you have to create a daily ritual of action. Now, in accomplishing a new goal, one of the most important things is you have to get your ego out of the way and admit that you may not currently have the resources necessary to accomplish it, but you will be able to if you gain new resources. We resist this thinking that we can do it if we just try harder. Conversely, we may believe that if we can't currently do it, it cannot be done at all. Both approaches are pure egotism. Take a hard look at the skills and resources you currently possess. Then by modeling the behaviors and lives of people who have accomplished what you are trying to do, determine what is necessary to reach your dreams. Subtract what you currently have from what you require and what remains are the skills, attitudes, resources and allies you must gain in order to hit the mark. Now, in terms of healing emotions, this might include, but is not limited to, support groups, meditation techniques, journaling or dream journaling therapy, joyful activities, new attitudes and beliefs, and means of implanting and implementing them. Hypnosis, neuro, linguistic programming, etc. A new spiritual community, new friends, associates, mentors and teachers. In other words, whatever it takes, you must make the commitment to find the resources you need to return to the light and continue onward in your life. One great question to ask as you begin this is how can I do this? Have fun in the process. Remember step three, Accepting responsibility for our healing. Well, I'm deadly serious about that. It's one of the reasons that you need to have a commitment to have fun. Because it is so serious. You have to demand support and respect or have the self love necessary to go and find the resources that you need. Now, if you don't currently have the resources outside yourself, then you have to find them within. Journaling and heartbeat meditation require no outside help and can over time accomplish miracles. Start with a deep, unquestioning love for yourself, for the true self within you. If you can't manage that, start by committing to develop deep and unquestioning love for yourself. The resources will follow if you have the commitment. This is critical. It's critical to your survival as a spirit and your survival as a human being. And you must settle for nothing less. Period. If you have no healthy community and lack resources, please feel free to join the Free 101 discussion board, the URL on the screen and join the Diamond Hour list where you'll be able to get your free copy of the world's best selling self help book. The URL is also on the screen. This is your life and you are the bottom line. You are what stands between the little child inside you, the purest part of yourself, the outside world. If it seems challenging and unsupportive. You have to love yourself. You have to make that absolute commitment to yourself or frankly, your dreams will die. This is Stephen Barnes encouraging you to be the hero in the adventure of your lifetime.
