We've been planning this for months.

Yes, we have.

And months, actually, for decades, we've been trying to answer the question. What is the question?

We were trying to answer, sweetie, how do you find and keep lasting love? Yeah.

Yeah, we were. We just did a podcast with the president of Jordan Peele's Monkeypox Productions. And at the end he was like, you two were so lucky to find each other. And a lot of people feel that way about us. But actually, the secret is it wasn't luck.

No, it wasn't luck. It was very. We'd done a lot of very specific work before we met each other. If we hadn't done that, we wouldn't have been ready. I would not have been ready for this amazing woman.

I would not have been ready for this amazing man. I mean, literally, if I had not done the work, the way he was looking at me the weekend we met would have scared me off like he was a vampire because he was so open in his face and open hearted, and I wouldn't have been ready.

And the reason I was so open, our cat just jumped over there. This is life.

This is life.

The reason that I was so open was because I could see very clearly what she. She was and who she was and realized that this was the opportunity of a lifetime. And I was willing to humble myself and just let her know and know in certain terms who I was and what it was I was prepared to do if she would give me a chance. All I wanted was just, you know, will you take a chance and get to know me and see whether or not there's something here? My heart absolutely was singing. And unless I had done the work that I needed to do, I could not have seen who Tananarib was and what the potential was in our relationship. It was, you know, and within.

Hours, really, 72 hours after we first met, we were basically engaged.

We were pretty much. I mean, not technically, but it wasn't exactly love at first sight, but it was almost like love at first encounter. We heard each other's speed at a conference on black speculative fiction at Clark Atlanta University. He saw me, I saw him. We were on the same path. And the secret is we had Each done work before we ever met that was so similar to help prepare us to meet our soulmate, that we decided, you know what, we can't just keep this to ourselves. We have to offer this process to everybody, whether they're in a relationship, not in a relationship, straight, queer, whomever. There are ways to prepare yourself.

Now. Because my first marriage had gone the way of the dodo, I was a little nervous. It's like, am I sure that what this is is real? Am I sure that if we teach, this is going to work? So although I had done a lot of coaching, the human heart is such a precious and vulnerable thing that we waited literally decades. We kept testing, kept asking, I kept coaching people and in different aspects of it. And after 24 years of marriage, we.

Finally said, well, let's not wait until we're old and gray before we start to share this. Hey, that's your voice. Hi. Crappy. The fun of it isn't really. It sounds. I don't know, it sounds like over promising to tell people, oh, we can help you prepare to meet your soulmate.
