The men's suit jacket that millions of men around the world wear every single day was designed in the 1860s in England, and we're living 150 years in the future, and this garment has not evolved or changed.
I'm Abdullah Bassi.
I'm Greg Rosborough.
And we're Bassi Rosborough, a menswear design company based in New York City.
I had this idea to combine sport functionality and military utilitarianism to reinvent tailoring for the 21st century. For the 2020 collection, we designed everything in 3D, and it's a quantum leap forward in the design power that the designer has. Your ability to iterate quickly is incredibly powerful, and your creative opportunity is pretty much unlimited.
Technology has leveled the playing field. For us, we wouldn't be able to do what we do if it wasn't for companies like Squarespace that allow you to access a tool that maybe 5 years ago was unattainable for a small business, and now you're able to do it. 2020, the idea is going back to who we are. We want to be the best modern tailors in the world. We're continually striving to create a better product, and just like any creator out there, when you see someone that's engaging with it in a meaningful way and it enhances their lives in a certain way, I think there's no higher award that you can get.
You look back, you take stock of where you've come from and those dreams that you had 10 years ago, and it's amazing to realize those in, in real life. So we did that this year, which was incredible.
