This is a YouTube video titled "We made East Village Hats a website that wears a lot of hats.👒" (uploaded 2026-06-16) containing a dialogue between two people: a hat shop owner (East Village / Village Hats, who took over the business and describes the studio and sewing machine) and a designer/presenter reviewing three Squarespace website redesign directions. They discuss design inspirations (storefront colors, handmade craftsmanship, custom workbench), feature requests (more prominent logo, better browsability for classes, add-ons for hats), implementation details (classes as products, accordion navigation, parallax/animation), and the owner ultimately prefers the middle, more animated design.

So this is the simplest one. How much more dramatic does it get?
Um—
It's a new world. Village Hats is a little hat-making studio originally opened by Barbara Feynman in 1998. I took over the business 10 years ago when we moved to this spot. My sewing machine is from 1890. It's a wonderful old workhorse of a machine. It's made of iron, and it's gonna last me forever. I know absolutely nothing about building websites, and that's why Squarespace was the best place for me. The 3 things I'm looking for are way more I wanted a more prominent logo on the website, more browsability for my classes, and third, to be able to have all those add-ons to make your hat even better. Time to redo websites.
Drum roll, please. Here's the first website design that we created for you, inspired by your front window. A lot of the colors were pulled directly from the store. The color looks awesome. We added this accordion block here to navigate your services.
This is the simplest one. How much more dramatic does it get?
Ooh, it's moving. It's moving. We were inspired by the handmade craftsmanship of all of your hats. Your classes are a huge feature in how people use your website, so we added all of these classes as products. You mentioned wanting to have, like, an add-on section.
And where's the logo here?
Um, the logo happens in the footer.
Okay. So it's not as prominent, but still present.
This is the 3rd and final direction. We were really inspired by your custom workbench. These slightly animate too as you stroll with parallax. Just to give it a little bit more dimension.
It just, it feels a little stilted.
Yeah.
But it doesn't make me want to come and see us in person.
Is there any one of these that you are gravitating to?
The middle one is the one. Movement on it really shows the store as a space that people would really want to visit. Come visit me here at East Village Hats or visit the website at eastvillagehats.nyc. The bucket hat. Why?
