Precious moment. I don't like to lose a precious moment of time with my teacher.
I got something up in front of this meeting. Is beginning to record something.
Shielding your face, it says beginning to record. There's probably a. A place you can click on that to basically agree to let it be recorded.
Connie, come and look at this. Thank you.
Thank you, sister Connie. So how are you?
I'm doing good. How's my sister, your beautiful son?
Oh, well, my beautiful wife went out and did five rounds of boxing, of Thai boxing, just very lightly because she's coming back. But I'm very proud of her for wanting to do that. And I can't wait. And she did. She wanted to do that on her own because she said she'd be embarrassed for her coach to watch her. So. But she did five rounds and that's halfway to the 10. That is her ordinary schedule, 10 three minute rounds. So by next weekend, I'll be coaching her again. And that's great. Jason is doing great and he's enjoying his summer, but I'm having him do a little bit of work five days a week so that he doesn't get out of the. Out of the habit. Letting him know that, you know, that this is the path that I'm setting so that he can gain the skills he needs to be able to support himself. So it's, it's, it's all good.
Yes, sir. I'm gonna tell brother Steve best for you.
Hey, did you know that Mike Tyson has done a set of instructional videos on his peekaboo boxing style?
No, no. I heard that, something about that, but I didn't see it.
Yeah, I'm gonna send you. I will send you a link to, to it because I'm telling you, it's the real deal. He's. I don't think I've ever seen a champion at his level actually do an instructional video on it. And he still moves beautifully. My God, he's powerful and fast and strong and balanced.
He.
That is a scary human being.
Oh, yes, sir. And back in his day, when he learned that movement, he was very difficult to hit because he was in constant motion.
That's right.
Very difficult. I had that in my footwork, Steve, when I, when I used to fight, I had that in my footwork. I didn't know to move my head in the manner in which he does, but then it's too big kick moving like he moving. But I had to keep my head up. But my feet were.
Yes, it was. Yes, it was. I'm. I'm I'm sorry that there isn't more video of you, but at least there's a little bit. There's a little video. That Carlos Bunda video would be great. It doesn't. You. It's not up there anymore. I don't know who's got that, but somebody pulled that down.
It was a video of me.
Yeah, of you fighting Carlos Bunda.
Oh, Bunda. Yeah, I remember that. That was sneaky on Parker's part because he had. He called me up one day and said, steve, what are you doing Sunday? I said, at that time, I wasn't doing nothing on Sunday. You know, I was just hanging out or something. He said, I want you to come out to school on Sunday. I said, what school? He said, send them up to school. So I said, okay. He says, I want someone for you to meet. He had me to meet Carlos Bunda, but at the time, I had just made black belt about two or three weeks before that, so I didn't know who Carlos Bundle was. And they had us to fight. You know, he wanted to see how well I was able to do because Carlos Bundle was a international champion at that time, and he had us to fight. I mean, Cullens, the net.
I know the first time you fought him at a tournament, though, I think you still won, but he. It wasn't as much of a shutout. He was more ready for you that time, but you still beat him. If I remember right, we fought.
I still didn't know who Carlos was. When they said, the international world champion. Coach is sitting there waiting. Because I had won lightweight champion at that time and lightweight champion at that time, because they had three divisions at the time with Carlos Bunda, and they said, Carlos Bunda. I still didn't remember. Name. Was the same guy, but I had a good time with him. He's an excellent fighter.
Well, he certainly seemed to respect you. It's. It's kind of a shame that that video has been been taken down, because I'd love to study it, but I. You know, at least I got to see it.
Yeah, I. I have. I have never seen me fighting him, except for when I fought him. The film. I think I. The film I saw. Sullivan had it at one time, and I did see it, you know, but that's been. That was. Man that was in the sea.
Well, you know, the beautiful thing is that if that video exists, eventually we probably will be able to get our hands on it. You know, I think that if. If the. God, I forget what his name is, but. Cjo Al Faro's Al Faroz has it. Yeah. He just won't share it. Yeah, I did, and he was not comfortable with it, and I understand why. Apparently, it was up on. Up on YouTube and people were making some rude comments about Carlos Bunda, you know, because you were. You were embarrassing him. And so Mr. Bunda probably asked if they would take it down because it's embarrassing. And I think cglferos did that. So the people who made rude comments kind of ruined it for the rest of us.
I didn't think that it was such a bad fighter, and I was fighting like I was fighting for my life out there, you know, So I see. How did they consider really see that they weren't out there?
No. I mean, but on the video, it looks like you're primarily just kicking him, but you were all over him, and it's like you really. It was. It looked like a shutout. It really did. I mean, he was totally caught by surprise, and you just. You just riddled him. So it really was. It really was impressive. I can understand why he might feel a little embarrassed by it. Like I said, once he understood what he was fighting with, the next time you fought him, from what I understand, he did much better. But that first time, it looked to me like you were just all over him.
Twice. I never fought him anymore after that time.
Okay.
We had a good fight. I thought we had a good. Yeah.
How about the first time when you were just at the school? Did you still think that was a good fight?
Well, I found out that I could handle him.
Yeah.
Came down to school. I thought I had to handle it, but I was just. Like I said, I was shocked to see that this was the same guy that Parker had set me up to fight. He knew that I could be at the. We fought in the school, and still he came out as the international champion. I was shocked. I thought, man, I've already bought this guy once. But I didn't know that he was the international lightweight champion.
Yeah, well, Parker did that. I think he was being very mischievous.
Yeah, he set that up.
That's great. But I think that, you know, maybe you should, you know, get in touch with cj. Al Faros. You're still on good terms with him?
I don't know, but I can get in touch with him if he has. If I could probably get a copy of it.
Yeah, I mean, it's probably sitting on you. He could put it on YouTube on a private channel, or he could, you know, put it someplace and give you a password to be Able to look at it that, you know that can't be shared, but you know that look at it once. But I think that it's only fair for you to be able to look at it. But, you know, talk to him and see about that. I think he's just, he's trying to be courteous. I think.
I'll check and see. But I, I didn't really understand that it was embarrassing to Carlos because I really liked. And I think that even in our day, we were both excellent fighters.
Yes.
For that time that we fought, I was a better fighter at that time.
On that day, in that time, he wasn't ready for you. So, yeah, you know, it's all, it's all good. It's all good. How are you doing in general and how's your health and how's your training coming and, you know, just life.
I'm doing great. I went to the doctor and he found that my. There's a vein in my leg that it allows blood to flow in the same direction that it's going down that allow it to flow back up. And also. So it's, it's what's doing it is plaque in my, in my veins. So they want to go in and get the plaque out. And at that time he said I should be able to move like I want to move how I want. So I'm gonna. Done. I'll be up in LA on the, the 12th, 13th. Well, actually they're on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th. Be there at Long beach for the Internet.
Yeah, well, I want to come down for your, for your seminar and you know, to have a chance to see you and so forth and so on. And also we're, you know, trying to. We're going to be moving probably in the next month, six weeks, so it's going to be very, very busy. But then after we get settled in and after we come back from Chicago where we're guests of honor at the World Science Fiction Convention, I want to make a plan to come out and see you and come out, come out there. And also I want you to make sure to talk to Sister Connie about how I can donate money, you know, to, to the bkf. If you have a tax free, you know, situation set up, then I'll don't. I'll dedicate it. I'll donate to that. Otherwise I just donate it directly to you and know that, you know, do with it as you see fit. So it's all, you know, just. If you could ask for that, that'd be great.
Okay, I'll do that today.
Great. As you know, I know that you're. You're training these young men and women to be strong. And I can't think of anything that's more important than helping to. Helping to support that.
Oh yes, sir. You know, I was, I don't know if I said this, but I said that I was talking about water. I mean water. I said if you look at water, water is never on the defense. It is either offense or offense. But you cannot put moving water. And I said that is for science. If you think that way that you only in your class for fighting, you only have offensive power. There is no in your science for fighting. So waters. So that is how I build my fighting science, offense, color office. I consider seeking to be off. I consider conformant to be counterargument. That's what water does.
Seeks and conforms. Yes.
You look at water, anytime it touches something, it conforms.
Yes.
Meanwhile, you can see it moving like a snake or something. It's always secret. It conform. It can either go over round or, or just knock it down. Whichever one is decided at the power level, moving at the center. So I use that in my fighting, son. That I use seeking and conforming. But I also use the language water moving water. It continues to flow, shift, change and create, which is adaptability. The brain does the same thing or it can be the same thing in the direction it can flow, it can shift, it can change, it can create. Hang on for a second. Tonight you guys get out, get out of the doorway because I'm on the computer right now talking to someone. Go outside and talk. Not on the stairway. Excuse me.
No problem.
I forgot what was.
Oh, you were talking about water conforming and seeking.
Oh, yes sir. Brother, that is a beautiful way to think of the signs of fighting. If you understand the language of water and it does speak. And when you hear me say seeking and conforming, I actually do that as I'm moving and around these implementations, right? I'm seeking and whatever is like water. I'll get that opening. You understand?
Yes, I do. I'm just. I'm just thinking about how true that is. It's very true. And it's true in a number of different fields. It's not just true in martial sciences, it's true in much of in life too. If you're like water, you're always following the law of gravity flowing downward. And water always eventually gets back to the ocean. No matter what, what changes it might have to put. You might have to put it through it will eventually get back to the ocean. So it's always seeking, always adapting.
That's right. And moving water cannot stop. That's the beauty of it. I debate with people say, well, they put up a dam and they stop it. I said, no, they don't. There's a point in which they have to open that and said, water out it. It is sinking and it will nail until the dam either get knocked down or you open up those doors and let that like that. If you look at water when it comes in, it's the damn boom. It rolls back, right back again, boom. And it. It goes on forever as long as that water is. And there's nothing that can withstand that except for maybe into 10 years. They have to do something with that dam or even have openings in to be able to let go of the pressure off of it. But it will definitely bear down. When you have a certain mindset in the science of fighting and you say, like Bruce said, this element of fighting was water. But he never fully explained how to use that water. He only said, you put it in a teacup, it becomes the teacup, which means it conforms to whatever goes into. And that's. I use that term conforming too. But I use it in this fighting. That seeking is all conforming is counter. Often when you throw something, I check it this way. And if my hand is up here, you throw one this way. I can look this way or I can take it close. My science for fighting is a lot of language. So that's why I place ends in certain. It's like a guy practice. He throws a punch so I can check it with my left side. He throws a punch where I can take my right side. All I do do bone sound from there. Check it here, check it here. But you can't see that. Let me see if I can.
Yep, I see it. I see it. Yes, sir.
Bo from there. Now the water language is checking it here, checking it here. But at the same time, I'll tap that hand that came out that I checked with the bone sign. As I check it, I'll slap you into the gr. As I slap into the groin. Depending on the angle of your head, I can hit you with a forearm elbow and take you cross over to left side. If I can do that with this hand here up in my face, I can now hit you boom. And rotate this right behind it and come. That's a water lake. If you understand how to mind. I can't see. I can speak a pure water link in. In the realms of there's limitations to real water, to the human body water. And because I know there is a patient I have to make assigned a way with the use of the water language and the use of how I can use my. My physical fighting like water. And you can do that, my brother. You can do that. And that's what I do. Like I said, when I hit him with a glowing and his head dropped, all I did was pop his head to my left side, hit him with a hand that's already up and the other hand is rotating circle coming to follow that as it goes out. That is a water. But I can also go hit him in the. Hit him with this hand, Slap him in the face with the. With the opposite hand, brother. Follow with a fist. I can hit him, hit him in the face with the left hand, back him in the face with the right hand and fire back with the left hand. Do you see what I'm. That's a water link.
Yes, sir.
In the understanding of how to deliver that water link, I can change that any kind of way from head to feet and doing that walk. That is excellent, brother.
It's okay.
That is excellent.
That is. That is real. That is real wisdom. That is real science. Beautiful.
Yes, sir. And you can change it. And when I'm fighting, I can change it in midstream of fighting. I have no idea that that understanding is going to come. I can send it towards the top at an average speed of 24 being per second, which means that I don't think, but I know that I do. I understand the speed of human thought. And there's no limitation on the speed of human. So when I fight, I see, I identify. As long as I can see it identify, I can attack it. Or I can do what we call conforming to his office.
Lovely. Did when you, when you knew Bruce Lee, how many times did you guys get together to spar?
Oh, I don't remember, but it was in a span of about close to a year. And I would say within close sometime every week, in a month, then sometime it was every weekend, then it might go back to every weekend again. And we were trained for about three hours.
Was it a lot of fun?
Oh, yes. He, when he respond with me, he would always say, do you come up with that information? I say the same way you come up with your.
How. How did you come up with your. With what?
With my information means fighting information.
Yes.
You change around and he said, I can see Steve. He says, someone has taught you to use both your hand. I said, I Taught myself to do that because I got it. I jammed my thumb in fighting one day, couldn't use my right hand at all. So I had to go put my right hand forward and left it. Usually I put my left hand forward because I was right handed. But I had to become left handed just to be able to fight because I couldn't use my right. Anytime you touch, even when I blunt it hurt because I had. So I became amateur way. And that's how why I taught children to be ambidextrous when they fight. Because I could fight from either side of. Well, you, whatever you you push me to is the side I will come and come back at you then that is excellent. In fighting. When you can go amade and become even handed. Left or right, whatever you can do right, you can left. Whatever you can do left, you can do right. Sometime on my left, I had to kind of change it a little bit to get it off. For whatever reason it was because it wasn't exact. We have two halves of the body and those two halves are actually different. Even though you can teach both sides to do the same thing, it will not be the same. Because the right side and left side of the body delivers in a different way. Even though it is so similar. You may not be able to see the difference. But the deliverer, he sees a difference in the way he left it. And sometimes your honey hand, the hand that is the weak supposed to be the become better than the strong side in doing some of those things. But both wrong. What you want to do. Even though it's different, you want to make little pictures. It may not be equal in the lip of that strength. Because you may have to change it a little bit on you then from your rights. But I try to transfer that information from my right to my close together and deliver this either right or the angles in which I which are 45 degrees. I can deliver all of my power that I can possess from my left side. I can deliver all I can deliver from the right too. So even though I delivered from the left, it may be turned a little bit one on the right. Because there's two halves of the body, understand that now. And they are not equal, but they can become equal. Or they evolve into perfection. To be able to do whatever you want to do, even though it may a little off, if you understand what I'm saying. It feels a little different than right to left. But the power is.
I find that sometimes working on your weak side makes your strong side better.
It does. Because you have to Pull instrument from your right side to give to your weak side normally your left side. But once you get it, then the brain actually start tweaking movements you deliver with. And it will actually the left side delivers when it makes slightly different than the right side. If you understand what I'm saying. See, you can deliver that 100 power on the left side, 100 power on the right side. And there are some things you do on the left that you try to get to the right side also because it seemed to be that the left side I generated more power with my doing a movement than I do with my. So I try transforming that to my right side by just tweaking it a little bit until I get 100 the same power on each side. But it's still different, if you understand what I'm saying.
Yes, I did.
It may never become exactly alike because of being two halves of the body. And they will never be exactly alike. You look at them, they're neural. If you actually look at one and then look at the other, Steve they are not alike. But it seems that it is when you're looking at it, you're looking at one person that has two heights. I use that in the science of tying to make me understand how does this difference. See what I'm fighting. Delivering your assignments for fighting. It can become. And. And when you're fighting. I was showing the other day that one of my students and when you're in close then you can. He said you can get too close to deliver blows and stuff to your home. And I said develop a way where close. I may not be able to hit him with the full power, but I'll use the science of bone on bone when I deliver that. He said, okay, what if I leave you and right here in your baby how you going to deliver into me to be able to hurt me? And all I did was cut er with a. With a form just below my wrist. And he said, well, that wouldn't hurt. I said, would if I generate power with it even though it's a short distance. And I said if I want more, but take it down to the elbow and tap it into your face, bone on bone, you know. He said, touch my face with the bone. He goes, bro, hit me on my. He said, you could probably break that at that short distance. That is true. So each day I learned how to deliver. And sometimes it's not breaking, but it is pain enough to make move or if the turn or do something that will give me an advantage over you. Do you understand what and the brain is making to do that. That is magnificent. Magnificent. But you have to train constantly. I mean, every day you got to think of this stuff in order to new and better movement. Able to put inserts and those new tapping. Tapping into the face are hitting him with a L. It's just setting him up so I can with 12 inch fighting.
You're 12 inch fighting science, right?
And even if I have to go up and down or up, I'm gonna get my 12 inch fighting sign. So I can hit you with not 90 or 80 or 70 or 99. 100 of the power which I generate from that. I'm gonna put that on your body, on your face or wherever I that power too. But it will not be 100%. That's fighting, Steve. That is fighting. Using the mind of the Creator. And you cannot do any better than having the mind or user of the Creator. Which is nice. My understanding of my religion is Allah, which means God.
Yes sir.
So are you. And I call on the Creator every time I get ready to fight all on him to make me be successful and overcome. Even though and become violent, I still call on that. I'm not the initiator of that dialogue. Do you understand?
Yes.
So therefore I feel that I could follow.
Now, if you're sparring with a friend or in the school or you're in a tournament, then it's not a matter of violence. You're two warriors testing your skills so the both of you can get better. In that case, what do you ask God for then? Not to hurt the other person, but to do your best, perhaps.
Oh no. I never even thought about asking him in that way. I only asked him to allow me successful to be successful in. In. In the direction. But I didn't know Allah the same as I know him now. Back in the days when I was fighting.
Yes.
And you use the word Apollo. I guess that I did. You know, obviously God let me be successful my endeavors to become the champion. But I already knew that the contact was going to be attack that I was not physical fight. So I didn't ask him to overcome like I do when became a police officer. When I work in protective service and ask him to allow me to overcome whoever. And he did.
That makes sense. It makes a lot of sense.
What.
What have you been over in the last week or so? What have you been teaching your students? Is anything specific?
No, just angular movements. And I'm getting better at teaching those angular movements. And I'm taking the angular movements, switching them and changing around them. Understand that when I teach you something, you don't have to repeat that one thing over and over again. You add and take out and put stuff into that according to the languages and he is presenting that you can follow. It's like going to a country and you learn that. But in the science of fighting every country, every person speaks that same length. So you don't have to go there. You just create an adapt to that language that he's speaking by looking at angles and every fighter, the language of angles dmt you understand, you won't know how to actually attack your front. You just hit him. When you understand angles, you will attack angles that he presented you. If you understand what I'm saying. I'm reading the language. If I throw a punch, he's sharp enough to lean his head to the side. I throw a punchy. How about just slap it? Because I read that language and I read that language with my hand this far from his face. When I go his head was this far because he. I just snap him in the face. Do you understand what I'm saying? He speaks a language. I learned to read the language in which the human body speaks in the Science of Fire. And when he speaks that language, I'm right on him with an answer to that language is like me talking to him but in a.
So how are your students picking it up?
They're starting to. That's great. But I didn't give this to my first, second and third generation. I'm only giving it to my fourth gen because they're here in my first, second, some of my third generation, some of them are there but I'm getting better every day. Even though I'm. I'm not as mobile as I was before.
You know.
Somebody told me the other day when I was. The day when I was talking to him, one of my students said, you know, when Allah takes something for you, he always gives. What do you mean? Oh yeah, I do love the children. My daughter talking to me. But when Allah takes he also give you something to take the place of that. I'm finding that to be true with my leg, I'm finding that I'm moving my feet more and more better every day. But my hands complement the movements with my feet, if you understand what I'm saying. I know that if you push me then I know that I'm going to go in the direction you push me and there's nothing that I can do. I can't change that direction. So I try flowing with it. I also know that move my far Enough. Sometimes if you push me hard enough, the bottom span, I'll fall. But I'm learning how to switch the body when you push. I'm learning how to slide them. When you push me. Say you push me on my right side. I'm learning how to slide my right foot back. When you push, you get that balance. If you understand what I'm saying.
Yeah.
Or I would stumble back. Now I'm sliding my foot back. So if I continue in this. This direction, man, we're gonna get better at that. I'll be able to slide those movements out of the way because I'm using a water length of skimming. Like you can throw a rock on the water. You can throw it. It might hit the water. 1, 2, 3, 4. Before going to the water, it'll continue on the water. And thinking about that. I'm doing that with my foot. I go back and let it slide back and put me in a position where I can now recover from being pushed in that way. If you understand what I'm saying. The brain but the makeup. Find a way, brother. When you like when you lose something, you gain something in some other way. And I'm finding that out in an older age than what I was. You couldn't push me down. I could catch my bounce. Even when I stumble or something and catch my body or if you push, I have to find a way to get that bounce. I'm finding it now by being able. You push me, go with that push and let my foot come back and get to a certain point where I can feel that now I can catch myself where I won't fall. That is being sensitive to the body. A sensitive to anything in which you want the brain to actually help you in finding a way making or finding a way not to find, but making or finding a way to recover from whatever is warm with a sense of I can do it in fighting. I don't know how to do it in healing or something like that, but I can do it in fighting. I'm gonna make a finding way to be able to overcome or to be able to get where I need to. And I'm starting to do that more as I as I train. But my age is younger in terms of the number it is getting younger and the sense of move. Do you understand?
Yes.
Without my legs, I become almost where I'm. But now I'm I and I'm starting to lose body and lo where I'm becoming more mobile. And with that being more mobile and the rest of my be better also And I'm able to overcome or move from things that I wouldn't be able to move normally if I allowed my stay as I am now as a person that can't move that well. But I'm starting now to actually, I hope you don't mind me grabbing something because.
No, not at all. In fact, we're almost done here today, but. But I just. Man, this is just. You've been giving me pure wisdom today. This is just pure martial science. I love it. I love it. I'm so glad that I'm recording this.
Oh, yes, sir.
That's just great. Well, listen, my wife and I, we're having our 24th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so we're going to go out and celebrate a little bit today. Got ourselves a luxury hotel suite, and we're going to have a nice dinner tonight and hang out and. But I wanted to touch base with you, you know, and I hadn't talked to you for a couple weeks and hadn't got this video. So, you know, once again, next week I'll be. I'll be bugging you again.
Oh, yes, sir. And please tell my beautiful sister one love and congratulations.
Absolutely. And the same to. To your beautiful wife, Steve. I'm so glad that you guys have each other in life. It means all. It makes me very happy, sir.
Oh, yes.
So you take care. Take care of your family, and I will speak to you again soon.
Oh, yes, and I thank you for the call today, black man.
All right, take care. Bye bye.
You too. One love. One love.
