Jeff Koons' lobster sculpture, with its massive downward-pointing arms, works as a self-portrait. The artist moves like an acrobat on a high wire, and the lobster captures that same daring, precarious balance.

One piece that really stands out for me is the lobster. It's like an acrobat. It has very large arms facing down to the ground. Somebody told me, Jeff, you're like an acrobat. You're always on the high wire. So I always think of the lobster as somewhat of a self-portrait.
