This is a short YouTube interview (recorded Sept 11, 2024) between host Sunny Reddy and Barb Pallotta, who is running for Oakland County Clerk. Barb describes her public-service background (entered local government in 1996; later served as Independence Township clerk after running for office in 2012 and 2016), explains the clerk’s duties (records custodian, elections), and outlines campaign priorities: instituting immediate alerts for unlawful access to property/record files and supporting absentee voting (recommending hand-delivery or using an early-voting tabulator as the safest methods). Contact/payment: she spells her last name P A L L O T T A and says she has a website and Facebook presence.

Good afternoon everybody. This is Sunny Reddy coming to you from Indoor Ed Studio. I always get confused. Indoor Ed Studio. I have my good friend here, Barb Pilota. Barb is running for Oakland County Clerk and very interesting to learn about her. Barb, can you explain me, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and the position you're running?
Yes, thank you, Sunny. I began in 1996 at an entry level position in Novi in the planning department. Was recruited by the clerk in Troy and since that time in 1996, I ran for office in 2012 and 2016 in Independence Township and became their clerk. So that's where I started and that's where I ended up. And the reason I'm running is like, is because I'd like to bring my 30 years, 25 plus years of experience to Oakland County. I think it would be of value.
Tell us about what does the clerk does and why it's so important to have the best person like yourself.
The clerk is the hub at a local level, but also at a county level for the position that he or she holds. He or she is the holder of records. They have to be an organized person. They also have to have a lot of knowledge about how to retain records, how to destroy them and also follow the law. And I do that.
So tell us why do you think our listeners should support you?
I think they should support me because I know what I'm doing. I'm going to say right off the bat, I'm not a politician. I believe that the clerk's office should be a nonpartisan position and no polyps should be brought into it. And more than that, I am one who I lead by example and I enjoy my job. I'm very good at that. But the politics side of it, I'm going to tell you the truth, I am not good at that at all.
Barb, earlier when we were talking about it, you mentioned that other than the elections, the clerk is responsible for the property, making sure that the property stays with the right owner. What do you do? Exactly.
So as register of deeds, the clerk is in charge of the records for your home. Right now there is a, there's a mechanism in place that you can receive an alert if someone tries to attempt to access your record, but you have to sign up for it. I would like to institute immediate alerts for anybody's record who is unlawfully accessed.
Just want to make sure that what Barb does is making sure that our property stays with us. That's one of our job. So thank you. Barb, how can they reach you? If they want to reach you, they want to learn about your campaign.
Okay. I have a website and I'm on Facebook. This is how you spell my name. P A L, L, O, T T A. So you would go to www.palada.com or Barcom. Thank you Barb.
You know, just want to let you know there is a huge Indian community here in particular. Anything you want us to know what.
You do in terms of my.
The clerk like you know, voting. You said earlier, you mentioned that you want to make sure that the right people can vote also.
Yes. Okay. Right now Proposal two was instituted for this particular election. There were a lot of changes with it. There's a lot about that law that has been difficult to implement and absentee voting as a result of that has increased quite a bit, which I Support. Absentee voting 100%. The safest way to get your ballot to your clerk is hand deliver it or visit your early voting site and run it through the tabulator yourself. That are the two safest methods if you want your vote to count.
Thank you Barb. Thank you Barb. Again everybody, I think please support Barb. Barb is great supporter of us and she was last time I saw you at the India Day. And thank you very much for coming there and supporting us.
Thank you for having me.
Sure, sure. Anytime. And then thank you again. Guys. Bob says you know what, don't vote for the party, look for the person. Make sure you look for Bart Palota. So she will be on the ballot and pretty soon I'll be sharing the ballot with my name on it too. So please vote for Bart. Thank you all. Thank you very much. Thank you Bar.
