Hi there, my name is Susan Dolan and I'm a Google and social media expert from Manchester. I'm delighted to be introduced as a member of the Cruise Lecturers Association and I would like to help your cruising guests understand in very simple terms how the world's biggest search engine, Google, works. How to get your website to the top of Google's listings and more importantly how to stay there. I currently deliver Google Search Engine Optimisation and social media seminars in the UK at both public and private events. I try to deliver edutainment style lectures so that it is both informative and entertaining for the people that attend. I'm certainly not technical so to speak. I would hate to blind people with loads of science and acronyms. Instead, I deliver very personable presentations in which I aim to keep the audience well engaged and interested in the subject. There is always an open question and answer session as part of the talks that I deliver, and I'm very happy to answer any queries in relation to both SEO, which stands for search engine optimisation, and also about the various social media networks. SEO is basically the science of getting to the top of the search engines, something that people like I have been trying to master for a number of years. Social media is also a fascinating topic as geography is no longer an obstacle to keeping in touch with friends and family across the world, whether you're at home, at work, or even travelling on the ocean. Having travelled the world extensively in my youth, I found myself living in Seattle, Bill Gates' hometown, in 1999, and this is where my interest in the internet and the World Wide Web began. Once I realised that Google was fundamentally based on sheer mathematics, I started to study the algorithms to understand what Google have and are trying to do. This is simply to deliver the best and most appropriate search results to the end user. Such was my interest in this subject that when I returned to the United Kingdom, I set up my own business, which has now been running for over 15 years. At SEO Web Marketing, we've helped so many clients with both Google SEO and social media campaigns, including Britain's favourite astrologer, Russell Grant, Greater Manchester Police, Probability TV, Timsons, Macmillan Cancer Support, and CAFOD, to name but a few. I'm a huge fan of social media, but not only for one's personal use, but how the various social media platforms can be used within a business environment. Although there are so many social media networks in the world at the moment, my personal favourite has to be Twitter, and I guess a quick look at my own Twitter profile clearly displays that. It's a great platform to connect with people all over the world, and I've made many great new contacts on Twitter. I also write regular articles for a number of online publications including The Entrepreneur Magazine, Social Media Experts, Showcasing Women, and Benchmark, to name just a few. The subjects that I would like to cover in my lectures include the internet and Google, how the internet began and why Google was born. Google search engine optimization, how to get to the top of the Google natural search results and more importantly how to stay there. Search Engine Optimization and Social Media. Find out how the Google algorithm has changed to incorporate social media indicators. How what we say and do on social media websites now affect the search engine results. Social Media Psychology. Learn the psychology and marketing differences between LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+ and Twitter and how to use it better for your business. Twitter for Business. Learn how to fully utilize Twitter for business without the procrastination and learn the true value of the hashtag for business Because if you don't get somewhat automated, you will get left behind. Tweeting to a Connected World on Twitter. How Twitter has and why it will continue to change the world in just 140 characters. I'd like to thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better, and I look forward to meeting you in the not too distant future. Should you wish to get in contact with me to discuss your requirements, please do not hesitate to contact me by telephone, email, or by calling me on 0125 537 000. email, or on one of the social media networks listed on the screen now.
