My mom did have life insurance, but she had lost her job and lost all of her benefits two weeks before she passed away. When my mom passed away and I figured out that she didn't have life insurance, I paid for my mom's funeral with the savings that I had from high school and then my friends and family put together a GoFundMe to help me with the after funeral expenses. When I applied for the Life Happens scholarship, I had recorded it over and over and over again because I kept messing up. I was very surprised because I had pretty much written this off that I was not getting the scholarship at all. Whitney had actually left a voicemail on my phone. I was very thankful that I did get chosen for this school year. I am just excited to have a normal college life. This school year is starting fresh.
