This is a YouTube video titled "Breastfeeding hack from a NICU nurse and mom of 4 #breastfeedingtips #newmomhacks #newbaby" containing a monologue by a postpartum nurse sharing a breastfeeding tip about positioning the baby's belly button to face the mother's belly for a better latch. The content was created in July 2024 and is instructional in nature.
I have a breastfeeding tip that can be a total game changer. Here it is. Turn your baby's belly button so it faces your belly. So often, as a postpartum nurse, this is what I saw. Moms would be nursing, but their baby's belly buttons were pointing up towards the ceiling. Take that baby and have their belly button face your belly. Why? Think about it. If you and I are eating and our belly buttons are facing this way, but we're trying to eat like this. This. It's awkward. It doesn't feel quite right. Our belly buttons tend to face our food. And the same is true with your baby. Take that belly button. Have it face your belly. That's how they can get the best latch.
