Can I get some too? Be my guest. So what are you working on today? Thinking about getting some paintings done with no distractions. What are you painting? I don't know. Haven't decided yet. How do you choose your subjects? It's kind of based off instinct. Sometimes if nothing comes to me, then I'll just stare at a blank canvas until something hits. How do you pick your roles? It's a bit of the same thing. I, I like to challenge myself. Red leather, yellow leather. Play different parts. Unique New York. Unique.
Hey, I got an idea.
Why don't you paint me? You're just gonna stare at me the whole time? Does it bother you? I don't know, I just feel like I gotta be performative or something. I got some scripts I have to rehearse anyway, so— Well, well, well.
You've got a lot of nerve showing your mug here again, Carmine. Spare me the chin, will ya?
You're just gonna sit there and watch me? Hey, when did you start painting again? I started painting after I moved to LA. I just had some instinct to, like, I would grab a pencil and a paintbrush, and it became an obsession. I used to play with my wrestling action figures.
And here we go, folks. It's the main event you've all been waiting for.
It was like the first time I think I was really creating storylines and narratives.
The finishing move is coming. Box office slam! The painter's on the canvas victorious! Joe the Action Hero!
Wow. You know what? Maybe I actually do need some peace and quiet. So you just want to leave me alone? Okay. And let me do this thing. Hey, you guys want to see something cool? What are you doing?
Stop interrupting me. Oh my God. Interrupting you? Dude, I work. You.
Hello? Hello? It's Mom.
Yeah. Oh, 안녕하세요. No, no, we're fine.
Hey, so what's with the disfigured faces? I don't know. I think growing up, I always had a struggle with having this sense of belonging, whether it was growing up in the Midwest or traveling to Korea. I think I'm always trying to define what home means for me, you know? Now that I think about it, you have something that I don't. I wish I had what you had. You get to collaborate constantly. You're able to come in here whenever you want and paint whatever you want. I envy that. I admire that. Done. Do you like it? Does it matter? Do you like it? I do. You're gonna sell the painting? Why not? Isn't it hard on you to part ways with it? You gotta let others enjoy the work too. Well, maybe I'll buy it. You hungry? Yeah. Wanna grab a bite? Sure. What are you feeling? Dumplings. We just had dumplings. What about our usual beef plate?
Yes! I was just thinking that.
2 heads are better than one, huh? Finally agree on something. Did anyone ever tell you you got a strong sweater game?
